  1. I seem to remember there being a few members on here who play Football Manager, so are there any with the new one? I'm a member of a forum about football manager, no I won't bother plugging it, I feel it's tacky, but I mention it more to show how much I play it. I've been a member for about 5 years now, so I kind of am a bit addicted... well, I'm actually a member on about 4/5 Football manager sites, but I usually only go on one of the main one of those, anyway I digress (as I seem to quite often). For those who aren't quite sure about getting it or not, but are fans of the series, in my humble opinion it's the best of the Football Manager era. It's hard to compare to say CM 01/02, because it's gone completely the other way. It aims for realism, but they've kept it very much playable. The new tactics creator is absolutely superb. I think it's the best new feature I've seen in a Football Manager game, it really is just that good. I'm one of those sad bar stewards who spends hours tweaking their tactics, but now there is actually no need to, it just works so well. The 3d match engine now looks brilliant. They've added crowds, and they react as well, but more importantly the game looks realistic. The passing, the movement, it looks like just like how you'd expect a real game to look, I'm not sure what they added, but it works. So does anyone have it? Who are you playing as? Yes, I'm hoping for updates... unless no one's bothered, then it'd be foolish to expect updates, but still, here's hoping. :P
  2. If that's the case, we'll quite likely sign someone from Valencia. According to Champions league rule 17.18, we can get one player in who has played in the Europa League. So that would give us the options from Valencia of Villa (getting on a bit), Silva (oh god yes, please), or Mata (he'll do, but I'd rather have Silva). We could also get Suarez, Di Maria (he's in great form right now), Moutinho, Veloso, Vucinic, De Rossi, Mexes, Cicinho, Michel Platini (The Brazilian one for CSKA Sofia, but still, it could be funny just to have him :P ), Arda Turan (yes, I play football manager too much  ), Linderoth, Florin Bratu, Marius Niculae, Goran Pandev, Guisseppe Rossi, Cani, Santi Cazorla, Bogdan Stancu, Fernandinho, Willian, Ilsinho, Ibrahim Afellay, Mesut Ozil (was great in one of those youth world cup things I saw last year), Claudio Pizarro (he's one of the best in the world you know :P ), Iker Muniain (he's only 16 and has scored a couple for Bilbao already)... that'll do. I just went through the UEFA cup groups for players who I recognised, but we could only sign one of those without them being cup-tied. Just thought you might find it interesting reading.
  3. The best for me, I reckon is Wayne Bridge's goal in the dying minutes against Arsenal to knock them out of the Champions League. Just something about that moment, I went completely mental, I can't remember much of it, but it's the feeling I won't forget, but it's not something I'm talented enough to describe. It even tops winning the league, because well, the league is so drawn out, there isn't a moment in particular to feel, yeah, that was the best moment... unless you were there at the actual trophy lifting, obviously. The worst again is the Champions league, but I'd say it's Iniesta's goal last year. I know, losing to Liverpool was bad, but the injustice felt after the Barcelona game sort of makes it stand out just that bit more. It built up all game, with the penalties, the missed chances, the feeling of injustice was just getting worse, and worse through the game, even though we had a lead. We were by far the better side, in the second leg, and even when you take both legs together, we were the better side. Feeling frustrated, and then that moment, the misplaced pass by the tired Essien, then the ball hitting the net, knowing that it put us out. There was a minute or two left, but the feeling of pure dejection had already hit. It's a competition we've had our bad moments in (and from my earlier choice, one or two good ones, too), but that one moment, that feeling tops them all for me. The fact that we'd never been that f**king close before, it just hurt more than any other, probably more so because of the moments previous to it. Although if we beat Man Utd by double figures next week, that might just beat Bridge's last gasp winner. Let's hope that in the next decade we get even more great moments, and hopefully a few less god-awful ones... although saying that, the bad ones, just make the good ones, feel just that little bit better.
  4. Cronaldo for 3rd maybe? Although, I too would love Lampard to get 3rd, but I think his early season poor form will make him miss out.
  5. I'm going to go 2-1. I said it last time and we won 4-0... Lightning will hopefully strike twice.
  6. Just got Iraqgoals working... I suppose it's a bit late though. :D
  7. I didn't, but I'm really just waiting for the highlights on BBC. Every so often I manage to get a 1 second bit of crowd noise from the game come up on Veetle, then it stops and I get told that the stream is offline. I refresh and the same thing happens again after a good 5 minute wait.
  8. I was going to go for a timid 16-9, but it wasn't an option... went for 2-1, though. We'll make a lot of changes and Bolton will be fired up for it, so I see it being tight.
  9. That's because Joe is the man of the match already. :D
  10. I'm not too bothered either way. I think we have the cover to cope with ACN, so really, I'm thinking more to the future. I like Mikel, but honestly, I don't think he'll ever be truly world class, and that's what I'd like, but I dunno.
  11. Toulalan looked good for Lyon, he's not too old. Cattermole from Sunderland, he's only 21. Jack Rodwell from Everton... OK, he probably wouldn't leave... I'm sure there are a few, but convincing De Rossi would be the best option... or maybe giving Matic a chance.
  12. I wasn't actually being serious with that post, but anyway. Cambiasso is 29, so not exactly what we need. Roma are actually having a fair few financial problems right now, so they might well have to sell him. He's been linked with us over the summer and more recently as well, and apparently Ancelotti is a big fan. Supposedly he doesn't want to leave, but I seem to remember hearing that he might be willing to if the club need to cash in. Tymoschuk recently moved to Bayern, and again, he's 30.
  13. David Silva to play the tip of the diamond, Aguero to play up top with Drogba... while we're at it, De Rossi to replace Mikel at the base of the diamond.... A team lining up with this, would be hard to stop (on Football Manager :P ). Cech Bosingwa Alex Terry Cole De Rossi Essien Lampard Silva Aguero Drogba
  14. I heard that they're going to be searched for beach balls on entering the ground... because they'll cause offence.

All PS3 games are the same and work equally well. I believe the slim PS3 is not backwards compatible though, so PS2 games won't work. PS3 is better than the 360 and Wii in my view, yeah. I have a Wii, and it's great fun for a few hours, but gets boring very quickly. The games don't have the longevity of a 360 or a PS3. Also, I reckon it's better than a 360 because of the blu-ray player, but I'm guessing you may well already have one and won't be using it for that, but even so, it means that games can have more information and be longer, and have better graphics. FIFA 10 is the best Football game out there, right now. I was going to suggest other games to get, if you were feeling rich, but, I realised something and that's the age group the consoles are aimed at. The Wii is probably better for a kid your son's age. The best games (other than FIFA 10), are things like GTAIV, Tekken, and the like, which probably wouldn't be right for him... although you may well enjoy wasting some time on them. :o Wii games are generally, family based games which would probably be better.
  16. Scousers also don't like it when you call their team Torrard.
  17. Without a google search who does he play for now? :P :D
  18. Personally I think that Hilario deserved to start against Villa. He played fantastically well against Liverpoo, and personally I felt he deserved to keep his place in the side on the back of that performance alone. Not because Cech's been bad, and I don't personally feel he has been that bad, just because Hilario did so well, and good performances should be rewarded. He may not have Cech's class, but he certainly isn't too bad, and sometimes, being in form can make you just that little bit better. Saying that, though, I don't think we can drop Cech now. That'd ruin his confidence, if he would have lost his place due to Hilario playing well, that's a kick up the arse, if he were to lose it due to playing badly, that's more of a kick in the teeth. Following through the analogy, here. We want to kick him forwards, not backwards. So, no, don't drop him. Maybe give Hilario the Carling Cup game, and if he plays well he might keep Cech out of the side, but other than that, I think dropping Cech would be a mistake.
  19. Steven Kaka, or Steven Xavi?
  20. Imagine how bad their back ups are though!
  21. It could however also be one of those weekends where the unexpected is for them to pick up 3 points and they still manage it. I'm now a cynic, and pessimistic.
