It's actually going to become quite difficult to win trophies. Much harder than it has been in the Roman years, due to the sheer number of rival clubs that are now equally well, or even better, funded by their friendly neighbourhood billionaires owner groups.

There are only 4 pots up for grabs every year, and one of those also has competition from all the top clubs in Europe.

I don't think any model of value growth will rely on stocking the trophy cabinet, but they will for sure expect us to be dining at the top table consistently, in order to attract the TV and Commercial Revenue that will be the big project plays ...

Yup . The Super League will help with making more money for our Americans

Oh right. They just gave us _£500m , as a gift.

Yeah, that's what Capitalist finance investors do , give money away .

I remember Manchester United as a hugely popular club in the 1970s and 1980s even when they weren't winning anything apart from the odd FA Cup ... practically all my school friends supported Man United, and this was all way before Ferguson.

I do broadly agree with you, though it remains to be seen how all that resonates with Boehly and Clearlake. I think they will have a multitude of ideas that are essentially new territory for a football club, and more aligned to a US Sports franchise model.

Because Man United is very successful at the 50s and at the end of 60s when they win the CL again after the Munich disaster, it is a fairy tale and I think it helps quite a lot to attract fans for it

your income can only increase if your popularity increase and getting more fans

keep losing wont get you more fans, because a lot of fans are glory hunters

How many years did we make a profit when we were winning everything under Roman?

i never said they just gift us, our club is under their name already, so what do you mean by gifting?

If you buy a house for your wife would you say thats a gift? You own that house too. It is not like the 500m they injected into the club wont be repaid when they sell it. They are definitely selling the club in at least double the price, I can for sure unless we get relegated or some crazy things happened

It's why I was such a big fan of Tuchel, we might not have been able to compete with City in the league but we were capable of beating every top side in Europe. We had a chance at winning pretty much every trophy. Meanwhile under Potter we're celebrating holding our own against Dortmund.

Yes agreed.

You definitely want a manager who can punch above their weight. It's why they went for Potter, as they believed that's what they were getting, based on his record in Sweden and at Brighton. Trouble is they have gone shopping in the wrong weight class. Tuchel can mix it up in the heavyweight class, and if he lands a good punch then he can take out the champion heavyweight, Potter is a good bantamweight, but has no chance at the weight that Tuchel was fighting at ...

can you read my comment? I already said they dont make money from year to year basis. They are an investment company, they bought us for 3b, and if 10 years later they sell us for 6b they already make a huge profit

You can only make 15~20m dividends at most even on a club like United, we arent even a public company like United, they wont be able to gather funds by raising money on the stock market....

1. The owner doesnt seem to care money that much as long as they can use it to sportwash them

2. Newcastle undervalued a lot given their history and size of fanbase, probably because of the mismanagement of Ashley, so it is a profitable business to them in the long run

So you don't need to win trophies to attract rich investors like you said ?

Exactly that, plus my generation of 7 year olds all wanted to be Georgie Best. I think the generation above us also wanted to be Georgie Best, but for different reasons LOL.

Even getting relegated in 1974 didn't halt United's popularity. Some hope in the lessons of history for us there, should we end up needing it 🙂

I reckon Rodgers is a good fit for us , knows the club, at Leicester despite injuries, no money for transfers and losing players to other clubs, he gets them.playing decent football

Let's not get carried away pal lol. He will do better with Chelsea than GP but there are better managers out there.

Funny how winning trophies is so crucial to the investors , but they are not going crazy about our poor season ?

Our fans are more concerned about their investment than they are 😛😛

You know how much Newcastle was sold? 300m, that is a really cheap price for a team in the EPL and have a massive fan base, that is because they sack ass and being sh*t for so long

Chelsea is sold for 3b, 10 times the price of Newcastle. And do you know why? Because we are successful and becoming a global brand

so if Bohley wants to make a profit 10 years later by selling us, he has to make us at least winning trophies every now and then and be competitive orelse he is not going to sell us for a big profit

None of us are bothered about a managers nationality. Not one person I know.

How you've got this "English" issue with the club is bizarre

And who says I'm bothered. I'm hypothesising why he was appointed as our manager.

Just because we ignore something or refuse to speak about it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I'm not going to be an ostrich and just bury my head.

They said they want a long term vision, so the team can be successful long term like the Dodgers, winning their division so many years in a row. Ofc we dont know if it would work, but thats what their plan I suppose. Being sh*t for 1 year wont make the club from 3b to 300m, but if we are sh*t for long term it will happen.

They make their profits when they sell up regardless of trophies, which you think is crucial.

Anyway, I hope they lose money on their investment, can't stand the thought of rich Americans getting more wealth for themselves out of our club

Maybe you think it exists but it actually doesn't.

There's absolutely no evidence he was appointed because of his nationality. That's something you believe , but without anything to substantiate it.

And you don't have to bury your head and ignore something that isn't there😝😝😝

if we suck ass for 10 years they wont make any profits, thats for sure

The fly in your trophies ointment is Tottenham, who famously haven't won any trophies for years, and yet (if media are to be believed!) are also on the point of being sold for a similar figure to what Clearlake paid for us ...

Stop worrying about our investors, they will walk away with a massive profit

I dont know why they paid so much, Forbes only value them 1.9b

Coming back to Potter ... it is really irritating that he hasn't been able to take 3 points off Fulham, West Ham and Southampton in our last 3 games. If he had, we'd only be 3 points behind Newcastle and would be right back in the Top 4 race with Tottenham in our sights and up next ...

You don’t have to be successful to attract rich owners, I never said that. I said if they want to sell us in a profit they have to make us at least somewhat successful on the pitch. Sitting at 10th every season will not help them to make a big profit at the end of 10 years unless the whole EPL get a mega deal that like triple the current one or some crazy sh*t

3 minutes ago, Sexyfootball said:

I wouldn't pay too much attention to Forbes - they're typically shilling for whoever pays them ... 🙂

And that’s the point, even when they were probably shilling for Spurs, it is still only valued at 1.9b
