Joe Kinnear

Featured Replies

Just heard his interview on SSN. Reckons he's been appointed Director of Football at Newcastle. Lots of fun and games ahead. The guy is a prat of the highest order, thick as two short planks.

It's a gem of an interview, he reckons he's a master tactician, says if Pardew wants advice he'll give it to him, says he'll decide if a player isn't good enough and ship them on, says he'll have final say on transfers and reckons he'll improve Newcastle.

The best bit was when the newly-appointed Director of Football said he'll be meeting Pardew in the next few days to have a discussion .. "That is, if he's not on holiday".

Honestly it has to be heard to be believed. Unbelievable appointment by Ashley.

One step forward two steps back with Newcastle.

Appointing a former manager of Newcastle as Director of Football? An incomprehensible decision (even without that person being Kinnear, and even if he is a former Spud).

A three year deal, apparently.

Pardew's gonna be well pissed off...

Incomprehensible...

(Edit - so bizzare that am wondering if I'm asleep and this is a weird dream)

Amongst the quotes ..

"I think I've got a bright head."

"I've worked with the best." (WHAT !!!!???)

"If Alan asks me for advice with ideas and tactics I'll give him it."

"If I see players at the club right now and don't think they are good enough I intend to move them on."

Do you Jose, I mean Joe ? Don't you think you should speak to the manager first .. Or is he on holiday ?

In the last 9 years, Kinnear has only been involved in football for 2 months, if I'm not mistaken.

Someone might have told him to tone it down a bit.

NUFC-forum.com not happy. Worth a look as the reaction is very similar to that here. Best post I saw:

'If Kinnear's the answer, what the f**k is the question'

Baffled, unless it's a move against Pardew.

They're doing it to get Pardew to walk out on his 8 year contract.

First thing that occurred to me too, they realise they've f*cked up royally by giving Pardew a long contract and want to drive the twat out. Can't say I blame them, Pardew is a prize prick.

"I think I can see a good player and know a good player and get the right players in for us to be successful."

I'm sorry but someone who has been out of the game so long will not have the contacts needed to be "in the know" about where to look for "the right players".

He's press conference "melt down" when he took charge of Newcastle a couple of years back was pathetic and highlighted that he doesn't have the nous for the modern game.

I expect lots of 6ft plus signings and Andy Carroll to re-sign so they can "lump it up to the big man".

Can't really be surprised at anything that goes on behind the scenes at Newcastle since they gave that idiot an 8 year contract after 1 good season.

2 seasons ago they looked like they had got their act together after the questionable appointments of Dennis Wise as Director of Football and Joe Kinnear and even to an extent Kevin Keegan.

They had made some good signings and done good business like selling Andy Carroll for £35m... They looked like a team on the up.

But this season it just went pear shaped again, the 8 year contract was just bizarre and the insistence on signing french speaking players is also a bit strange. Now Kinnear returning to the club just seems like meddling on Ashley's part and I don't see it ending well.

Don't really care for Newcastle, their fans think they are something special when they're really not. But do feel a little sorry for them. We know all too well what it's like to have the people in charge make stupid decisions.

I feel the same, I dislike pretty much every club except for Chelsea for one reason or another but I do feel sympathy for club's fans when their club is ruined from the inside by inept decisions..

I still don't get this decision. It can only be an anti-Pardew ruse, to force him out rather than dismissing him, it means JK as manager, in all likelihood, which I don't understand at all. A lot of odd things happen in football but this passeth all understanding...

It's times like these that makes me glad that Chelsea do all their business behind closed doors. Apart from the occasional sound bite from Gourlay, you don't hear a peep from the people above. Imagine if Emenalo spouted this tripe every week?

The fact that Kinnear has decided to start giving interviews before Newcastle have officially announced the appointment shows the character of the man. They guy's a self interested moron, make no bones about it.

The only possible explaination I can give is that Newcastle are desperate to take the 'Laughing Stock of the Nation' award back from Blackburn Rovers.

Your move, Venky's!

It makes you wonder how a club that can attract 50,000 plus,on a regular basis can be so bloody useless for so long.

Their last major cup win being the fairs cup in 1969.

The geordies will point the finger at a 'cockney mafia' ruining things a St James Park but they seam to forget the replica shirt scandal of the late nineties & the comments made by board members Douglas Hall & Freddie Shepherd.

And these guys were from the north east with Douglas being the son of club chairman, Sir Freddie Hall.

It shows just what can happen when club officials seam to think they can ride roughshot over the dream's of it's supporters.

Roman may have his faults (which he does,of course) but by the vast majorty of his actions, he shows he has a genuine affection for Chelsea Football Club & an real interest in it's fortunes.

Inspite of what is said by jealous fans & in the gutter press,99% of supporters would LOVE to have a Roman Abramovich at their club.

The other 1% are Spurs supporters.
