Is Falcao really that good?

Featured Replies

I know he was one of the best in the world probably top 5 about 2 years ago but he's older and coming off a devastating injury. Yes he's done ok in the weak French league but is he still as good as he once was or is he living on his reputation?

No-one knows how effective he'll be after his injury yet, he's played 3 competitive games since coming back and scored 2 goals, 1 of which was a penalty.

Other than that it's all guesswork.

This is it there are several factors here, he has sustained a knee injury and we have yet to see him come back. He is adapting to a new league and who knows he might take to it like a duck to water. I really think people need to stop questioning him or saying he's garbage etc until he's had a in of games for United. Whilst United haven't exactly strengthened in the right areas, the talent they have could gel and who knows what could happen. We need a lot more people with a 'let's wait and see' attitude rather than more mystic meg's on here.

He was the best centre forward in the world, but we'll have to wait and see now.  He could easily turn into a Torres for them.  Risky transfer if you ask me.

Some of his goals have been awesome, but the same can be said of Torres. People that have had the ACL injury are said by some in the medical world to comeback stronger. Can't see it myself, but cannot say i'm any kind of an expert. I aleays had the view that once you break something the fixed version is never as strong as the original.

Good, his great, I have seen him pluck birds out in the air, oh wait you said a Falcao, sorry I'm talking about a Falcon.

It's only a loan, it hasn't all been agreed yet has it?

I thought the loan was only for FFP reasons and that they have already agreed a transfer for the end of the season.

Word is its a £50m fee but as a work around of FFP its been declared as a loan.

Don't know if that's true or not but would make sense I suppose.

As for Falcao, no doubting he had talent up until his injury but by not playing consistently in Europe there's always been a bit of a question mark about whether he's a real elite player.

I've never believed he was the best CF in the world because the Zlatan is/was always better in virtually every way possible. I'd say at one point Falcao was top 5 CF's in the world but #1? Never.

We both agree this is highly risky and I have a feeling he ends up with around 8-9 goals all season and is declared a bust given the €24 million his loan and wages are costing them. Great decision by Monaco to make quick cash and get him back in the far weaker French league next season where I think it suits his current form better.

you mean the best futsal player in the world? Really, more impressive than Ronaldinho in his peak

Ronaldo Nazário

Ronaldo Assis Moreira (Ronaldinho)

Cristiano Ronaldo

----------

Paulo Roberto Falcão

Alessandro Rosa Vieira (the Falcão from futsal who inherited the nickname from his father, who was a look-a-like of Paulo Roberto Falcão)

Radamel Falcão Garcia Zarate (the colombian player, his father gave him the 2nd name Falcão in honor of Paulo Roberto Falcão)

really, if I have a son and I want him to be a great and famous footballer, I will name him Ronaldo Falcão. LMAO

I suppose anyone with a decent knowledge of etimoly will guess that Falcão is the portuguese word for Falcon. (in spanish it´s Falco, but Radames is named Falcão after the brazilian player Falcão)

Falcao is an amazing player.

I think was would be a more correct statement. He scores basically a tap in and all of a sudden he's the greatest. Look at aguero or costa look at their stats and see how current world class does it.

He's just back from an ACL injury, into a new team in a new league. It is way too early to write him off.

He is quality.

I'm not writing him off entirely just comparing to real world class strikers. Look at aguero look at costa look at Suarez. Then look at how Falcao has done so far. He's decent but the ones I mentioned from day 1 were tearing up the league. It's been what 4 or 5 total games and Falcao has 1 goal. He's had a slow start you can't deny that.

I thought he was garbage against Everton and has been pretty poor in general so far, he'll likely improve though, particularly now he's managed to score.

Koppins Suarez never got going in the league until his second season.

Didn't he score on his debut.

If I remember right he signed in January and got about 7 goals that half season.

Suarez was quality even in his first season, but he was so poor in front of goal he would miss clear chances or hit the bar. I'm sure he hit the bar about 7-8 times or something like that in his 2nd season under Dalglish.

After that they played West Brom first game in Brendans first game for the club and he missed about 3 sitters and I remember they where all having a go at him on match of the day but then after that he didn't seem to have a problem with finishing again. As a matter of fact he became very clinical.

I'm hoping the same happens with Hazard, I'm not talking about the finishing and they are different players in different positions but I hope Hazard leans to take more advantage of his talent. What he did against Arsenal is something he can do against any team, absolutely fantastic, but a lot of times I've seen him be far to hesitant, I hope he really kickstarts his game on an even new level this season. I trust in Mourinho to know what to do with him.
