In 3 seasons? Not really that much, 4 matches missed per season isnt that bad, especially when you take into account two of those suspensions were for accumulation of yellows and one was utter bollocks for daring to touch an Arsenal player. Its not great, but it certainly isnt that bad.

If you were talking about a defender or a midfielder who is committed to tackling and ball winning I'd agree.

But have to disagree when it's a striker.

On his day yeah, didn't have many though after the turn of the year did he.

Hand on heart, I'd have rather have had the 80m guy you're alluding to and not him in 2017.

He played sh*t in all those games purely because he's flat out greedy. If/when he leaves, I'll be grateful but no regret.

Na not many days, enough to score 20 twice and win 2 titles with us, imagine if the half hearted bum tried he would be worth 200 million

I said not many days after the turn of the year didn't I...

If your happy to give somebody a free pass for playing like a complete liability for most of 5 months, because he was good for the same period previous, go ahead, I'm not though.

Anybody who thinks his head wasn't blown after a sniff of Chinese cash is in denial.

As for Lukaku, I'm not his biggest fan, but it will be interesting to see what hed do with the Chelsea service instead of what he got from Everton. Maybe we'll find out soon.

Half season sounds nice, it's a new trend, chelsea FC are a half season team if looking back in recent years, not just him, he always tries and if he can play for 5 months like a complete liability and still score 20 he is some player isn't he?

Managed to score more than Drogs in his first 3 years, a lot more, won 2 titles 20 goals in each yet he is a liability....not bad that, for me he had 4 or 5 games in a row he wasn't playing as well other than that he had a good season marked by 20 goals and a league title.

It's no secret I like Diego and I want to keep him if we are able to do so on good terms, it now seems we can't, his issue is his disruptive nature not his footballing ability, to start questioning that it's bollocks, he is a top striker and the second best we have had at chelsea, I think people forget what a drought we went through for at least  3 years before he came.

iI's not easy to get a top striker that will consistently get you 20 goals in the PL,  there is kane, auguro and lukaku, the latter who lacks so much in the rest of his game. the football world isn't bursting with strikers than can bag 20 in the PL, the way he is dismissed and his ability questioned it stupidity.

He doesn't like London, he likes Madrid it's his f**king life, he always said he loves the fans, he won us 2 titles, he has his own reasons it's his career and life, he could have gone about it better, and so could the club/manager but it is what it is to hear him be called c**t, bitch, and other colourful names and now his ability questioned, what a load of fickle bollox.

I'm sorry to say I'm with you to the extent that Diego's hopeless post Christmas form seemed too bad to be true. So bad that it's hard to escape the notion that there was some purpose in it. I think it's harsh to say however that it's all about greed. Maybe the decision to deny his move to China P'ed him off, if that is the whole truth about that story, but now I think at least some of his stance is that he thinks he'll be happier in Madrid. That's fair enough, and at least he's been consistent about it. He only came here for the money in the first place and returning to a happier life will probably cost him some cash in lower earnings. At least it will if we stand firm on any possible claim to have his contract paid up.

lol. You mentioned 3 times in that post his ability is questioned, show me where I questioned his ability please, not just this thread either..the whole site..just once.

My point has always been how easily his head is turned for whatever reason and he let's it affect his game. I want the players who are completely committed, not ones who because they've got whatever issues, they become a passenger more or less.

As with anything we like consistency, we like knowing what we will get. With Costa you know that one day you can put him on the pitch, he can be a game changer and win the game for us. But he could also go out there and have one of those days where we would actually be better off with 10 men. A player like this is a problem, because it can come to crunch time, high importance games and can cost us big time. At least with most of the rest of the team you know they are gonna at least put in a mediocre performance at worst. For me Oscar had a similar problem, in a different way, thats why he's in China, if you can't trust a player to do a reasonable job when it matters you can't have them in the team.

Well FIFA rules means that AM can't buy and register him, and loan him out to another club for 6 months till January...so if AM want us to babysit him for 6 months and not play him in CL then they must pay us what we want...minimum of £40m

Hopefully there will be discussions with AM and if it goes well then perhaps Costa can train with A.M until the transfer ban is lifted in Jan and the money is settled in January.

I'm just thinking back to when he walked into the press room and started eating their food, do you want him anywhere near the club in this type of situation?

This is the precise reason we will not see him at the club

one thing that struck me during all the celebrations of the end of season was how unhinged Diego is, ready to erupt at any moment. It's quite clear he is literally uncontrollable. Only the over day me and my dad were discussing the next captain and Cesc was mentioned; and I though "even Cesc would have no chance" - the closet player to him.

It seems Conte has spotted this a miles off and I can't say I blame him - can any of you honestly say you would keep a member of your staff if they behaved like that? Although it's amusing to us - including me - it's not desirable behaviour for a manager.

"If you're happy to give someone a free pass for playing like a complete liability for 5 months" that was easy you referred to him playing sh*t only being good in his day not having many, you're come back will be oh that's not ability that's because he wasn't "trying" wellnill save you that's bollox, because he wanted to leave at the start of the season so what changed, to me when you say a player is sh*t half a season you're questioning his ability to be consistent, what about last season wasn't he trying, also first winning season he dipped off like the whole team, maybe it's  hard for a small squad even with no europe to put in high energy perfect performances week after week that's why you need rotation even in one competition the PL Is a tough tough league to win, it's nothing to do with he was not trying or "greedy" your whole greedy argument falls apart when we learn he wants to go to athleti most likely in half wages, china might not have even been true, he insists he wants to play in the World Cup, it always struck me as strange a fiercely competitive guy willing to take half wages to play at the club he loves is willing to go to china in his prime for money

Cahill will be captain if he manages to hold onto his starting spot. If not i think it will go to Luiz. Dave is a longer member and reliable, but Luiz is a much stronger personality. Plus as you can see from my pic, im a big fan of his!!

Ability and form are two completely different things.

A player doesn't become less of player overnight, but he can lose form for various reasons, I've got no problems with players having a dip in form, it happens to most attacking players every season, fitness, fatigue etc, but Costa beat himself mentally it seems, I'm not even saying he wasn't trying, his head went, there's a difference.

Went back to flying into wild challenges and snarling at refs, he's trying alright, but all the wrong ways.

So you're doubting the China stories now? But you're happy to believe he wants to go back to Atletico? Or maybe that's his only option? Conte doesn't want him does he? He's had doors slam shut in his face and right now it seems the Madrid option is his only one.....but probably not true.

If a season was a only half a season long, we'd be dominating for at least 5 years with Cesc, Oscar and Diego lulz.

I wonder though how many of us expected him to get booked much more frequently because of his silly/aggressive gestures?

I thought he'd get more red cards than Terry. It's the reason why opposing fans hate him and why we're constantly on the edge of our seats. Every game you'd have this thought "Please don't f**kin get booked, Diego".

Actually consistency is a type of ability but let's not knit pick, and yes he said he wants to go back to athletico so I believe it because it was actually said no one not once not him or our club said he wanted china, like I said doesn't add up you're calling him greedy yet at the start of the year he was pushing for athleticism on half salary and again he is so if he is greedy why does he want half his wages? Wasn't his only option at the start of the season was it?

Well he won us far more games than he lost us and even when he isn't scoring please watch what he does off the ball, since you want to know what you get one day great one day invisible you better sack half the with team exceptions of Dave and Kante our team performances are very up and down from some players especially hazard, fab and matic, that's not unique to us

Quite Simply our greatest striker since drogba left. Lets not forget what happened when drogba left. u might hate diegos diving play acting and woteva but his goalscoring ability and HEART cant be deined. Will gladly have him back over lukaku or anyother  striker.

when he was CFC top scorer in the prem CFC won the title twice in 2 years...nuff said.

I dont know about all the textgate b#llox , how factual are the papers ? usually not very,

Will miss him when he goes, but got his name on the back of a replica shirt to remember him by...Diego Diego Diego  !!

If by some chance he is our starting striker, what are the chances of him kicking off when Atletis transfer embargo is lifted in january?

Extremely high I would say. I have lost all trust him as a player that will give his all. As brilliant as he can be I am inclined to say he can bore off now. The sideshow EVERY transfer window is wearing a little thin by this point.
