March 17, 201511 yr Awful pen, how can so many players sky pens? I honestly think there's no excuse to not hit the target on pens
March 17, 201511 yr Terrible pen, blasted over the bar. I was hoping at least one Spanish team would get knocked out.

March 17, 201511 yr Bloody hell, a couple of horrible penalties there from Toprak and Kiessling, utterly awful. Great save on Koke's penalty though, was definitely surprised to see Torres convert so well. Ultimately the better team won, great game though, made for a very enjoyable evening. So in the quarter-finals: Atletico Madrid Bayern Munich Monaco PortoPSGReal Madrid----- Barcelona/Man City Borussia Dortmund/Juventus Looking forward to tomorrow night!

The article actually starts off Football Association chairman Greg Dyke has expressed his concern at the "scary" increase in incidents of players surrounding referees. The number of confrontations of match officials in the professional game in England has almost trebled since last season, figures show. The FA wrote to clubs in England's top five divisions in December to remind them of their responsibilities. "The whole game needs to ensure it is addressing this issue," said Dyke. What constitutes 'surrounding a match official'? The FA says an offence of this nature has been committed when three or more players of one club approach an official in a confrontational manner. At this stage last season, the FA had charged six clubs for not controlling their players. This term, the number has risen to 16. Clubs have been warned following such incidents on 29 occasions, compared to 14 this time last year. "We have seen a pretty scary increase this season in the number of clubs charged with their players surrounding referees," Dyke said. "I believe it is particularly important for professional clubs to set an example so that this kind of conduct is not replicated at grassroots and youth level." Didn't realise the issue had actually gotten that bad but those are some shocking statistics.

March 17, 201511 yr Fair play to Mertesacker said best team over two legs went through. Wenger however said to look at the shots on target to see which team should have gone through. What an idiot shots on target mean nothing. They could all be sh*t shots from outside the area, f**king tosser.
March 17, 201511 yr Still not as bad a penalty shoot out as the Sunderland v United one last year Thank you for reminding of one of my none Chelsea related games of all time haha. Bardsley.....

So fa are clamping down on this, fair enough...but who is tackling the sh*t refereeing we are seeing on a weekly basis which is causing players to lose the plot in the first place?
March 17, 201511 yr sh*t, Torres has progressed in the CL further than Chelsea.... But again shows the small margins at this level...1-1 on aggregate, 3-2 on pens
March 17, 201511 yr and the club has only been charged once if Mourinho is correct. Yes. Personally I think there should be stronger sanctions for clubs doing that and I've avoided criticising Jose for instructing players to get around the ref in the PSG match (which I believe he did) but it's not particularly good to see. That's just my view though. The way refs are treated in football is disgusting. So fa are clamping down on this, fair enough...but who is tackling the sh*t refereeing we are seeing on a weekly basis which is causing players to lose the plot in the first place? The PGMOL I expect. We have a problem with refereeing in this country but the speed of the game and the fact that refs see incidents once is something a lot of fans overlook. If you want better refs then you need to protect them better and that starts with changing the way players think they can treat them. Book any player or group of players who surrounds the ref (apart from the captain) and you'd solve the problem in 3 weeks.
March 17, 201511 yr Tbh were in a strange time with football there is no dominant side anymore. In Europe for years Barca were the top side and were always there or thereabouts in the CL but now it feels like just about anyone can beat anyone.
March 17, 201511 yr Ancelotti has just become 4/9 favourite to become our next manager, Earlier on in the day he was 5/1, I was hearing on revista that they said he would definitely leave Real in the summer but I thought he would be going to boys in red down the road, To move odds of 5/1 to 4/9 would have taken £20/30 k being bet, Someone knows something we don't, Mind you this comes on a day when Ronald Koeman publicly said he speaks to our CEO Txiki Begiristain regularly and he has his number if he wants him to become our next manager. I'm excited with the prospect of Ancelotti or Koeman but this is all a bit disrespectful to Pellegrini, I also find it funny this comes a day before our biggest game of the season.
March 17, 201511 yr I hope Ancelotti never comes back to the BPL unless its to our club. I think I'm pretty straight forward with my feelings that him and Mourinho are the two best managers in the game right now. I'd genuinely be worried if he went to City.

Sure, but there is no excuse for some of the decisions given or not given this season and I'm not just talking chelsea here, although we have a list longer than amount of people Jordan has shagged

I wouldn't...think he is a nice guy and will have positive impact at first...bit like with us, and now Madrid...so could be big first season...but still doubt what impact he will have in long-term because I don't see what he does to change games tactically when they go wrong
March 17, 201511 yr There's also reports in the Spanish press that Ancelotti could be sacked if Real lose the clasico this weekend with Zidane taking over charge temporarily.
March 17, 201511 yr Bottling it at the last 16 stage for the 5th year in a row? Arsenal. This is quite an achievement to be honest
