We should most certainly get a striker in the summer. A young one at that. 22-26 years old, someone with a bit of experience. Ajax arn't in the Champions League this season...Huntelaar anyone?

I certainly hope your right, GHH. We need our form of 2 seasons ago back and with Deco, it doesn't look too far in the NEAR future. Get Drogba back, play Kalou regularly, and we're in! COME ON THE BLUES! :P

I honestly believe it wasn't us that went wrong it's just Madrid's impetulance at not wanting to sell him to us. Does anyone not find it odd that we chase Robinho for months and they keep saying no, and then Citeh come in with 2 hours left in the window and they acceot it in the blink of an eye? Blatantly, Madrid see us as big europeam rivals these days, even though we've never met them in the CL. Now they have Citeh to worry about aswell as us and if Citeh are in the CL next season, what will Madrid do if they get paired?

In fairness, Chels and the Mancs have got the best squads in the league. Man City I think will turn out to be a club full of great individuals like Robinho, Elano, Petrov, Jo etc. but not really as a team. I just thought of a theory that could work if Chels do it well. Everyone's going on about how Man U are going to score more goals than us. It's probably true. But what if we concentrate a bit more on not letting any goals in, rather than scoring them? Remember when we won the league the first time in 50 years? We conceded, what, 12 goals was it? in 38 games? That's not bad really. We must still improve our strikeforce, definitely, but tighten up the screws of the already awesome defence and we could be looking at something verrrry promising...

When comparing that to ours Drogba Anelka Di Santo Kalou it's actually pretty shameful. But compare midfield, defence and keeper and we're sorted

He scored 78 in 200 something appearances (all competitions) I think. I'm sure he created more than he scored. We shouldn't've sold him. He was one of our best strikers, and while he was here with Drogba, they linked up brilliantly, the most distinct rememberance in the 1-0 victory against Manc, Jose's first game! If only Jose kept him up front with Drogs rather than putting him in midfield (a role he played very well!) he would've surely broken the 100 mark! Bring Eidur back!

Brilliant point. I've had stick for Abramovich so many times from my mates, but now we're not the only team with money, and when we do what everyone else did to us, nobody likes it! Why is it ok for Chelsea to do wrong and no one else? To everyone else, the sun shines through Rafa's and Wenger's behinds, and don't get me started on Fergie.

Agreed. We should have Drogba for the power, Anelka for the pace and I hope it works wonders as we haven't tried to up front for a looong time. Drogba won't be fully fit so to play him on his own first game back would be a very bad thing, give him a lot of support and just let him do the finishing ;). Certainly, Deco will supply Drogba with genius through-balls that will tear any defence apart, and hopefully Joey will improve drastically and be a near 3rd striker/winger/CAM to supply width and can link up with Drogba and Anelka.

We were supposed to be signing Dos Santos in the summer (hot tip from Star!), but missed out because of the managerial situation. He looked crap against us, I thought.

A few things: 1) BLUENUT, it's Di Santo, not Dos Santos! 2) We should most definitely bring Sinclair up, I watched him against Arsenal reserves last night (monday) and he looked very impressive. He scored a goal, would#ve had 2 but for an outstanding save by the keeper and he proved he can beat a man, but not only one, 3! 3) If we're cruising like we were against Pompey, bring him on at half time, so he has a good 45 mins to prove his worth! 4) Don't bring Kakuta up just yet, give him a few years of consitent playing for the reserves cause he's still only a youth player at the moment, but definitely we should keep him for the future. 5) Why not experiment with 2 strikers and one playing just behind them, probably Joey or Kalou? Or someone we sign in the transfer market in January?

Agreed, Byatt. Kalou's still learning, where as Malouda is late twenties? Give Kalou a year or two and with consistent playing time, he will be a recognised centre forward, at least, I hope so...

I hope Felipe gives Kalou a run out rather than Joey, other than Pompey, Joey has been completely useless. Let Kalou prove his worth, and I have reason to believe Drogba will start on the bench, with Anelka up front, or possibly, the two of them up front? Lets just hope that if Robinho's press conference is anything to go by, he won't want to go to City, and as long as we keep offering he'll want to come to us, not them!

Owen was a good striker while he was at Liverpool, but he's getting on a bit now and he's nowhere near as good as he was, he'd be a pointless buy IMO.

On SSN, apparently Madrid have said that the only we'll get Robinho is if Robinho himself buys out his own contract which will cost something in the region of 150million euros! Which evens out at around £90million I think. D'you think Robinho is THAT desperate to come to us? We'll have to wait and see...
