Was just wondering if anyone has heard anything on Hazard signing an extension to his contract? I know a couple of months ago Mourinho had said he "expects" him to, but as the months go on I begin to worry. I don't think we could afford to lose such a talent yet and it's worrying that he hasn't committed his future just yet. I hope it gets sorted before the summer transfer window. Thoughts?

it needs to be sorted, we need to tie him down for the long term, much like sp*rs have just done with Kane. he is such an incredible talent Eden and he is certainly someone i don't want leaving the bridge anytime soon!

Completely agree. I'm not sure what the hold up is. Possibly a game of numbers, or maybe waiting to see if we end up with trophies this season. Either way, they have to get him to commit his future before summer.

personally i think there's been noises in the background and that hazard's head may potentially be turned at the prospect of playing for real madrid. when real want a player, they dont often lose out. £100m and hazard is gone - just my personal view on it before anyone jumps down my throat about it.

There really is no precedent for it happening under Roman so it's hard to know how it would turn out, but if he were to go it would be a world record transfer fee which would give us massive scope to reinvest.

i just think that if they come in and he wants to go, then there's no way we would keep an unhappy player when we could realise that kind of value. mourinho said it himself this transfer window, he may not want to sell, but if someone "creates a market" and the players want to leave, then they'll get sold.

 

Not suggesting hazard "wants" to leave, only time will tell if that is indeed the case and would only likely happen were real madrid to come in for the boy.

all players mourinho wanted to get rid of, not the case with eden...there have been too many noises both here and in his native belgium that he will sign...that doesn't mean madrid won't come calling in the future, but think it won't happen yet...there is no room for him there right now

but as mentioned before, all those players were here before Jose, and I considering the fact that Jose's going to be here for the near future, he's not leaving.

 

But, I won't argue that if Real Madrid come calling one day he won't seriously consider it, I think it was either himself or his brother, or something, who said that for Eden playing for Real Madrid would be a dream, and I can't blame him, it's Real Madrid after all.

 

That said, I highly doubt he'll leave in the next 5 years unless Jose does, he'll win the bunch with us and if he's 30 and Madrid are still after him, I'd live with it, I wouldn't be happy but I'd live. Another thing is if he even wants to leave us after being here for that long, time will tell, but he's here now and for the near future, let's enjoy watching him play.

Not at all. Robben was not really in favour with Jose at the time he was sold. We refused to meet his contract demands I beleive and so I think it was the clubs decision that selling him was the best option. I think it was a similar sale to the likes of Mata and Luiz.

Seen reports on the internet, some from Belgium, suggesting that the contract has been agreed but that for whatever reason they won't announce it until the end of the season. Could just be speculation but it wouldn't be the first time that this has happened.

Maybe his contractual wages hinge on what we win.
