Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

If thats the attitude then no one would of signed Suarez because he was playing in an "easy league" . Sometimes you have to have the balls and take a gamble, its not like we have a huge list to choose from.

I get what you're saying but Suarez is different gravy altogether and someone would always take a punt on a player like that. It's not really a gamble to spend money on players like Suarez, Aguerro, Ronaldo etc as they are amongst the best in the world. Costa is nowhere near that level but currently has the knack finding the back of the net on a regular basis which is a handy knack to have but doesn't make him worth £40=£50m, not YET anyway.

We desperately need a couple of good strikers and improve on what we currently have but I hate the idea of us being laughed at again for blowing huge money on another white elephant.

costa has a bigger reputation than suarez had at ajax.

I actually like the way he is heated. He fits for Jose and Chelsea. We need some fire again leading our line. Eto'o has some but Ba and Torres don't besides who cares how he is like if he bangs in the goals.

I disagree Suarez was doing for Uruguay too, Costa has yet to be tested at International level, World cup will be a good test to see how he does. On Suarez i knew he was a good player but i never thought he was going to be this good.

How!? Suarez had already had his first taste of human flesh at ajax

I think we have a big bully type in Lukaku. We should be seeking a more finesse striker to play along side him imho. Someone who can score a goal on his own, be it from a skill past a defender with a classy finish or a strike from outside the box would be a game changer for this squad. Possibly if rvp were to move on from Man U...someone of they style

Good luck finding one.

fair enough, I think he was very much in forlans shadow at international level, yes he dud have a fantastic record in Holland, but so did the likes of kezman and bony. There weren't many on here saying we were signing the wrong striker that january, and I think the fact he ended up at 7th place liverpool, who hadnt qualified for the champions league, pretty much unchallenged for 22m, speaks volumes about his standing in european football at the time.

Costa is coming off the back of a successful season in spain and the champions league in which he is the flavour of the month, I dont think suarez had the reputation or the hype that Diego costa currently has.

I do agree what youre saying though, we need to take an educated punt on somebody, im not a massive fan of costa, but there doesnt seem like there's much alternative.

He is perfect for us, those who disagree think they know more about football than Jose - bizarre

football is about opinions, it would be boring if we all thought the same.

How do you even know what jose thinks anyway? Its all paper talk at the moment, mourinho could prefer someone else.

Yeah, that's where the rumor appears to have come from.

It also makes sense from a business standpoint though.

Can you explain how Costa occasionally getting into an on the field scuffle will affect Roman's businesses?

Negative press for the club, even more than we seem to have gotten recently.

Can hardly be good for business and reputation.

I'm sure Roman's otherwise pristine reputation as a businessman of high repute can take the small hit.

I'm not 100% sure on Costa either far from it however he looks the best and most realistic striker for us to get, plus i do like a bit of his attitude. To me he seems exactly like a Mourinho type player. When we lost at Palace Mourinho wrote on a piece of paper what this team is missing and he wrote "balls" well Costa will give us that.

And you would happen to know what Roman is thinking because.....?

"Respected Spanish journalist Diego Torres Romano" is seemingly part of the Guillem Balague crowd (follow each other on Twitter) and is the same guy who wrote about how Jose cried when he was turned down for the Manchester United job in the summer.

Your not really basing it on something that imbecile said? Come on.

It's pretty accepted he has an in with Jorge Mendes' camp. He may have exaggerated the Jose crying thing (I think there may be have been some truth in it - Jose would have been incredulous he wasn't considered ahead of Moyes, even if he wouldn't have taken it) to make for a more interesting section in his book, but I don't think he's completely making this up. Nor has he expanded this seemingly huge news from anything more than a tweet, so it could just be part of the usual on-off nature of a transfer - lower your wage demands or we'll go for Cavani etc - which he's blowing up a little as part of his anti-Jose agenda but not so much that it burns him.

Diego Torres has spent his life spouting sh*t about Jorge Mendes and his friends because they had influence where his cronies at Madrid didn't. They wanted to change things for the better but the old guard at Real didn't.

If Diego Torres is a 'respected journalist' then Fernando Torres is a respected striker.
