  1. 1. David Luiz...

    • Yeah. Chuffed. He's a geezer ain't he. Makes us laugh and that! Let's all be happy.
    • Nice guy, but why?
    • Meh. Better than nothing
    • Maybe Conte will improve him. (Cough cough)

Given, our defensive issues last year. And us struggling to get Koulibaly or bonnuci etc. getting Luiz as an alternative was a good decision. Very passionate player, works hard and is far more technically gifted than Cahill or Ivan. He may have the odd mistake in him, but he sure makes up for it.

Plus he has played for us, so settling down will not be a problem at all.

Nay for me but not by a lot.  Luiz with his reckless challenges and questionable positioning is the complete opposite of the imposing figure coupled with discipline that Koulibaly provides. It's still better than no new defender though.

So, he makes a few mistakes, don't we all ???  He was immense against us for PSG in the last 2 years so he must have improved as a player.

Always liked him and was sad to see him go. £16m profit and a stronger squad = HAPPY DAYS !!!

Considering the fact that we were likely to finish the transfer window without a defender altogether i am more than happy with this.

He will makes a few mistakes and cost us points but he can also score a few crackers, play some excellent long balls and will on the other hand win us a few points.

I'm happy about it, he seems like he generally wanted to come back, he can play several positions you can't doubt his motivation and its a CB which we needed

My heart says great my brain says WTF!

He's a great character - good to have in the dressing room, will be vocal - something our side is lacking other than JT so he might just be right to marshal us going forward. We all know he can be a liability at times - just gotta hope Conte get's the best out of him and we see a lot more good than bad.

Welcome back Geezer!

The more this went on the more i came to like it. I feel he's always a fantastic guy to have in the trenches and didn't really wan't to see him gone first time around but for 50 million it was just to good to be true. We lacked leaders last season and this guy is a leader. In a back two he could be a bit risky but playing a back 3 sweeping, we could see the risk massively reduced. I think we could see something like this.

...................TBO.............

.....Zouma.........Luiz..........Terry

Azpi.................................Alonso

...................Kante.................

.......willian.............Matic...........

.................Hazard.............

..................Costa......................

Can easily go two up top, Oscar/fabregas/ Nathan are all interchangeable in midfield, luiz can step up in to DM, if need be with Ivan of Cahill slipping in, next season Christianson to come back.

In general I think the signings we have made give us flexibility and quality squad depth.

I wonder if the solidity offered by having essentially 5 defenders on the field would allow us to play Fabregas over Matic.

I actually think somthing like this could be crazy enough to work

..............Kante..............

Hazard................Fabregas

Mich................Costa

Its very attack minded but we still have 5 defenders plus Kante sitting.. They should be able to break down attacks. I just think 2 strikers in frount of Fabregas would be amazing, two moving targets plus hazard

I see a lot of people thinking we'll go with 5 at the back but i'm not sure that's the way it'll turn up.

I think we'll probably go for something like we had last 2 seasons as of a 4-2-3-1 and play with Fabregas along side Kante and probably a Hazard-oscar-willian or moses-hazard-willian rotation depending on form.

If we have a strong back 4 (hopefully we'll be good with Luiz and with Zouma coming back from injury) we can play more aggressively and more attacking.

If not, in my mind we'll probably go for something like a 4-3-3:

-------------------Tibo-------------------

------------Luiz----------Terry----------

Azpi------------------------------Alonso

--------------------Kante-----------------

----------Fab--------------Oscar(?)----

---Willian-----------------------Hazard-

----------------Costa/Bats--------------

I don't know. Can't wait to see us play though, hopefully we'll be awesome again!

It seemed like he was 'forced' out and didn't really want to leave when he did.

At least he has an attachment to the club. Hopefully Conte can fix him up. If Lucio could do it as he aged, maybe there's hope yet that Luiz can learn to concentrate for 90 mins on a consistent basis.

Courtois

Azpi, Luiz, Zouma. Alonso

Kante

Matic Fabregas

Willian Hazard

Costa

Would like to see this become the starting lineup as the season progresses with RLC, Cahill, Chalobah featuring heavily, also.

Got to be honest. It's not good that there isn't a single Englishman in that XI.

I'll wait to see how he does in his second stint with yay or nay, but we definitely needed a CB and he was probably the best what was available on the market. I didn't even expect him to be yesterday morning? Anyway, he is surely technically gifted, makes the odd mistake, but should be able to fit back in quite nicely defensively.

A big yay, he will bring a big presence to the dressing room, big presence on the field, a infecious personality which will have the fans on their toes plus his footballing ability & technical acumen, we will be on to a big winner, excellent signing who ever sanction it.
