The reason Gerrard didn't come to Chelsea was Liverpool fans put a Scouse fatwa out on him and said if he joined us it wouldn't be safe for any of his family in the city. Such a bunch of loveable rogues aren't they ?🤔

BTW I turned down an opportunity as you describe once, I didn't like the atmosphere of that company.

I think I would still turn it down. I've learned the hard way that it's horrible to be in a working place that makes you unhappy. It would probably different when you're unemployed. Then at least having a job would be preferable, I think.

That's a big reason I didn't join in the Willian bashing after he covered Conte's face with trophies.

If the latter was even half as unbearable to work with as reported that season I think his reaction was mild if anything.

In my last job in the Civil Service the atmosphere was terrible. We were being privatised and only a small number retained. 

I along with most others, took Voluntary Redundancy. It took me a few months to find employment again.

It was, however, such a great relief to leave that office.  I had been a Civil Servant for over 20 years and enjoyed it apart from that last place.

Was common knowledge that he only stayed at Liverpool because of the threats to his family and not because of a wage rise Chelsea would have blown them out of the water when it came to money. And I'm not a fan of Grealish but he's a boyhood Villa fan so are his family so he was probably upset about leaving them I'm sure if me or you played for Chelsea we'd be upset to leave regardless of the money we'd be getting.

I think the thing a lot of football fans dont realise/understand is at some point football becomes a job for these players and their attachment to a club diminishes way below that of a fan.
