Glen Johnson coming back next season

Glen Johnson to come back, plus a new centreback.

If we add a new striker to that, it sounds like a pretty good squad to me.

I remember reading somewhere else that Mourinho plans on moving Ben Sahar up to the senior squad next season - so the extra striker could well be him.

I'm glad that Jose is going to show some faith in Johnson. It would be great to see him come back, and make the right-back spot his own.

It will also be good for the squad, as he can cover right wing and centre-back if needed.

JOhno is a great wing back, and I have to admit I think his defensive abilities are getting better. Him and Cole on either side would be a great threat going forward, I just wonder how much they would expose Terry and Carvs or whatever other CB we get?

What ever happened to Alex? Is he a CB, if so maybe we will be getting him!?

this is good news, with him and ashley playing at the same time, we will have two of the best attacking defenders going forward...defensivly though, he scares the living hell out of me...anyone remember the barcalona match at the bridge, where he just let Eto'o have the ball in front of the open net?

Glen is'nt good enough in my opinion.

I dont know why Jose is so keen to bring him back.

Yes he's young, yes he's English, but that's about it...

Glen is the best English right back since Gary NEville.

He's great going forward and is strong in the tackle.

Pace allows him not to get caught out too often and has good footwork.

I would welcome him with arms wide open.

We must be talking about a different Glen Johnson then?

The one im talking about is also good going forward, and has quite a bit of pace, but defensively is a liability. Always caught out of position, and rash in the tackle.

He played against Man Utd in the FA Cup this season at Old Trafford, and was Pompey's weakest defender.

Sol Campbell was their best.

Can't be worse than Del Horno was for us last season?

Or Paolo Ferreira this season?

Glen showed at the start of this season how, with a few games under his belt, he has the quality to push for a starting place.

I considered this thought early this morning:

We buy Miguel, bring back Glen, and we have 2 RB's for next season.

Sell Paolo, he can't cut it any more and doesn't give us attacking options down the right.

Push Geremi to right midfield. That way, we don't need to buy another winger anymore. Even if SWP leaves, we have more than enough cover there (assuming Cole and Kalou are also drafted into those positions).

geremi right wing gives me nightmares... right side of a 4 man midfield, yes, but as one of what should be a front 3... god no!

but, great news re: johnno... although I wouldn't be surprised to see 2 of our rightbacks go (i.e. geremi and paulo) with another attacking one come in as first choice (dani alves possibly?)
