Diego Costa to Chelsea

“On the pitch I fought with everyone, I couldn’t control myself. I insulted everyone – I thought I had to kill them,” he said. “My life has always been fighting and battling. It’s something I have inside, I can’t change it. When I put my mind to something I don’t let it escape me. On the pitch I fought with everyone, I couldn’t control myself. I insulted everyone, I had no respect for the opposition. I thought I had to kill them.”

That's the spirit. You don't get that with FT.

Such an over-reaction :laugh2:

It was easy to see he wasn't fully fit. In all honestly he didn't even play that bad but he is so much better than that

Honestly the meltdown on here has been ridiculous, Frank Lampard has played sh*te at two world cups yet he was great for us. I understand been worried about Costa's temperament but his performance last night wasn't worrying at all to me, he made some excellent runs for a start and scored over 25 goals for Atletico last season.

If you can compare costa to van persie in this match, I think it's clear why so many including myself, have reservations about him.

I think van persie is in a different league to Costa.

That's true.  One is in La Liga, then other in the PL.

I'm not overreacting to last night, I'm just not excited about this signing, never have been.

If he comes I'll back him to the hilt, as I have Torres, how many of you can say that?

So with you bjd. David Speedie did everything Costa has done 30 years ago and the Chelsea loved him for it. Give me a player with passion and a win at all costs attitude every day of the week.

Another supposed option Cavani's been poor tonight wonder of he'll get slagged off

He has been poor, but I've also seen him play well, which (in limited games) I've yet to see from Costa.

Also as much as I'd like to see Cavani here, I think we've missed that boat.

SP for the first 18 months, practically every single poster on here backed Torres. If Costa is equally as poor, for as long a period, will you give him the backing and benefit of the doubt you have given Torres?

no one gave Torres 18 months, he got maybe 6 months, remember the thread before this 1?

I know Torres is finished as a player, but he doesn't deserve 99% of the accusations that are aimed at him on a personal level i.e doesn't care, not trying, players forced out, maagers sacked etc etc.

If Costa behaves with half the decency that Torres has, then yes he will get my support!

I've never seen a good performance from Cavani whereas I've watched Costa play superbly for Atletico. Not that Cavani is crap but just making a point that it does depend what games you see these players in. Also as I've said before you can't really rate how good a player is based on internationals.

Therein lies the difference. I suspect most of us on here don't judge a striker by his decency SP.

Performances, goals, a positive attitude yes. Decency? Nice to have but not top of the list IMO.

I agree, so far I'm not excited by Costa, I hope he proves me wrong!

Unless his name is David Luiz right?

When was the last time you saw anyone back Torres as a player?

If you want to attack a player on a personal level, that says as much as I need to know about you!

It's a game FFS!

Before your time I'm sure but David Speedie was a quality forward for us Stim. In one of the most attack minded teams Chelsea ever had.

Don't get so aggressive SP. If Costa comes just give him the support and time you have given Torres. Nothing more or less.

The point was lost on you, as you were intent on slagging Torres off as usual.

The point was if Costa is useless for us, then as long as he conducts himself in the correct manner I will back him, if he acts like a cock then I won't.

Simples dimples

Please. You always bring it back to Torres. Where was I slagging Torres off in my previous posts?

I think you have already made your mind up on Costa before he has even arrived. I bit unfair I think but perhaps I'm wrong.

Last reply to you on the subject, scroll back a little, you'll notice I've stated I hope he proves me wrong.

Everyones entitled to an opinion, mine is £32m seems a lot for him, and I hope we're not buying a reputation as opposed to a talent.
