August 5, 20241 yr According to Romano we have signed him for €20m. He is a 16yr old likened to Neymar, and would move in 2026 when he turns 18. I do wonder how they come up with this valuation, especially for a player yet to break into Gremio’s first team.

Half of the amount that we are receiving for last seasons captain, England International etc. Good grief.
August 5, 20241 yr Did they scout him from Brazil got Talent? He hasn't even played for the first team yet, he may not even cut it to Gremio. How many Messis or Neymar are out there in Brazil? Can we sign the next Drogba or Lampard the following week?

Interestingly though these little weedy kids that we are now hoovering up would never make it through the ranks in this country. Successful academy graduates, particularly at Chelsea over the years, are physically developed, powerful, strong lads, mature physically for their age. It is highly unlikely that this lad who apparently is about 5 foot 6 or 7 and is about 9 stone would have ever made it through our academy system, but because he has come through a weaker Brazilian system we're now looking to pay €20m for him.
August 6, 20241 yr I ain't fkn googling any more ppl this summer. Ffs transfer window has ages to go yet and I've done enough searching and watching unknown footballers to last a fkn lifetime. Who the fk is this kid now!

At least you're still bothering to post this! I had started to write something similar, the I thought why bother.

To be fair the problem with players that are mature physically for their age is that the other kids will eventually catch up and their physical advantages won't give them the same supremacy. Plus when you enter the mens game you're less likely to rely on the physical attributes unless your a natural beast like Ruben or Rooney.
August 6, 20241 yr Crikey, I was getting worried as Todd hadn't signed a South American child for a few days now. I wonder if he'll get any minutes for Strasbourg in a few years time, if he still likes playing football when he grows up. Anyway, on you go Todd, there's lots more children in Brazil!

Very true and has been the blight of many a promising youngster that doesn't make it through. It still happens though. Look at our U14s now. This lad would struggle against them.
