September 4, 20214 yr He's been promoted to the first team squad for training. By the way his full name is: Xavier Tshimanga Kamaluba Ntite Mukendi Mpoyi Mbuyamba Put Tomori's to shame!

September 5, 20214 yr Makes sense. I have read the plan was Frank wanted him involved with the first team right away, but his injury put an end to that plan. Given Zouma left and Kounde did not arrive it is a good time for TT to test out Mbuyamba, Given a lot are away for internationals he can take a real close look at him and see if he has recovered well from his injury mentally and physically and see where he is at. Could be a good option for the league cup and CL games against Zenit and Malmo.
October 7, 20214 yr i wonder if he will be training with the first team now that everyone is away on international duty. Maybe we should loan him out to Vitesse. I recently saw that Vitesse had a couple of games where the pure play time was under 52 minutes. Might be good to play in a defensive minded team, but maybe a championship team would be better. Or do you guys think he will get any minutes this season? Edited October 7, 20214 yr by azpi28
October 7, 20214 yr @azpi28 I got high hopes for him to be able to breakthrough so I would like him to stay in the first team and get noticed by Tuchel.

He only played 11 games for MVV which is second tier of Dutch football. For comparison, last week MVV lost to the Ajax Youth team 3-1. Chalobah for example has played over 100 professional games on a decent level before breaking through. With Mbuyamba being 3 years younger i think they will probably have something similar planned for him. I think he will get his chance but it will probably be a while, we might see him play a couple of times to get potential loan teams interested 2018–2019 → Ipswich Town (loan) 43 (2) 2019–2020 → Huddersfield Town (loan) 36 (1) 2020–2021 → Lorient (loan) 29 (2)

He's also competing against Levi Colwill, who is younger and already one of the breakout stars of this Championship season. By the time both are in line for first team selection Colwill is likely to have 40-50 games more senior experience, and at a higher level that Mbuyamba.

He will probably go on loan to a Premier League team, maybe Ligue 1 like Chalobah or another year in the Championship. i wonder why they don't send Mbuyamba out on loan, maybe there is no interest from any team that plays on a level high enough to be more beneficial to him then staying at chelsea. Even league 1 would be interesting in my mind. I would like to see him come through though but i think we have to be patient and just accept that we need to mold these players over a couple of years to be ready Edited October 13, 20214 yr by azpi28

Barring severe loss of form or injuries, it's hard to see Mbuyamba getting to the first team anywhere ahead of Colwill.
