Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Both are similar but Cavani is slightly faster and has been a proven, consistent goalscorer for a few years now in Europe. Diego Costa looks class but he's only came into his own in the last 12 months really. Cavani bursts his arse every game I've seen him and seems like there's less ego/drama involved.

I wouldn't be pissed off with either but I think Cavani has more to offer the team. Anything's got to be better than Torres, right?

If dont think one is particularly faster, or works harder than the other.

Diego Costa has been playing well for a lot longer than just the last 12 months.

Costa can bring 'unnecessary' drama, but i think its unfair to him to say he has an ego. Every match, he looks like hes ready to put everything on the lane for the team. Hes a volatile character who will bring spark into those turgid and uneventful games that seem destined to end in a goalless draw.

I think both Cavani and Costa would fit in well, but i just dont see Cavani leaving PSG so soon.

Have we? Was Mata actually that good at FKs? Compared to baines, gerrard, suarez, etc.

Yeh Mata scored one direct free kick against Man United when we lost 2-3 if I remember rightly . Was never good at scoring them himself but his delivery for others to score was pretty damn good though .

He's the fourth highest scorer in Europe this season only behind Suarez, Zlatan and Ronaldo and is younger than all of them.

Thank God there's a 35 million release clause in his contract, because he's definitely worth around 50 million in today's bloated market valuations.

He's probably not as good as Suarez, but imagine him in front of our midfielders. He'll be a huge success at the Bridge, I'm sure.

Don't get me wrong, he wasn't exactly Juninho but he'd bang in 4 or 5 a season. I don't think the rest of the team combined have scored 5 direct free kicks this year. At the very least his general delivery for others was excellent and he'd almost always hit the target.

I'm pretty sure Fergie said Mata's quality from set pieces was worth £25M alone - it's definitely somewhere there's room to improve on going forward, but that's kind of besides the point since Cavani would be on the end of corners, not taking them.

Well that's kind of a deal breaker for me. If what's been said here is true and Diego Costa can be bought for £35M, it just makes more sense than spending £50-60M to buy out Cavani's contract from PSG. There isn't a whole lot between them but just given Cavani's track record I'd give him the nod if they were both around about the same price.

Best free kick taker of all time

Sign him, For gods sake sign him.

I'll drive the taxi, bus and fly the plane.

A striker in form, young, reasonable price, fits our playstyle . . . such an obvious choice. I keep imagining starting the next season with him leading our line and it sounds too good to be true. SOmethings bound to go wrong

Today is just why Chelsea need him. Get him for 35 million and if the exit clause in the contract ain't true, get him for 50 million. For F's sakes, just get him.

Never seen anything like it. Any angle, any distance he would smash it in off the woodwork. Just a set piece phenom.

Mihajlovic for me is 2nd behind juninho, simply because of juninho's conversion rate and numbers. 40 free kick goals for Lyon is pretty impressive.

Haven't been his biggest advocate up until now, but given our recent games against Villa and Palace is is completely f**king obvious that this is the man we need up front. We need a striker to demand and bring out the best from our other players and care more about winning than anyone else on the field, Drogba, Rooney, Suarez and Aguero are all prime examples of those very traits.

What we need is a striker who can make chances out of nothing. It's not really creativity that we're suffering from as much, but the failure to be bailed out by some top strikers like Liverpool have with Suarez/Sturridge, Aguero and RVP to the others.

Really wish we pulled the trigger on Cavani but whatever. Think Costa is a brilliant player and would do well here.

This is exactly my view. I was sceptical at first due to Costa's discipline but what we need from a striker is a guy who's going to give our midfielders the kick up the arse they need when it's not going to plan. Looks like this is our guy.

Exactly, we need someone who can make things happen! a striker that moves, that shoots, or even pass!! All four you mention can do it. Its f**king awfull that torres hasn't been able to make a shoot on target in the last three games

The more of Costa I watch, the more excited I get about the possibility of having him

Is Costa a realistic target? I mean atletico sold torres and aguero because they weren't gonna win anything, forlan because he wasn't good enough and falcao because of mendez. They are fighting for winning the league and they are in quarters of champions... so why they would sell to us?
