With Didier in the country for tomorrow night champions league clash I thought it might be a good idea for an appreciation thread for Chelsea's most decorated centre forward ever.

Let's see and hear your Didier stories, moments, pictures and movies and celebrate a truly remarkable player and person.

You never know he may even be reading so let's show our thanks for his achievements and effort for the club we all love.

I will be there tomorrow, Matthew Harding lower singing loud and proud foremost for a Chelsea victory but also in appreciation of Drog. Sing loud sing proud Chelsea!

hahaha how do I not remember this, 2012 season judging from the kit but I don't remember seeing this before.

I think they both went up for a header, something like that and they just tumbled onto the floor with Didier straddling the Villa player... So DD did what any macho man would do... Rode him like a cowboy. Obviously.

I've got so much man love for that guy. There's not many men I would consider going gay for but DD is definitely on that list especially after that night in Munich.

Why the f**k we never offered him another two year deal is beyond me. At the time there seemed to be this common theme among a lot of you that he'd reached the pinnacle in Munich & that were he to play on for us it would be a let down...let's have cherished memories...so on & so forth. Well...some years on...if we don't win the title this year, I reckon that in large measure that'll be because we've never had the contribution up front that we've sorely missed. I mean I can't even look at the Torres thread anymore - the mere thought of it is enough to make me retch - what the f**k he's still doing in a chels shirt...sorry I digress...love to have the Drog back in any capacity.

I think it's because, in the league especially, the quality of his performances for us were in decline.

He dragged us through some of the Champions League ties no doubt but the signs were there that at 33/34 years old he was beginning to struggle to influence certain games and we so what better way for him to bow out from Chelsea then scoring the winning penalty in the Champions League final?

We tried last season with Torres as the main striker... I think something went on behind the scenes with Sturridge and that's why he was sold but the strikers didn't work last year.

This summer it should have been addressed and we pursued Rooney for too long and ended up "settling" on Eto'o whilst the likes of Cavani and Falcao moved elsewhere... We messed up in that sense this summer and I'm certain it will be address at the end of this season.

pathetic response from this forum, lets hope the fans there tonight show him the love lol

If you are a regular contributor to the Shed End, you would know how much DD is loved on this forum and how his legendary status in not in question.

I'm sure the fans will show their appreciation tonight but I hope they don't go overboard and they keep it to a bit before the game and a bit after. The 90 minutes will not be about Drogba it will be about us getting through to the next round so the last thing I want to hear too much of during the game is Drogba's name being sung!

My favourite player of all time (along with Lampard and Terry). I can't articulate how much I love this man properly so I won't even bother. Thinking about that night in Munich still gives me shivers.

Fantastic to see him back and it will be a long time before we find one as good as him again but he looked every day of his 36 years last night.

I think last night showed why.

Great player and legend for CFC but age catches up with everyone and as good a physical specimen as he is, at 36 he just hasn't got it any more  - not at the very top level anyway.

Just to echo these two posts, I think last night showed we was right to move on from Drogba when we did. No questioning he went out in the right way for us.

A Drogba in his prime is exactly the kind of player we are missing though, he would have thrived in the attack we have now, him and Hazard would have formed a good understanding.

I don't want Didi back... He left us the best possible way. I never want him to tarnish the memories of Munich.

His last kick in blue gave us the Holy Grail!!!

Cech, Terry, Lampard and Drogba. What a spine!

Arguably the greatest keeper, defender, midfielder and striker we've ever had.

That's how blessed we've been with this generation of players.

Just found this comment on a 2006 thread on 'Who will shine for us this season'

'However, I think Sheva might just prove to be the key man for us .. sticking away all those chances that Drogba couldnt in the past '
