Papy Djilobodji

To be fair the passport story hasn't been invented (at least not by anyone on here), there are some (admittedly tenuous) sources which make the same claim:

After two appearances in Chelsea's central axis, Papy Djilobodji was to travel to the USA with the squad to prepare for the new season.

But according to information obtained by wiwsport.com [senegalese sports website], the defender had a problem with his passport. According to one of his relatives, his absence is not down to a decision from the manager:

"In fact I wanted to let you know that if Papy hasn't travelled to the USA with the squad (which was in Austria before leaving for the USA) it is that, while he certainly had a passport with a 10-year visa, but he wasn't in possession of this travelling document. This meant that he thus had to return to England to get them. However, when he returned he did not manage to find his passport. Unfortunately for him, the group had already left. It was not that Conte wished to exclude him from the squad (as some seem to think). I was with his father (Djilobodji's father) when he made the declaration of loss," assures the player's relative.

Possibly different documents are required when travelling outside the EU. Possibly the story isn't true.

I just posted that to show that this wasn't something Jon made up off the top of his head.

It could be a blessing in disguise however unfortunate it is for him personally.

He will be well behind the other lads in terms of preparation now missing out on the tour so means that he is less likely to command a squad place you would think.

A new CB and our current options would no doubt have seen him surplus in any case I'd have thought.

You need your passport to travel outside the EU and into the US. For EU citizens a national ID is also valid to travel into/from the UK from/into the EU. Being Senegalese I guess that he is required to travel with his passport with the visa in order to get out/into the UK into/from the EU. The whole thing makes no sense to me, apart from the fact that how long does it take to get a new passport with visa for a footballer?

I'm so glad you aren't in the coaching ranks.  I really admire Conte's willingness to test everyone we have, develop players that need work and to have multiple options in the squad.

In that case definitely sell him, as not only is he a sh*t defender he`s obviously an idiot. If he lost his passport then he would definitely have been able to get emergency access to the US by now. The fact his "relative" has came out with this story is laughable, and quite obviously bullsh*t.

Did you even watch our pre season games? If so I'm baffled you think there is a place for Pappy.

He was woeful

The prosaic (confirmed) reason as to why Papy never went to the USA with the rest of the team:

He lost his passport.

Makes sense.

He's forever losing the man he's supposed to be marking so why wouldn't he lose his passport too.

That's exactly my point, you saw him play twice and have made up your mind.  You do it for a number our players and regardless of their performances elsewhere, they're written off.

As I said in my post, I admire Conte's willingness to at least put him through his paces, find his flaws and hopefully work on them.  You have this elitist view of our club.

He has French nationality after spending 6 years in France. So he only needed his ID card.

I have no idea on the details as to where and when.

Who do I do it for, go on give me names then?

Are you talking about Cuadrado who had 15 appearances all in for us? Are you saying that's not enough time to judge if a player is going to fit in or do well?

Papy whenever I have seen him and it's certainly more than twice has not once looked a top level defender. The fact 2 (now 3) of our managers seem to have excluded him from our side back up the opinion I have of him.

Dude just don't waste your time on that guy honestly

I suggest holding your horses with the 3. You are more than a bit presumptive.

I would suggest that those yearning for the better days of a poster whose interest was solely in disruption and self-repetition rather than a particular area of interest (perhaps expertise for all we know) ought perhaps to find a bit of perspective.

Unfortunately this place has way more than it used to. Maybe Blue Daze wasn't so bad after all

To be honest Bobby, I feel that it is posters like yourself that no one should waste their time with.

As soon as someone challenges the status quo or the general feeling that you or Chelsbear have for a player, we (and I can say that now you've directly referred to me) get told we are bringing the forum down.  I rarely (probably never) get heated and try to contribute as best I can whilst being light hearted all the same

I do want to know why some posters have this elitist view of both themselves or the club.

I'll keep posting the way I do so new posters don't get turned away for thinking differently to yourself.

Ok, I was just speaking from what PloKoon13 quotes Papi's relative was saying (in the quote below).

If he had a passport with 10 years visa, then this passport is not European (no need for a visa within the EU). If he is French, travelling within the EU with his ID is OK, and he would just need an electronic French passport, no visa required, to enter the US. But, how long does it take for the French authorities to make a new passport? I would have thought that Chelsea would have helped him to get the paperwork done at the French consulate and he would have got a new passport pretty quick. Then pay online the ESA and off he goes to the US to join the team. But as I say, I am just talking about what I would have done in his position and I don't know how he is proceeding or how long it takes to get a new passport from the French authorities.

Alright mate yeah yeah, it's a wonder people who've been posting here years stay in the random chat thread since posters like you have arrived isn't it? :laugh2:

Don't you ever think that, ever. Though I'm fairly sure he's back.

@Vat Butsen, I think you shouldn't waist your time either with Chelsbear because SHE is always right in all her opinion.

Chelsbear and Dkw is the same lady with just different accounts so don't fall for it!

Referring to posters as woman in an attempt to be rude/offensive to them isn't on.

I'd edit and delete your post if want to try and save face,
