Of course if Cucurella leaves it will only leave Caicedo and Santos in the entire squad that actually tackles for the ball.

    According to reports in Spain, Atletico Madrid are now planning an offer to sign Cucurella worth around €55m (£48m) this summer. The left-back has become one of Chelsea's most reliable players, but the Blues could still reportedly be tempted into selling the Spaniard for the right price.

    Whether £48m is that price is now the big question. At 27 years old, Cucurella is at the peak of his powers and that should not be ignored when Chelsea make their decision.

    Agree. Bit of a mixed bag; there are no quality LBs around, and I think if we are going the rampant overlapping FB route he is a bit average. Lewis Hall and Myles Lewis Skelly are two very interesting options.

    Found it very odd the club only increased his wages in the summer, and left the contract length intact. Come this summer he will have 2 yrs left. Won’t be surprised to see one of him/ James who is in the exact situation sold.

    He was fine at Brighton.

    This is something I can't get behind. Kerkez (a player I initially wanted and was incredible for Bournemouth) replacing Robertson being the prime example. Losing a player with that much experience and a constant in the starting XI for a long duration can have negative effectives. Van Dijk is being exposed for the lazy defender he is without Robertson bailing him out.

    Cucurella seems to be one of the most respected players at the football club and I don't trust our directors in the slightest with replacing him properly.

    I’m not as high on Cucu as some on here, finding him fairly limited defensively in total honesty.

    However as is pointed out above, there just aren’t any suitable alternatives that fit in the ‘BlueCo’ model.

    Lewis Skelly probably being the only feasible option (Egos won’t allow the resigning of Hall) but I imagine Le Arse will put a stupid figure on him.

    Ergo selling Cucu weakens the squad but strengthens the accounts. Which we all know means…

    Klopp?? You think Klopp would choose us after nearly a decade at Liverpool and Real Madrid on the brink of hiring him? I was worried I’d actually said something unrealistic but this is a horrific attempt at a gotcha.

    Lewis Hall leaving a FFP struck Newcastle for a massive transfer fee is a lot more realistic.

    Lampard’s family were West Ham and we signed him. Newcastle aren’t achieving anything and they need to sell for FFP. Not really controversial.

    Book value profit on a 27 year old? If this offer comes trough I fully expect blueco to take it.
