Big Issue! Big Issue!
English/British football in general, but you cannot excuse Chelsea from this, we were very close to 'doing a Leeds' a few years back, despite the survival job Bates managed to do for years. Leeds, Portsmouth, Palace the list is endless. Google/wikipedia search 'football clubs in administration' and you'll see how many there are: here's a few - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...nistration.html It's crying shame these football clubs, supported by local people, who attend with families and friends are being taken over by fly-by-nights looking for a quick buck, and have their loyalty turned into a spiv's profit margin, while running the club into debt, rivals or not.

Big Issue! Big Issue!
Regardless of which club it is - his should not be allowed to happen to football clubs. Debt-free clubs being allowed to run into the red once taken over, based on assets which to be fair, are at best, a stadium (or the gound it sits on) and players, and yeah the 'Global brand' In a few years football could be in dire straights, with clubs going to the wall, mergers to save lesser clubs etc. It's happended in the US already with their American football, which quite frankly doesn't have the history or tradition which English football is based on. I pray we don't go the same way, but fear the writing is already oin the wall.

The FA cup is the best competition on the planet for football fans of the English domestic leagues! IMHO. Leeds beat Man Utd this season, their old rivals, yet seperated by 2 divisions. Non-professional players can pit their wits against the world's best depending on the draw, and get beaten or beat'em! The final can be made up of non-top-tier sides, each getting the chance to play in a money spinning European spot, like 2nd tier Millall a few years ago, or even the likes of Pompey entertaining AC Milan! Town's and urban area's can come together, (BBC reporters in nameless places where the local butchers and hign-street are decked out in their teams colours - who only draw a couple of thousand each week) people can unite, come together, and giants are killed. The CL has lost this romance, through finance of the lucky clubs who qualify each year, unfortunately, and luck plays a massive part (See the earlier posts in this thread) in the eventual winners. (see Barcalona at home thread / or referee threads / or Drogba's reaction thread's / or J.T's penalty miss) One of the turning points in our history was coming from 2 goals behind at home to Liverpool, something Chelsea just didn't do back then, and going on to beat them 4-2, and going on to win the competition! (Win a competition!?!???) - it was in the FA cup under Ruud Gullit!! Winning THAT comptition, when we did, under THAT manager elevated Chelsea to an international audiance. And if we meet Liverpool again in this yeaR CL, (oh no they aren't in it! ) or Barcalona, or Jose's Real Madrid. Yes there will be some great football, some dubious moments no doubt, but it won't give me the same sense of acheivement as beating Liverpool away did this season, in the league, with so much at stake, no matter what any scouser tells you! Championes. Championes - all the way all the way all the way!!

blackpool where brass bands play pom pom pom
Stop being a football snob  Good luck to'em - 6 points I hope. The Ian Holloway interview after the game, in the dressing-room was one of the best, most sincere interviews you'll see a manager give these days.

Inter or Bayern
Not so sure, I think this has been Utd's weakest squad for a few seasons. Tevez and Ronaldo both leaving and not being replaced. Giggs, Scholes and Neville all a few years older and it shows and Ferdinand has only played 14 games. That said, Mikel is no Makalele, Kalou is no Robben or Crespo. In general I think Utd have a weaker squad but so do we in certain areas, especially the wings. I agree with the rest of the pack catching up and being a hard prospect, hence the 2 losses to City this year.

Inter or Bayern
I think he makes some sensible points. I don't think Utd are as strong as they were a couple of years ago, Arsenal have become a selling club and Liverpool have gone down the sh*tter. Chelsea are not as strong as they were a couple of season ago when Jose was here, but you can only beat what's infront of you and we did. I don't think he's diminishing anything Carlo did, just saying he faced tougher opposition than Carlo had to, from the main rivals. Carlo beat all our main rivals and lifted the title - I don't honestly see the problem.

Grant resigns
Avram Grant is a crisis manager, not a football manager. West Ham will go down, but he will 'nearly' keep them up. Carlsberg don't do runner's up, but if they did, they'd be the best runner up in the world.

silly question
Someone nicked the Stamford the lion out-fit one year!

have we got some history - depends when the clock starts
I think we won a European trophy before they did aswell. http://theshed.chelseafc.com/theshed/shoto...theday_homepage

Inter or Bayern
Inter for me. Seeing an ex-chelsea legend do well for one, and to say we were beaten by the eventual winners although, no consolation.

Millwall have played at the new Wembley more times than Liverpool!
