Posted January 7, 200817 yr JUANDE RAMOS wants to make Chelsea defender Tal Ben Haim his first signing as Tottenham boss. And the Spaniard is willing to pay up to £8million to land the centre-half during the transfer window. Ramos is desperate for reinforcements in defence and Israeli ace Ben Haim is ready to call it quits at the Blues after an unhappy first six months at the club. Clear signal Chelsea’s £8.9m swoop for Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic last week has confirmed to Ben Haim, 25, that his Stamford Bridge future is bleak. With skipper John Terry sidelined with a broken foot, Ben Haim was hoping to get more first-team action. But Blues boss Avram Grant’s move for Ivanovic within hours of the window opening is a clear signal. Tottenham chief Ramos has made sorting his leaky defence his No 1 priority having seen eight goals conceded in three games. Younes Kaboul has failed to impress since his summer move from Auxerre and defensive partner Michael Dawson has yet to prove his credentials to Ramos. Spurs’ club captain Ledley King played in Saturday’s 2-2 FA Cup draw against Reading. But the England defender is still easing his way back to full fitness after a series of injuries. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sp ... 656291.ece he is NOT Worth 8 million haha stu*id Spurs
January 7, 200817 yr Please stop posting stories from the Sun or Tribal. Oh, and be sure to let Loz and Mod know, while you're at it. Sure they'll appreciate the heads up.

January 7, 200817 yr YES! And some more. Ben Haim is worth at least 15mill.... ...oh, sorry I got confused. WE weren't buying here but selling. If we'd sell him it would be closer to 3,5mill.
January 7, 200817 yr If Levi offered anything close to 8 million i'd bite his hand off. Unfortunately it's bound to be another silly rumor.
January 7, 200817 yr I'd be quite happy to give Spurs Haim + £15 - £18M as long as we got Berbatov in exchange.
January 7, 200817 yr I think his worth about 5 million pounds Ben Haim. I mean people here dis him, but he was very solid for Bolton and was one of the better defenders in the premiership when he was with them. If an 8 million pound bid came along, i'd be tempted to take it even though it would leave us short at the back. Beyond that, if we are going to sell him it should be at the end of the season when we have a replacement lined up and theres a bigger more active market to sell him into.

I've always seen Ben Haim as a really good defender when he was at Bolton. That's why I really wanted him to join us. So when I heard that he jined us for free I was really pleased. One of the better defenders in the league for free. But he hasn't been as good here.

His lack of pace more than anything is what has worried people, but his been far more solid than Boularouz was for us and when the rest of the team defends properly (that is not leaving too much space around Ben Haim to be exploited), his been reasonably solid.

I don't know. I think he's looked nervous. He has atleast made me nervous Still, he has been better than Boulah. I'll give him that
January 7, 200817 yr Personally I have no idea why there is such a lynch mob out to get Ben-Haim. he is a 4th choice centre half which under normal circumstances means he will rarely get a game. So far this season we have not been operating under normal circumstances becuase of the ridiculous run of injuries we have had. OK Ben-Haim hasn't quite been Franco Baresi (before he lost all his pace and just fouled everything that moved) but at the same time he has not actually been terrible and hasn't really had any major howlers (ad I remind you he is 4th choice - any 4th choice centre half who comes in and does a decent but not great job is pretty much the most you can expect) Christ Belletti has had at least two appalling games yet people are bigging him up as a great cheap signing so why Ben haim is getting so much stick is beyond me.

Maybe you're right, Loz (for once). Maybe I had such a high oppinion about him that his less than great performances has made me disappointed? Next time he's in the lineup I'll keep an extra eye out for him. Maybe he's not that bad after all
January 7, 200817 yr £8m for the lumbering arthritic legged Israeli? Hand...Snatch...off (rearrange).
January 8, 200817 yr Personally I have no idea why there is such a lynch mob out to get Ben-Haim. It's because us Chelsea fans always have to have someone in the squad to vent our frustration with. He's the new Jokanavic/Geremi/Del Horno/JFH/Drogba (in the first 18 months). There has to be someone in the squad who gets crucified every time they put in a less than world class performance.
January 8, 200817 yr the only way that we would demand that kind of money for a 4th string defender would be if we felt the Berbatov asking price was way over the odds. Anyway, as it has already been said, this is the Sun reporting!
January 8, 200817 yr £8m for the lumbering arthritic legged Israeli? Has Grant been picking himself?!?
January 8, 200817 yr As loz said he is only meant as cover but if Spurs or anyone else offered £8m for him its bye,bye beach towel.
