Alexandre Pato has joined fellow striker Radamel Falcao and goalkeeper Marco Amelia in leaving Chelsea.

Brazilian Pato, 26, moved to the club on loan from Corinthians in January, scoring a penalty on his debut in a 4-0 victory at Aston Villa in April.

He made his only start for the Blues in a 1-0 defeat at Swansea a week later.

Falcao returns to Monaco at the end of his loan while Amelia, who signed as cover for Thibaut Courtois but did not feature, becomes a free agent.

Good riddance to Falcao.

 

Amelia I have no opinion on.

 

Pato in my opinion deserved more of a chance, and if you trust reports we could have made the deal permanent for £8m or so which in today's market is peanuts and shows little risk. Plus with us potentially playing 2 up top we could use another striker. However, we don't know what went on behind the scenes and I get the impression he trained poorly, something Conte would definitely not stand for.

Thanks guys, this is undoubtedly the right decision. I just wish they'd all played for us five years ago instead.

If Cuadrado goes too it'll already have been a good transfer window.

Would have kept Pato, especially if Remy is going; Pato is only 26 wouldn't have been a bad 2nd or 3rd option IMO...we might regret letting him go unless Michael and Co have got some trick up their sleeve because I can't believe its going to be Costa and the kids....but who knows.

I'm willing to take one for the team and take their place- I can sit on the bench wrapped up in a coat keeping the seat nice and dry, take a mean Instagram photo, and am more than happy to be paid a 6 figure sum per month in the process. Sign me up, Conte...

Costa, Batshuayi, Pelle and Traore would be ideal IMO.

Conte will know all about Pato from the Italian days I am sure he sanctioned this.

The great news is there are vacancies upfront .... I wonder who they have in mind ?

Falcao....why did we even bother? It was as plain as the nose on your face that he was broken.
