That press conference was a disgrace, he’s creating a straw man argument citing injuries and “being calm on the touchline”, essentially trying to make the fans look stupid by essentially labelling us as apes who want him out because he isn’t shouting. Straw man argument!, we care about your clueless tactics and managerial nous in every aspect, not that other stuff; Potter genuinely thinks Boehly and the fans can easily be fooled like that?, unreal.

Potter has history for this.

Did a sh*t job most of his time at Brighton and when the Brighton supporters were booing him and calling for him to be sacked last year after they hadn't won in 11 games he kept making comments how he needs a history lesson because as a club Brighton are used to losing and they're higher now than they were before.

Short term success-managers like Tuchel sacrifice players for the good of the success

Go ask Mount, Chilwell, Silva, James, Sterling and the others if Tuchel sacrificed them.

They'd laugh at you.

Guarantee you that every single player in the squad bar perhaps Ziyech wants Tuchel back over Mr.Excuses.

We have all heard and used the "too good to go down" term, but we all know teams who have gone down despite having been in a good position.

No premier league team has ever gone from 10th to relegation in the last 15 games.

I am not saying Potter is not flawed or he hasn't made mistakes. He is absolutely flawed and has made mistakes in his time here. This is the pinnacle so far of his career and when you step up you are learning as you go. If we trust his leadership skills and his football philosophy we need to let him learn in the job. He is in the same boat with the players in terms of a new setting and a new era under Boehly in a completely new competitive environment.

For me Potter is the first coach in years to play players in their natural positions. He also saw that the material we have is better suited for 4 at back for long term. Short term success-managers like Tuchel sacrifice players for the good of the success. That is why we joked about putting any and all players as wingbacks. Potter seems to value players opinion. That probably in short term doesn't translate to on field success but could reap rewards in the long run.

One of the worst mistakes Potter did early on was play Pulisic and Sterling as wing backs. He completely destroyed Sterling's good early form by playing him anywhere but his best position. Gallagher is a CAM but has been told to play CM. Loftus-Cheek has played DM. Chalobah RB. He can't seem to make his mind up where Maduake should play, he moves him all over the place. He puts Aubameyang on the wing. He plays Enzo too deep. Mount has played CM, CAM, LW, RW, ST.

He's tinkering more than Ranieri.

Patty Nevin calls for balls...in this forum I have seen very little of it.

If anybody needs to grow some balls, it's Potter.

By the end, Tuchel had fallen out with a number of our players. He's not coming back.

You forgot Pulisic LOL

And Arteta started with:

Mustafi where we have Thiago Silva.
Sokratis where we have Fofana/Badiashile/Koulibaly
Maitland-Niles where we have Reece James.
Torreira where we have Enzo Fernandez.
Soares where we have Chilwell
Smith-Rowe where we have Felix/Mount.

And so on. It's a bullsh*t comparison.

If it was up to him Mustafi would still be there.

And he didn't start with Cedric, he signed him.

Even if Potter isn’t sacked now, he’s a beaten man. The squad are beaten. There’s no coming back from these type of terrible performances and results. We can all see a team when they’re not playing for a manager. Potter, at this point is just throwing players onto the pitch.

TalkSPORT are running with the story that Bohley is losing patience with Potter and he heard the jeerers and boos on Saturday. Other than that, there’s no media reports of sackings.

The club are in a difficult position. Back the manager and you lose the fans and players. Sack Potter and the media will destroy them.

Everyone should realize if (when if Potter stays on) we lose to Tottenham the next game against Leeds have officially turned into a relegation 6-pointer. After that we are going to Leicester which is a game we'll also lose if nothing changes. Then it's Everton which will be another 6 pointer and then we finish the season against City, United, Arsenal all away from home + Newcastle.

If we lose to Tottenham we are in a relegation scrap lads. Make no mistake about it.

It would require the entire bottom 5 teams to pick up over a point a game and us to have no more than 4 full stop.

Not going to happen.

Ok, so he didn't have £500m to spend and had to go for budget because they had no other options.
Your point is? I know you agree with me that Arsenals squad wasn't anywhere near our current one when Arteta started out. Our current squad is better than Arsenal's and he's top of the league while Potter got us staring down the barrel of relegation.

Its a stupid comparison.

He could have recalled Saliba instead of offering Mustafi a new deal.

Come on. Defend this first half, I dare you.

Being outplayed by the absolute fecking bottom of the league at home and losing against a team that has no manager.

"Give the bloke a chance"? For this? Feck off

f**k off yourself. Ok do it your way sack potter now, and what? I AM NOT A FAN OF POTTER OK.

They wont sack him

If they keep him all the media/journalist will blame the players and Potter, they can always have the high ground of 'we are in for the future and change the sacking culture from Roman' (and tbh, players are playing terrible for example Mount, for quite a long time already)

but if they sack Potter and things dont immediately turn around like 180 degree, media will question this ownership is clueless, sacking people too early, doesnt have a plan etc

The board has nothing to lose at the moment to keep Potter, we arent going anywhere, we probably wont go down, so it doesnt matter too much for them keeping Potter

I don't think he has "lost" the dressing room per se. I think to a man they probably all like him as a person, and his empathetic approach to people management. Probably only Aubameyang is the exception to that.

I think what they are all struggling with is the level of the football coaching and instructions they are getting, and the tactical set up for the matches. It must be chalk and cheese compared to last season.

It's virtually impossible if you have 11 point gap from 10th to 17th.

It is but this is Chelsea. We defy belief!

Anyways I agree, it would be ludicrous to the extreme if every team below us somehow got enough points and for us to lose game after game for us to be in a relegation battle.

Potter would have to be the most braindead moron if we ever go that far down from midtable

I agree.

On paper he only needs 3 more wins in 15 games to reach the historical 40 point safety threshold, but then again I thought he was easily going to get a minimum of 7 points out of Fulham, West Ham and Southampton, if not 9 !

Hire Zidane. Get the new manager bounce needed to push the team back to Top 6 at least.

The tools are there for a competent 4-3-3 lineup that can be switched to a 4231 at any point in the game. All it takes is a manager with charisma and tactical nous.

But you want to give Potter time, so.. here's your time

Answer the question. Was that Arsenal squad comparable to ours?

If you say yes you are bullsh*tting and you know it.

I don't need to answer because I'm not talking about Potter here but yes Arteta had a poor squad for his first 18 months largely because he was offering the deadwood new deals and signing crap.

He choose to offer the likes of Mustafi a new deal when he had arguably the best young defender in the world on loan, he choose to sign the likes of Cedric, Willian, sell Emi Martinez while building around a declining Auba who he then played on the wing to accommodate, Willian, yes Willian, up front.

The ones who are threatening relegation is upon us, literally cant do the maths, you need at least 7 of the bottom 10 to outperform us over 15 games by over 11 points. its simply not happening and is purely a scaremongering tactic by those bottlers we have in our midst.

Arteta just fluked on a good transfer window. He got Jesus and Zinchenko for good prices.

Had Tuchel convinced Todd to hijack those two moves in the summer, we might have been in a better place
