I think it speaks volumes that this thread only has about 28 pages, considering the amount of pages the threads about Rooney/Hulk/etc... got. I don't think the majority of us particularly want him.

I respectfully disagree.... since January I felt the deal had already been done and thus have watched him quite a bit and I think I would call him an upgraded Kevin Davis.

 

He's strong and has decent speed, not blistering by any means. but for me his goals seem to come from some pretty bad defending or keeper errors. The league is not knowen for being the most defensive, I don't dowbt they have good defenders but its more the style of defending. We need some one to get in to that bloody bus and punish the small teams. I'm not sure costa is that man.

I'll make a friendly wager with you, if (and obviously a big if) Costa does in fact sign for us this summer he will score more league goals for us in his first season than Torres has in all of his for Chelsea.

Just strikes me as the sort of player that could thrive under Mourinho's "us against them" mentality. 

 

With everything Jose has said about his strikers this season whoever comes in is going to be treated as some class A Waitrose eggs and is going to be the focus of a lot of our football next season.

19 according to wikipedia although happy to be corrected because I know their stats aren't always right. 

soccerbase also has it at 19. ok we will freeze it at 19 if you like with one proviso, penalty's aren't included as Torres hasn't ever to my knowledge taken a penalty and I notice costa takes them from Madrid (and misses a few for them as well) so 20 goals in his first season and I will happily donate a 5ver to the site

Only if you think Kevin Davis was a bad player - He was a hardworking pro who gave everything to his team and was a big reason for Bolton staying up and doing well for so many seasons, he would more or less beat defenders up. I give you costa is a better player but I think he's limited in what we need from him. As I say I am very happy to be wrong, but it's been a while since I have been wrong on a striker, kezman being that man. I took his goal record to mean he would do well here. Actually if we had got Huntalar I would have looked stupid there as well I fear

I hope you're not using him to dribble past defenders   Long balls+Crosses and he will score a lot in fifa.
