Guest Sindre
I think its Dos Santos or Ronaldinho. Both have been linked to us earlier, and Barcelona wont sell Iniesta for any price.

ethicalstrategy
I hope to god it's not Ronnie The only players I would be interested in would be Iniesta, Messi, Eto'o. Dos Santos and Bojan could be worth a punt.

However i may be made to eat my words.
snitrbt25
Only two possible ones imo. Dos Santos or Ronaldinho. The latter seems more likely to me.
MannyJello
I guess we can lump these in a few categories: ALMOST CERTAINLY NOT (because we don't need position, or we would never get player): - Goalkeepers Valdes, Jorquera or Olazabal - Defenders Sylvinho, Thuram, Abidal, Oleguer, Valiente, Milito, Marquez or Puyol - Midfielders Edmilson or Toure (we don't need another defensive center midfielder, do we??) - Midfielder Xavi (I think he has a 100 million buyout clause or something insane like that; can't imagine him ever leaving Barca, like Maldini with Milan) - Strikers Henry, Messi or Krkic (they'd never sell) - Striker Santiago Ezquerro (he's more a Bolton/Everton signing) PROBABLY NOT, BUT YOU NEVER KNOW - Defender Zambrotta (I thought I heard a recent rumor that he'd be leaving at the end of the season to Milan; doubtful we'd get him, but if we want a new attacking right back, why not him??) - Midfielder Deco (he was almost signed with us from Porto back in the initial Mourinho revolution; that time has probably past, but if we are looking for a creative central midfielder, perhaps?) PROBABLES (not saying we'll end up getting them, but the most likely transfer targets - Midfielder Iniesta (rumors have been flying) - Striker dos Santos (capitalizing on the "super agent" relationship) - Striker Ronaldinho (odds are, this is it) - Striker Eto'o (he's a mess, but he scores goals, don't he?) - Striker Gudjohnsen (come home, Guddy!) coco
Surely not Messi or Dos Santos, they wont lose them. Oleguer Presas ?
Iceman
I think it'll be either Eto'o, Santos or Iniesta. The latter I can dream about but can't see that happening in a million years :-(( The other two maybe... Eto'o - Well maybe that was what Drogba was referring to when he said get your chequebook out in his latest interview today at ANC about how he wants to play alongside Eto'o. Everyone assuming Drogba is trying to engineer a move to Barca with those comments. But it could be cryptic and his comments were with regards to Eto'o coming to SB, instead of he himself going to Barca. ??!! Dos Santos - On CTV paper talk programme tonight, Ian McGaffry from the Sun said that Dos Santos will come to Chelsea from Barca (he has been jabbering on about that for months). Anyway the latest according to him tonight is that Giovanni dos Santos met with Grant, Ramos & Fergie in the UK on a 3 day stint at the end of December. Ramos has since bid for him (I think about £7m) and is trying to persuade him to join Tottenham instead of us, saying he will play more regularly for them instead of us. Fergie has not put in a bid at all yet but we have also put in a bid allegedly (not sure what amount). To sum up, the journalist has said that Rijkaard told Dos Santos that he would be better off joining us. Eidur does not think he is ready yet.... Ronaldinho - well if any of those comments today from the AC Milan chief are true, then Ronnie is earmarked for Chelsea for the Summer, not now allegedly. abramovich
It could only be three players - Dos Santos,Iniesta or Guddy. First two were apparently looking to get new contracts and were linked to us recently and Guddy...well, he's always welcome back and he knows it. I'd replace Pizarro with our Blonde Icelander any time of the day. Ronnie was heavily rumoured to be our prime target but players of that stature are rarely,if ever sold in the middle of the season plus he's Cup tied in Europe. Tim
But why on earth would Barca sell Dos Santos - I thought he was their new wonderkid? Potentially very exciting news though, cheers Star!
Scott
http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=548464 Bronzetti: Ronaldinho Will Go To Chelsea Super Agent Ernesto Bronzetti has stated, according to DiarioSport, that Ronaldinho will sign for Chelsea at the end of the season. Relations between Ronaldinho and sections of the club have broken down considerably and he was verbally abused by supporters at ‘El Prat’ Airport following his poor performance in the 1-0 El Clasico defeat at home to Real Madrid before Christmas. This has led to increased speculation that Ronaldinho will be sold by the Catalan-giants, and Bronzetti has claimed that he will be moving to Chelsea, and not original front-runners AC Milan, in the summer. "Barcelona were ready to talk about Gianluca Zambrotta and Ronaldinho, but Milan believe in the end the player will be moving to Chelsea,” Bronzetti said. Meanwhile Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has seemingly ruled out that his club will try to sign the 27-year-old.
MannyJello
Oleguer Presas ? i doubt it. he's a strong Catalan supporter, outspoken for Catalan rights and all, and i don't see him moving from Barca. plus, he's had a great season so far and is a fixture in the starting XI. probably not our guy. The Moos
Well there's been talks about Iniesta and Ronnie so it's probably one of those two. Maybe Dos Santos but I doubt Barca will want to let him go. One player I wouldn't mind getting is Zambrotta. Though since we signed Ivanovic I don't see us buying him. I've always liked Zambrotta. He can play to the left or the right (or even in the middle if needed) and even though he's great going forward (can even cross the ball really well) he's still very solid in defence. But we've got Belletti, Ferreira, Cole and Bridge so we don't really need him. If we sign a RB it'll probably be a younger player and not someone "old" like Zambrotta. Feels wierd calling 30 year olds "old".
Guest
It's probably either Ronaldinho or Gudjohnsen with Ronaldinho being the strongest possibility. I think if we are going to buy him, now is actually a good time to do so. We can get him acclimitised in England and give him limited game time up till the end of the season and get him fit and raring to go for the start of next season. barak81
Well i know nothing about Dos Santos exepct from what ive seen on you tube and based on that id actually take aguero ahead of him but would be nice to see us thinking about the futchure. sick of hearing about fabregas and what a find he is ect On the other hand im not one of those against the idea of the goofy one for the right price, zola was 29 when we got him, zidan was late 20's when madrid broke the transfer record (i think) the right player that the right time can be huge, and ronni is far from past it. Guest Brian M
Bronzetti: Ronaldinho Will Go To Chelsea Super Agent Ernesto Bronzetti has stated, according to DiarioSport, that Ronaldinho will sign for Chelsea at the end of the season. zoom - galleria The Barcelona superstar has not been at his best this campaign and has found a regular starting place hard to come by in the last couple of months. "We must keep an eye on the balance in the dressing room, and we also have other champions," Berlusconi stated in the aftermath of Milan’s 5-2 win over Napoli on Sunday night when Brazilian trio Kaka, Ronaldo and Pato lit up the Stadio Meazza. "After all, Ronaldinho is not even going through a great moment of form. "In other words, his purchase is not a priority for Milan." --------------- PS: no way Ronnie's moving mid-season, so it'll be someone else. PPS: let it be Messi! canbeas
dos Santos is not nearly ready for Barcelona...so if he came to Chelsea, it would be one, probably two or three years before he would be ready, considering what i said and the fact that the EPL is tougher, faster and that he would need to adjust to the country. he's very talented, and has shown glimpses of brilliance. But he's too selfish, not strong enough physically, makes horrible passes from time to time, and is not a natural finisher (only managed one barca goal i think). it's not him anyway. iniesta, never gonna happen. he loves barca and barca love him. ronaldinho, could happen. TomP
I've got a feeling it might be Deco - for no other reason than I have always thought he would end up a Chelsea player for some reason.
BackInBlue
I would love for it to be Iniesta or Santos. I think if we are to continue playing the 4-3-3, we cannot find a better player to either play in the midfield 3 or the left wing than Iniesta. But in saying that I wouldn't mind a seeing a certain Brazilian at the Bridge.
abramovich
Now Star, why why why would you start this thread if you don't know what player we've put a bid for. Is that your elaborate plan to torture the CSR regulars for the next three days or something like that? I wish you'd wait till you know the name instead of dropping this bomb and leaving us guessing till Friday.
ozboy
I have to hope its some one younger. Right now we have a bunch of older starts but we need more youth for the longer term, not a fancy price for a player already past his peak. In addition I hope to heck we get some one relatively injury free.
