Newcastle United vs Chelsea (PL) Sat 25th Nov 23 15:00 GMT

Maybe an international break to allow those many jangled nerves to settle down from the past 2 games is not a bad thing?

Well thread is ready for when the game gets closer.

Will have to be Gallagher and Caicedo in the midfield. Enzo arriving late.

Sterling, Palmer, Mudryk and Jackson

Last time Enzo arrived back before Caicedo despite an earlier kickoff.

Don't think Poch would pick Nkunku over Mudryk?

I think Nkunku will be brought back slowly. He's just missed three months, no point in rushing him. We don't want a re-injury.

Enzo needs a rest imo. He has the same travel as caicedo, but Moisess Ecuador are facing poor sides, Enzo is coming up against the Uruguay sh*housers and then THE SA derby vs Brazil.

It is not ideal, we will miss him badly, but we should take the hit for his own good and to get the best out of him long term this season.

With that in mind, and with Nkunku and Lavia most likely coming on from the bench, I would make just one change from City, provided their are no more injuries.

Sanchez

James

Disasi

Silva

Cucurella

Caicedo

Gallagher

Sterling

Palmer

Mudryk

Jackson

I would aim for the usual Mudryk 60 minute sub, Nkunkus debut.

If we are winning Lavia replacing Sterling and Gallagher going further forward.

If drawing or losing Lavia for Caicedo.

Broja for Jackson around 70 minutes.

That'll likely be the team I reckon. Perhaps Colwill for Cucurella.

Tough games for Caicedo and Enzo in South America. Really not sure picking them against Newcastle will be the best option.

Yeah Enzo is spent, Caicedo we will have to see but if it were an option to rest him that would be great.

Can we go with Conor plus Lesley or Lavia and expect our midfield not to be destroyed though?

Hopefully last night for England isn't a setback for Conor. He was poor, caught in possession, giving the ball away. Not that he was the only one. In his defence, he was frequently sold short by shoddy passing from the back, Maguire and Tomori in particular. And partnered in midfield by the useless Henderson, and Alexander Arnold who might have an immaculate pass in his tool kit but, even in midfield, remains clueless defensively.

I hate international football during a season.. Countdown to the premiership coming back... bloody helll.

It's bloody stupid - why don't they do it at the start or at the end of the season or both ?

Why not? Bruno Gumiares will go through the same thing and still start for Newcastle

Because we have alternatives. Argentina now have to play Brazil having lost to Uruguay in a “physical” game. Enzo played the entire game. Vaicedos 0-0 with Venezuela was an important qualifying game. then there is all the jet lag.

we could easily play big Les and Palmer in midfield put Sterling at right wing and mudryck on left. A\though have to see what happens in Ukraine v Italy

8 days of rest between the Newcastle and Brighton game the following week. See no reason we should be resting anyone for this one. Newcastle away at PSG 3 days after our game, they should be the ones concerned with resting players.

Sanchez

Reece  Silva  Badiashile  Cucurella

Enzo  Caicedo

Palmer  Gallagher  Sterling

Jackson

Not against Disasi starting but Badiashile is the better player so want to see him in the line up when fit. If Enzo is clearly struggling, plenty of options on the bench.

I'm all for resting one of Enzo/Caicedo but I think resting both at once is a bit risky.

Maybe 45 mins each would reduce risk of overworking them without completely throwing our midfield out of whack?

Am I correct in saying Hall won't be able to play against us as he's technically on loan this season (with the fee already agreed for next summer)?

He's on loan so can't play against Chelsea.

They are riddled with injuries. Guimares serving a suspension.

They will probably low block. Dortmund won them pretty comfortably 2-0. I hope we are up for it and win as we really should.

Didn't Bruno serve his 1 match ban for 5 yellows in their loss at Bournemouth?

Also Newcastle believe Isak, Almiron and Schar will be back for our game.

So they are not really that weakened.

Reading Newcastle will likely lineup like this at the moment. Big risk for them to push the likes of Almrion and Isak after recent injuries.

Other than that, not as ridiculous as the media is playing it out to be.

Pope

Livramento Lascelles Schär Trippier

Guimarães

Longstaff Joelinton

Almrion           Gordon

Isak

Other than Tonali, who are they even missing that would usually start?
