barak81
And its been given to him on a permenant basis. No need to debate the who's and whens its time to accept that this is the man in charge and while he comes with an interesting record in the israelie league the I predict that we are going to free fall under him!! Lofty
The question remains, how permanent is permanent? There has been no indication of the length of the contract; it could be a stop-gap measure or it could be for the rest of the season. I could be very wrong (it won't be the first time) but I seriously don't see this as a long-term appointment.
loz
I don't see it as long term and I also don't see it as the beginning of the end which some seem to think. Bottom line is if we start to slump under Grant he will be removed from post quick fast. This season may turn into something of a poor one (relatively speaking) however our long term future is still a bright one and that the most important thing. Sofa Manager
Agree with ol'lozer here. I can't see in on a permanent basis, rather to fill the void temporarly. IF by any chance he gets things happening (meaning wins AND sexy football), then I don't see any reason for him not to continue.
Backbiter
former Chelsea player Pat Nevin believes it will only be a short-term option. "It's an absolute certainty to be a short-term measure because they can't get the man they want," he told BBC 5Live. "And the man I'm sure they want is (Russia manager) Guus Hiddink. He's not going to be available until Russia are out of the competition at the Euros in 2008. "Avram Grant is going to be as welcome as Camilla at Diana's memorial. "This guy is not well-loved at Chelsea. He is not going to last." Interesting viewpoint!

Mate he's mates with roman, he has a CV that is farily respectable, its basicaly a case fo there you go buddy, lets see what you can do. Obvusly if he f*cks up he'll hopefully be given the push sooner rather than later but as it stands i think the job is his to loose more than his to try and keep

But if Abramovich is going to treat the club and the fans as if its just his personal play thing then we will quickly become a laughing stock. Grant will not be a success in my terms - i.e. winning the league/CL but of course he might be able to make us into pretty losers as Roman seems to want. I really can't believe that so many seem to think that Jose leaving is for the best. Even if we replace him with someone at the same level - and they are few and far between - it won't mean the sort of football that RA apparently wants - cos that wins f**k all. The Moos
Friend with Roman and friend with Arnesen. No point guessing why he got the job All I can say that I wish him the best of luck and I hope that he turns out to be a great manager who makes Chelsea better. If not, then I hope he's out as soon as possible.

Bridgeboy
I think Roman is trying to build a top class club, with top class staff in all positions, top class youth system, top class facilities and possibly a new top class stadium. I think Roman and the board know what they are doing and obviously have some sort of plan. I think this year is going to be a retreat year of some note and we will get a new manager in the summer, a few more players in and out and come back as strong as ever. Guest
I think Roman and the board know what they are doing Can you give me directions to your planet? Go your Uranus, turn left But seriously though, I think we are being too negative towards Abramovich and the Chelsea board here. We don't know what was going on behind the scenes and its quite plausible that it was the right decision to make.
