JT destined not to get a real dose of European glory ...

Featured Replies

Can't help but think that JT is becoming a bit of a Jonah where Chelsea in Europe is concerned. The penalty heartache in Moscow, those nights at Anfield, the Barcelona bridge mugging, sent off in the Nou Camp and our fortunes reverse, missing from our Champions League and Europa League line up's.

Then he comes on and after a magnificent rearguard action and we concede a pinball freak goal.

Had a feeling they would score the minute he came on the pitch. I hope he get's his moment in europe but he only has this year and possibly next year for it to happen

If I'm being absolutely critical I think we lacked a pressure relief up the pitch.  Lukaku just had no experience in that situation and lost his nerve.  Contrast to what Drogba used to do for us in those circumstances.  I remember him against Barcelona taking the ball to the opposition corner flag and making them try to win it off him, before putting it out for a throw or corner.  He was so good at that pressure relief and helping to defend.  He could mess up our opponent's momentum by forcing them back to get the ball and he'd often win free kicks or throws in doing so.

Last night Bayern pinged in ball after ball uncontested (Neuer was practically playing in our half) that they got the goal from the law of averages if anything.  I'm sure Jose will work on that side of Lukaku's game in the future and I hope it's taken as a learning experience for everyone.

He's been a talisman in domestic competitions but strangely in Europe CFC been more lucky when they play without him (Barca semi Nou Camp 2012, CL final 2012 and Europa League final 2013). Had that sinking feeling as soon as he was about to come on.

Just hope that he can break the trend.

And Jose too missed a trick by bringing off Hazard. Once he'd gone there was no outlet and the ball was coming back way too quickly for the team to organize.

JT will always be a Chelsea legend but he's a bit of a spare prick at the moment.

MOTM against ManU. We must have a very good set of defenders at the moment...

It is just the european games. Maybe it all started from that miskick in the CL final.

It really annoys me when people have a go at JT lifting the trophy even if he didn't get any game time in the final as over the yeas that's so ways happened. I remember Jamie Redknapp lifting the FA Cup for Liverpool even though he'd been injured most of the season. So whys it n issue when JT does it? Also if he's played in any if the games leading up to the final then he fully deserves to lift it and receive his medal. Now I know the Super Cup is a one off but the competitions that lead to it aren't they're dozens of games leading to a final. Anyone who scores a goal or makes a pass etc no matter what round deserves to lift that trophy in the final. Also he's the club caption so of course he should lift it and lets not forget UEFA wanted the players in their kits. I just had to say that.

But I digress to the actual sub matter JT as far as plying in the final goes does seem to have bad luck where the Europe is concerned but I believe he'll get a chance to rectify that.
