"YET" ??

I will give you and anyone else that wants to take the challenge 1000/1 odds we get relegated this season.

Put your money where your mouth is coombsie 😉

When we were under Roman we knew that a manager was going to be out in a few...it built us to that habit. We knew, players knew, media knew. The reaction from media and fans was many times: why was he sacked? He should have been given more time. What is this disposable culture? You can't just discard people like this...

Roman got a ton of criticism for it. He was labelled through it by media. Did he care? Not one single bit. He didn't care at all. He kept his head. This is absolutely what I am hoping Boehly does as well. If you let outside pressure get to you you have already lost.

One part of the coaches job is to handle negative talk from outside. At the moment it must be at its height. I really hope Potter gets the support from the club in all extension to that as well. If you back the coach you back him all the way.

Cheers for posting the Telegraph comments JM7.  Saves me trying to navigate past their paywall LOL.

Certainly an interesting set of observations from the ownership ...

On face value, it does look like Potter's getting at least until Xmas as an absolute minimum.

Let's hope Boehly and Eghbali's faith is rewarded, and that all the training ground work being mentioned finally starts to become evident in matches.

I’ve lost faith in Potter. However, in the back of my head, there is a voice saying that this is what a really thorough and quick rebuild looks like. I dont know, with a bit of luck in the latest games things might’ve looked very different - but that first half v Soton was very concerning. I dont know, I really want it to work but at the same time I find it really hard to believe. Just beat Spurs 5-0 and give us some belief, Graham. Please

And what if it goes wrong? What if we finish the rebuild, Potter gets next season and we are still midtable and worse? Right now that looks more likely than anything else.

Coach is already ensuring the likes of Mount and Gallagher, the kind of players we were supposed to build our future on is on their way out.

New signings will have been labeled flops at that point and will be extremely low on confidence and we have blown our "rebuild-budget" with nothing to show for it.

Does the next manager then get a dozen new players as well and two seasons minimum to get something out of us? Or is that only for Potter since he's a plucky lad from Solihull?

Right now Potter has half a new team who has played 3 premier league games together. Do you think that it's fair to judge him with so little chance to work with these new players, were not talking 2-3 players here.

Senior sources insist there have been a number of instances of Potter becoming upset and having tough conversations with players in the dressing room and during meetings. Potter is described as being intense at Cobham and there are no fears over his mentality. (@Matt_Law_DT)

Feeling inside Chelsea - Potter needs at least one pre season, he was brave to take the Chelsea job, sources noted how top managers don’t take jobs mid season and that Chelsea took a risk. (@Matt_Law_DT)

Brave to take the job. Huge downside, clearly. How would keep a straight face in interviews whilst pullign off a 6 fold salary increase. And don't talk about the possible severance, talk about state redundancy levels.

It's fair comment to say he's only had 5 of his players for 3 matches only, but it is also fair to say that he has had another 28 players for 22 games and 5 months (incoming injury point accepted 🙂 )

Is it really unfair to have expected some semblance of a team identity and playing style to have formed by now, that the new players then simply slot into ?

We are talking about a "top" coach after all, aren't we ?

One thing I'd want people to be cautious on is believing any media reporting on his wages.

There's more than enough noise on the player contracts side that Boehly is making wages have performance related clauses.

I'd be surprised if that isn't the case with Potter. That 12m figure is probably with all the bells and whistles added. I'd also imagine there will be some clever exit clauses in his contract for not hitting certain targets.

They're not worried after all. Clearly they have made so much money from their own day jobs that they can take time out to analyse Potter's training sessions just to ensure that they are satisfied with them.

No alarm bells there, so that's good then.

Mid-season when the transfer window had barely been shut as well, not to mention the fact Tuchel took on the job much later than that only two seasons ago, a "top manager" and did a fantastic job.

What a load of f**king waffle.

When he was appointed, he had almost a full month off to prepare us going foward.

He had 6 weeks after the Newcastle game because of the world cup. He didn't have all of his players, but he had enough players to get something out of them.

What is the difference between what he is doing now and what he would do in pre season anyway? It's essentially the same thing. You train, you work on your fitness, you work on tactics. There isn't some kind of magic involved that changes just because you put the words pre season in front of it. If he can't improve us now and before the end of the season, there is zero reason to believe he will once next seasons pre season starts.

But you can't pick and choose the articles to believe. You might decide a so called "journalist" is talking bollox and stop believing anything else they report but if say Matt Law is reporting as he has here about the board backing Potter and to have previously reported on what his expected salary, you can't take one with a pinch of salt and wholeheartedly believe the other surely.

The fact that his salary package has been discussed on numerous occasions in pretty much all of the major press outlets, tends to make me feel that what is being reported is pretty close to accurate.

Yes i think its unfair because he's basically started the job three times in 5 months, September he officially began, then again after the WC he had most of the fit squad returning, then again after the winter window a new team of players come in.. It's a huge task.

Tough call there as we are only averaging 4 shots on target per game in the premier league

Personally I'm not sure I believe anything coming from anyone any more, other than what my own eyes are telling me from match days LOL

You'd maybe have a point if we haven't been sh*t since middle of October.

So he's had a generous amount of breaks to work in peace and quiet and get us firing? Any manager would love that kind of scenario and that's somehow an excuse as well? My word.

But we're not talking about winning the league, Champions league, top 4, Europa league, Europa Conference, Fa Cup, League Cup, the decline goes on, we are talking about winning one game convincingly and playing a reasonably attractive style of football that players understand. Nothing.

The embarrassing thing is that it is truly indefensible. Any other fan from any other club in the league would be mocking us over it. 38 players and still can't score a goal againt the team bottom of the league, that had no manager.

How can he work with these dozen players we just brought in before January ? Are you stupid or what ?

One game ?? Oh Lord, another bottler, jesus wept where did all the chelsea bottle job fans come from ?

Work with 80-85% of our current squad. This is ridiculous.

We brought in £400m worth of talent in January and thats somehow an excuse as well? Have you noticed every new player is getting worse the longer Potter gets to work with them btw? Everyone else have you know.

Tuchel could get players firing in one 1.5 hour evening session at Cobham. But poor Potter fra Solihull clearly needs five years before we can expect to beat any of Fulham, West Ham, Southampton in the league.

Xmas 2023? That can't be right, surely? Another 10 months of Potter and this club is done.
