July 18, 201610 yr Looks sickening. Seen a few howlers but that's probably the worst yet, doubt he will be back.
July 18, 201610 yr After all the posts how sickening it looks, I refrained from looking. Poor Demba, please let it not end his career.
July 18, 20169 yr Hope he recovers from what looks like a career threatening injury. He will always be special in Chelsea fans hearts. Edited July 18, 20169 yr by DELBY
July 19, 20169 yr It's not quite on Luc Nilis levels but it's pretty grim. I hope he recovers; he's a really good striker who scored some massive (and hilarious) goals for us. It's a shame he didn't get more starting opportunities with us considering the alternatives at the time.
July 19, 20169 yr Should I watch it or not? No!!!I saw it yesterday, but then any other time I recall seeing it, it's so horrible that I always tried to stretch my leg for no good reason.
July 19, 20169 yr I should have heeded the warnings to not watch. For those who are curious and tempted to watch, hopefully a description will dissuade you. Basically, imagine snapping a wooden dowel in half. Only instead of a wooden dowel, it was Demba's shin bone (I think it's called the tibia). If he were 10 years younger, he might be able to recover. As he was nearing the end of his career, I doubt he'll ever play again. For those going to the first game, perhaps you could make a banner? Or if there's a Chelsea staff member who reads these boards, maybe the club could have an online page for fans to leave messages in one place. In addition to the physical pain, it must be really tough for him emotionally to end his career suddenly in the worst way in a country that's still very foreign to him.
July 20, 20169 yr I think the talk of retirement is premature. Many players return from serious injuries like a broken leg albeit the rehabilitation and recovery period will be extensive and long. Whether he has the motivation to go through it for the sake of returning to the game is ultimately his decision, but one way or another I hope he has a good recovery and he can full recover from a major injury.
