February 8, 201610 yr how good was he for Chelsea.and what year, cheers ,I believe he starded his career with Greenock Morton.
February 8, 201610 yr I remember David Hopkins, was about when I first started supporting Chelsea. I never rated him much myself as a player. Craig Burley also comes to mind aswell. How come you ask?
February 8, 201610 yr Didn't he end up at Leeds at some point? The red haired fella, yeah? I vaguely remember him.
February 8, 201610 yr I remember him albeit vaguely, ginger haired scottish lad. I don't remember him doing a great deal for us, no offence intended as it must be 20-25 years ago. Bloody hell, I'm getting old!! Why do you ask? Edited February 8, 201610 yr by JAT
February 8, 201610 yr How good was he? Average. Was a winger mainly but think he played a fair bit in midfield too. Not sure when he made his debut but he was a squad player in 93/94 and the most notable thing he did was ping the ball over the Gavin Peacock to thump the ball into the net against Wolves on our FA Cup run. Think it might've been the game that got us to the semi against Luton because I recall it being on TV too. Apart from that he was pretty anonymous and you'll probably find most people confuse him with Craig Burley, which must be awful for Dave.
February 8, 201610 yr Yeah from wat I remember he had no teeth either, and a long throw Wasn't it Burley who had no front teeth? The long-throw thing is true though.
February 8, 201610 yr I always thought he was better than he got credit for, but then again it was always between him a Burley as to who was going to play. A real grafter, put in total effort every time he was on the pitch but lacked a bit in ability. I think we did bring him down from Scotland and he definitely went on to play at dirty Leeds for a while. Don't remember anything significant that he done. Ugly sod as well.
February 8, 201610 yr Yeah he was okay, we were a mid-table team at the time so a decent enough player for us. I think Hoddle really rated him at the time but don't quote me on that. The thing I remember the most though was that his red hair clashed with our tangerine and graphite away strip.
February 8, 201610 yr dave hopkin was just a journey man type of player not great but average scottishlad with ginger hair and no front teeth [which I think has been mentioned]......if you are a researcher just google wikapedia ..will give you all his career stats

February 10, 201610 yr Played on the same school team as him back in the early 1980s. Port Glasgow High School. He was head and shoulders above the rest of us football wise. He started at local club Greenock Morton then moved to the Bridge. He moved to Crystal Palace and scored a last minute Play Off Winner at Wembley. He then moved to Leeds Utd . He won 6 Scotland caps.
