This is the 5th season in a row Arsenal have been eliminated in the last 16, if you think there is some pride in that then I think I'm going to start gloating about not losing to the mighty PSG.

English football having it's worst year in how long?

Said it before elsewhere but the quality amongst the top teams is lacking. All 4 teams outplayed, 2 by French teams.

To be fair one of those French teams has spent a stupid amount of money and are littered with class players.

Monaco however....

You could say that...you could also say they went out to a much more inferior side than PSG, plus suffered a greater humiliation of losing 3-1 at home

unbelievable isn't it, they got mullered at home 3-1 by the worst team left, yet they are being praised for it.

Thing is it's a recurring theme for Arsenal and City, for us it's just one bad year and they've lumped us all together. Was it a crisis when Chelsea was doing well on everyone's behalf?

Why? I'd prefer them to get through

I agree, I think they're more likely to give Barca/Real/Bayern a run for their money and I'd rather none of them got an easy ride to the final. It is nice being able to watch the Champions League as a neutral, I feel like I can appreciate the quality of football more as a football fan rather than as a Chelsea fan.

Three of Leverkusen's back four are on yellow cards by the way, and given the intimidating atmosphere and frantic pace of this match (and the increasing tiredness which will come from playing more than 90 minutes) I wouldn't be entirely surprised to see a red card.

What has happened at United has played a big part in it too. It was always us and them going deep into the CL every year, now it's all on us.

City haven't got the coach for it and Arsenal and Liverpool aren't good enough.

Fantastic u-turn from the commentators after having a good laugh while accusing Raul Garcia of theatrically diving after what he was claiming was an elbow to the chops... before realising there was blood pouring down his face.

Gerry Armstrong had a go at Garcia for going down like he was shot, that he wasn't touched. Then when he saw the blood on his face said it was a fingernail did it. Finally showed a replay showing Garcia getting caught by an elbow.

edit; Ha, beaten to it

At least Arsenal went out with a bit of pride, they tried and got very close. Instead of going out with a whimper against 10 men.

Ouch.

Armstrong's a dick, he moans about everything yet never calls Barcelona players for it .

Once we get knocked out tomorrow night be prepared for the Carragher, Neville and Souness rant about how the Premier League is awful and we're a million miles away from teams in Europe, Sometimes you win, Sometimes you lose, Do we always have to have a drama queen mentality when our sides lose in Europe?

Yeah of course it's not ideal for us to be out but watching it now there's a sense of relaxation and just been able to enjoy the football. Of course ai don't want certain teams to win it but won't lose sleep if they do. A Bayern vs Bayern final would be very tasty.

I'm hoping your lot win tomorrow tbh but can't see it if I'm honest

But yesh no doubt, end of the day we don't have a right to get further than anyone else. I think the media were very disrespectful towards Monaco and co tinued to be. Tydlesleys final words after the game were something about how Arsenal should have really not struggled against Monaco.

Someone on here has already bemoaned the English teams, the PL and so on.

I agree...there have been loads of lazy articles about it...only three years since chelsea won champions league, got to semis last year...ok other English clubs, especially your lot, need to step up, but these things go in cycles...with pl richest league in Europe, they can spend their way back...also I hate the presumption that teams should win, have automatic right...ok arsenal should really have got past Monaco, probably say the same for us with PSG, but that's football...

Even if both clubs had, there is still the small matter of Real Madrid, Bayern, probably barca etc to get past...no easy task

Still we can look forward to the Clyde & co comedy half hour show.

Haha Claude's gonna be great, probably will moan about the first leg, Giroud and Wenger.

On another note some Arsenal fans I know said they thought Ozil was a beast. Did I miss something? I thought he was shocking yet again.
