March 11, 20233 yr He has a right to say what he said and in many ways he's correct. Point is the contract he signed for one of the cushyest jobs in history and that's the issue here. He can say what he likes, but not as the public face of the BBC. Whether or not that's right in a free and moral society...

March 11, 20233 yr If Lineker was anti/vax, or anti/immigration, or has religious anti gay beliefs ? Then people would understand why The BBC has impartiality restrictions.
March 11, 20233 yr Funny how the BBC is literally run by Tories donors but what Gary said is a problem proving his point exactly. What did the government do to opposition voices in 1930s Germany? These Tories think the public are so stupid that they can be complete hypocrites and no one will notice because all the right wing rags are behind him blowing up a tweet when people can’t eat or heat their homes. Funny the people who always bang about snowflakes and cancel culture are cancelling someone they don’t agree with. 13 f**king years in power and they have nothing to show for it so let’s start wedge issues and stoke culture wars. highest tax burned in decades, highest energy bills across europe, staff shortages across multiple sectors, NHS staff leaving in droves, underfunding the police, NHS , GPs, schools ….I could go on, nothing f**king works after 13 years in charge but but but but but but ……… Gary Lineker and Asylum seekers they are ones that’s really making your life worst!!! I don’t feel sorry for anyone who continues to support these crooks and can’t eat or heat their homes and struggle, when you see the facts but ignore it that’s a you problem!!
March 11, 20233 yr There shouldn’t have even been a platform for MOTD to be on since the Saville (and others) scandal! ….and people pay for that! Some putting the boot into the BBC now cause Big Ears gets a long holiday, until he Piers-Morgan’s his way back in after a few weeks; obviously have forgot quickly the recent history of old ‘auntie’! It really wouldn’t surprise me if the whole thing is a set up and he knows full well that he returns after a week or two. I never saw this ‘solidarity’ for old Le Tiss at Sky!
March 11, 20233 yr Lineker has brought this on himself, when you work for a corporate it is in the small print if you bring the company into disrepute you are at risk of losing your job. I'm reminded of Colin Wing alleged to have racially abused Sterling when he was a City player, not sufficient evidence to prosecute yet West is still banned from Stamford Bridge and loses his job at British Telecom. Lineker has also been warned before.

Depends on what sort of contract he signed I doubt it included you're not to say thing against the Tory government on Twitter. As I and others mentioned they haven't said anything about Sugar's tweets, Clarkson on Top Gear and his columns when he was at the BBC. This is the Tory's flagship policy it's all they've got and are trying to gag anyone who talks or tweets against it.

March 11, 20233 yr O and had Gary tweeted in support of the Tories none of this would have happened which tells you exactly what you need to know. When a government starts cracking down on opposition remember it won’t be long before they come for you too.

There a numerous examples of them playing for one side. Linekar’s views are totally his own and is not a political pundit. The moment the government start controlling the media we all have a problem.
March 11, 20233 yr Author “State broadcaster sacks TV sports presenter for criticising government” That’s how the BBC would report this if it was China or Russia.

If someone reports a post, a moderator will deem it appropriate or not to complete the report. You'll find it a lot more relaxed here than in many other places, but I'm failing to see your comparison? A household name on Twitter is a lot different than Dave on The Shed End from Crawley!

Exactly. But you will censor and ban that Dave from Crawley from this site. Even though up there you agreed that people should be allowed to say what they like . I don't disagree with moderation. And there are laws in place to prevent people saying " what they like". Anyway, social media has all the hate and vile comments to satisfy anyone. Thanks for your reply.
