  1. no doubt our performance will be overshadowed by utd, who you have to say produced a stunning result, but no-one has won at valencia in the champs league and we wiped the floor with them apart from a five minute spell...we dominated the game and had 60% possession...that was pure class...knocking valencia out was much harder than beating roma...now let's get revenge on the scousers
  2. a brilliant substitution, putting essien at right back and bringing joe in attacking 4-3-3 formation...it completely changed the game, we started playing proper footy and played them off the park...jose is the special one and proved why there is no one better at changing the game from the dug-out...he can't go anywhere...he's ours and no-one can have him...so there!
  3. A draw helping us is assuming that we win every single game we have left. So they would drop 3 points against us, and 2 somewhere else. This way, we would be two points ahead. Cheers lads, I knew we had to win out...oh well, back to teh beer and the Masters Scott shame that justin rose bottled it at the 17th after getting within one shot of the lead...he carded three double bogeys in an otherwise brilliant round and missed a golden chance of winning the green jacket
  4. I was right behind the goal so saw his shot all the way..no doubt robbo is a dodgy keeper and we helped remind him and the spurs fans of that throughout the second half! I'll never be massive fan of riccy but he did the business today no doubt
  5. I was at the game today and was saddened to see Maka a shadow of his former self...he gave the ball away, got caught in possession and was nowhere to be seen at times...in fact I thoughht Mikel was having to cover for him a lot of the time...he did one great thing late on where he chased a 40 yard ball to win us a throw-in, but he's not doing the business...in fact at half time i was hoping jose took him off and moved mikel into the holding role with either ballack or joe coming on. i would be very surprised if he plays on tuesday...I must admit I never thought I would be saying this...I blame france and their ridiculous insistence he play international footy after he'd retired...first half of season he was as good as ever, but the battery seems to have run out
  6. we have some tough games but the heat is on utd...west ham next and that is now a real toughie as they have found form at the right time and are fighting for their lives...still this will give the boys a real psycholgical lift...they looked shattered against spurs today and the season is taking it's toll, but that news will give them renewed belief
  7. at last! I deliberately stayed away from the radio/tv as I feel I have jinxed it every time utd were struggling and then listened/waTCHED THEM get the points...the heat is on them now no mistake
  8. I was at the game and from what I saw of joe he's still short of pace and fitness which is to be expected, but he looked in good touch, some great touches and skills, emphasising how much we've missed him...got great reception from the fans and if he keeps this progress up he will be starting games soon
  9. well to be fair the valencia defenders did their bit by fouling our players every time the ball went into the box, but some of lamps deliveries were awful
  10. to be fair ballack did play well in the first half but he does have a tendency to fade out of games whether playing well or not...as for lamps he got better as it went on but seemed too eager to score than set up a team=mate and I think that's cos of being dropped by england...he looked at times to want to prove a point rather than pick out the best option...no stats on sheva distance, they only show the top 3 from each side..lamps was 1km behind ballack and Ashley cole was third...their best runner was David Villa coming in at 12.2km.. spanish tv also had a mad camera angle, unless sky had it too, where they were right over jose's shoulder filming him fill out his tactics sheets...in fact they were so fascinated they showed that more than the game at times...it was also a challenge to listen to jose post match in spanish and trying to figure out what he was saying...I'm sure I detected him complaining about not getting a pen and that the second leg will be difficult but it will be difficul for them too
  11. Spanish tv flash up stats of how far a player has run during the game and it revealed a Chelsea player had covered the most ground out of the two teams...so who was it? Diarra, up and down the right flank? Ashley Cole - up and down the left flank? Drogba - leading the line? No step forward Michael Ballack who ran almost 13km in that 90 minutes...still to run that far and do so little is a question for our most intelligent academics
  12. there were shades of bayern munich 2005 in this one...we were struggling passing it around so second half it was long ball time...it worked to a point but i think we got carried away with it...I just wish Kalou had netted that sitter from six yards and I think the ref bottled a few clear pens tonight...every time the ball was in their box they were pulling or holding our players back...clear motm...Diarra...they got lucky with their goal...silva tried to pass it, Mikel spotted it and tried to block pass, but it deflected off his leg into space for him...then he hit one of those shots that you pull off one in a thousand
  13. watching the game from spain as I am on work trip...great to see stamford bridge...the spanish commentators are going on about boring boring chelsea...time to shut their faces...come on you blues
  14. psv should have given pool a bye to the last four and saved themselves the embarassment. I don't know who should feel worse...psv for that humiliation or the arse for having lost to them!
  15. ITV IS THE WORST STATION FOR FOOTBALL COVERAGE...channel five and bravo outdo them! I can't believe it...also how thick are setanta...do they really think that we are going to pay for another satellite package to watch the likes of England?
  16. my favourite face in the picture is either robinson's gormless one or the person sat below two guys in white spurs shirts already with the hand on the forehead in dismay
  17. We saw that against Watford. what a creative side we were I'll give you that one. Watford is the type of team Robben likes to terrorise. Hey GB, I bet you're looking forward to the return of Joe Cole. without robben, drogba wouldn't have scored the goal that won us the carling cup and we'd have been knocked out of the champions league by porto
  18. one thing that can't be faulted is the team's spirit...they didn't play well today but they fought literally to the end
  19. Utd's win today reminded me of ours against west ham at the same time last year and will be a massive morale boost for them...although they didn't get a man sent off like we did, they had vidic off and were 1-0 down and come back to win 4-1...typically when i tuned into the radio they were losing and then shortly afterward got the equaliser...it's depressing, but at least we're still fighting
  20. JT as well...swp is so frustrating...he started well and seemed to be confident, but his final ball was terrible.
  21. I haven't been one of the fierce critics on here all season, but my patience ran out today...coasted around as watford put their foot in, cocked up two great chances, let francis have a free shot at goal near the end and I think is a major reason why our midfield looks so easy to get beyond...I missed him winning the ball for the goal, but that only takes him to a -5!
  22. early rating Ballack -10 can we get a refund?
  23. just came on here to concede the title and slag the players off for an abject performance, but then Kalou came to our rescue...I almopst dropped my laptop
  24. i'm as frustrated as anybody...you do wonder if he will ever have an injury free season...obviously he did it with holland but it must have been building up for some time...anyone who suggests we won't miss him is blind, but Joe could be back next week, although he will take time to hit form
  25. funny thing about gerrard was that before his goal he was having a stinker, he even got nutmegged by one of their players as well as producing that shocking dive for a pen...but after his goal his game did improve and worryingly it will cover up the cracks for the rest of his performance...people will say that england are better with gerrard in the middle and no lamps, when I was thinking a lamps getting in the box was just what england needed in the first half...gerrard was dropping way too deep for the attacking midfield role, he was behind hargreaves a lot of the time and as usual his passing was dire...the fans at the stadium had short memories as they were jeering him when he had a free kick on the left of the area and hit it straight out for a goal kick...it seems that lamps was dropped by mcclaren after all, well if i was frank i'd say stuff england and fire chelsea to more trophies...best way to silence the critics
