Callum Hudson-Odoi

Good performance all things told, shame that his teammates refused to pass the ball to him. I still think he would have done better had we not been winning 4-0 and the game was tighter

Funny people are mentioning Willian not passing to him because it is a trend I have noticed happening that every time a youth player gets minutes he almost refuses to give them the ball. I don't know if Willian doesn't trust them or more cynically is trying to sabotage them but for a couple of years now he has refused to passist the ball to a youth player no matter what. He has even gone as far as losing the ball on a few occasions due to his unwillingness to play the ball to them.

Maybe. Just something he seems to do more then other players from what I have observed. Whether it's true or not, I don't know.

It's not.

Willian doesn't pass to anyone very often when he should. Youth player or not he loses the ball needlessly too often period.

He was en fuego against Hull, he was in the mood for a hat trick.

I suppose that is one way of making an argument for something, state a subjective opinion as a fact.

That could be the case. I have mainly noticed it with the youth players because I'm paying more attention to what they are doing usually. As good as Willian was yesterday, he isn't first team quality in truth and lacks the vision or the speed of thought to truly link up effectively with Hazard.

Hudson-odoi could get to that level but his problem is Hazard plays in the same position as him andown they will be competing for spots in the team.

In fact, the only attacking player we have bought who has been on the same wavelength as Hazard is Morata but even he has gone completely off the boil recently.

CHO could play opposite to Hazard. I think his first appearence he was playing RW and he certainly seems comfortable cutting inside a la Hazard. They both may favor the left but IMO having them swap wings in game would be largely beneficial for us.

I'd like to see more of Eden on the right as well so he can cut across to goal and start smacking them in with his left like Robben and Ronaldo do with their strong foot.

You guys think he will be involved against United?

I think he will probably be used, considering the ridiculously tough run of fixtures that we have, mental and physical fatigue is real, and we can´t use Hazard and Willian every game, so considering that he was on the bench vs Barcelona ahead of players like Emerson, i think that Conte see´s him as a real part of the squad.

Would be an absolute dream to see him start against United

Personally, I very much doubt it.

Hudson Odoi has within the span of a year gone from being the best player in the U17 team, to the best player in the U19 team to now be the best player in the U23/Development team when he plays there. And when he's featured for the first team, he hasn't look out of place either. Many players struggle with the age group transitions, having to find new ways to impact the game (often because they are not as physically dominant as they were before, or because they need to reduce the time they spend on the ball). Hudson Odoi has played his normal game in every age group he's been involved in so far (with the same result - he passes with accuracy, makes correct decisions on the ball, rarely loses the ball and beats players for fun), and surely that must be the safest sign of someone who's going to make it.

I've previously said that Hudson Odoi is the best youth player I've seen play for us, and I stand by that. He was the best player in the U17 final against Spain last year (as a 16 year old), doing whatever he liked with the spanish right back. Hudson Odoi is miles better than what other players in our club in his mould (pacey wingers, "small" attacking players) has been before, Boga, Musonda, Brown and many more. A start, and maybe even a cameo, against United might be too early, but if he were to be given playing time I'm confident he would have done what he's always done throughout different age groups - perform.

a few people on twitter saying he and leon bailey can be our future if hazard leaves. i dont' know enough about that bailey, but people compare him to robben.

He is clearly playing at a higher level then the U18's and was in second gear most of the match, despite being our best offensive players.  I don't think he will play against United but if he did I have no doubt that he can perform.

Bailey is the real deal. He might struggle initially with the Premiership (step up from Bundesliga), but he's another Sané in the making. He's too quick, technical and effective for most full backs and centre backs to deal with. However, if we could keep Hazard (should be our main priority this summer, both because it shows our ambitions and because he's our best player) and one of Pedro or Willian (Willian is better, but also has a higher sell on value), we could go into next season with Hazard, Willian/Pedro, Bailey and Hudson Odoi for as our wingers/nr. 10's. That's an upgrade on what we've had this year, and will give Hudson Odoi the right amount of chances as a 17-18 year old.

Why? I mean, he was involved against Barcelona FFS.

Conte clearly rates him very highly

Being named on the bench and being involved are two different things. If Conte thought he’d have made a difference he would have used him instead of only making two subs.

I think he just didn´t want to sacrifice Willian and Hazard, as both were having good games, and Callum would have to go in place of one of them

Probably the most impressive part about Hudson-odoi is the amount he has improved since the beginning of last season.

Last season to start with he was a talented player in a good Chelsea youth team. A standout but not a clear star of the side. When compared to the other attacking talents within his age group for the England U17 you would have to put him firmly behind Sancho, Gomes and Foden as the fourth best attacker. He was a great technical player with good passing who relied a bit too much on his pace to really succeed at the highest level.

Now, he is quite clearly the best youth player Chelsea have ever seen for natural talent and ability. His close control, vision, shooting, dribbling, passing range and agility/balance have all sky rocketed to a ridiculously good level. His performances have massively improved with every game and he is at a point now where he has clearly established himself as the second best attacking talent in a freakishly good generation of English forwards. Only Sancho would be considered better then him and it's really a testament to how far he has come a long as a player.

Is Sancho really better than him? CHO looks like a generational talent to me, an absurd combination of pace, outrageous skill, balance, strenght, decision making.... you name it, he´s got it all.

But like you said, the most impressive thing about him, is how rapidly he is improving, if he continues the way he has, he might become an actual senior member and a regular feature for our side by the end of the season! And for a player that wasn´t even in the reckoning at the beggining of the season that is ridiculously impressive and a testament to his abilities and dedication.

We have in our hands the best ever talent to emerge from our academy, we simply CANNOT f**k this up

Agreed on CHO being better than Sancho at this point in time. For the England U17 world cup winning side wasn't he starting ahead of Sancho on the left wing? Although admittedly Sancho is at a better place for his own personal development at the moment.

Sancho had to go back to Dortmund, as they were in the middle of the season, and he was a first team player there.

I think that when he went back Gomes started, but was quickly displaced by Callum LMAO.

None of them look as talented as Hudson Odoi IMO, especially Gomes

If he is like Robben, then i expect Bayern to go in for him eventually. Robben isn't getting any younger, this guy could be the perfect replacement.
