  1. Cool. As I said, 48 hours. Right now all I've got is: Pochettino, who won the french league, never won the french league because it's not Bundesliga.
  2. We're not in the mud, and certainly not after a few games. 5th is success. We are not far off that, we've dominated every single game so far on metrics - which also doesn't mean there aren't big issues to solve, but those need time. We are not 'fecked'. We have 4/5 starters injured. Perspective.
  3. Sigh...would you like me to argue as to why a manager who won Ligue 1 with PSG, did not win Ligue 1 with PSG? Give me 48 hours and I'll have something concrete.
  4. Saka has more top level experience than all of our attackers combined (outside of Sterling). Perspective?
  5. Leave the money discussion for the twitter morons. What does matter to anyone how much we spent if we spend it on potential. Expectations are not set by the money spent. If Brighton went and spent 500m on 18 year olds, it doesn't mean they should be challenging. Getting 5th is quite literally, an improvement for us. We are the youngest team in the league, with a brand new squad, and a brand new manager. Those are your excuses, and they are valid!
  6. Klopp and Guardiola aren't playing with 3 of their back 4 being new to the team/league. Klopp and Guardiola have the luxury of potent attacks that can mitigate defensive frailties. The formation is fine, it's what we saw in preseason and what we should expect to see. Now you can disagree with playing Levi at LB and Chilwell at LW and that's fine, but I don't really see an issue with him not trusting Mudryk or Cucurella. And with the injuries, Palmer just arriving, his options are limited. Anyone calling him a serial bottler is a moron. He did fantastic work at SH and Spurs, playing some brilliant stuff along the way. Poch and his choices are far from being the determining factor in our current form. And seeing complaints after our young team shows expected inconsistencies will get tiring super quickly.
  7. It was a good performance but let's not gloss over the fact that on 5 or 6 occasions, possibly more, a better pass or touch from him would (should) have led to a great chance. He messed up a great run from Jackson so many times. Reminded me of first month Torres playing in front of Kalouda. We could have Haaland upfront but he'd be getting no change out of some of these guys.
  8. Waste of funds. Use Disasi or buy a youngster. Wouldn't be a surprise if they bought, although I personally would just keep Lewis Hall and use him there.
  9. James is the most complete. He would be about 2nd for any technical, tactical or physical aspect if comparing those players. Take Trent for example - more creative than anyone on that list but James is better defensively, physically, would probably rack up the same number of assists if he was feeding the Liverpool frontline, and is a bigger goal threat. Alas, I think it's time to move the guy to midfield and bring back memories of those Wigan days. Note, Disasi can cover at RB as well which is probably a good reason as to why the club got him.
  10. I'm sorry but I've seen this way too many times now - what kind of moronic businessmen do people want running the club? Guys who just pay whatever to get things done. I much prefer a tough negotiator, thanks.
  11. I've been impressed with him as much as anyone else on the tour. I mean, we sold a benchwarmer for 60 million and essentially replaced him with someone in-house who, from all evidence, is a better passer and better in transition phases.
  12. Those clubs weren't sanctioned because swap deals 'are not allowed'. It was due to some creative accounting. There is zero evidence of us doing rash deals just to pump up the numbers. Vlahovic has been a target since the beginning of the window. Disasi is a reaction to Fofana's injury and potential Chalobah exit. And we still remain focused on Caicedo - which is evidence to the contrary. Pochettino won't guarantee him a starting position so if he comes it will be on our terms. As mentioned by other posters, we would potentially be trading a useless asset with no resale value for something that at least can contribute, at less wages, and has the upside of a profit if he has a good run. Just look at how much the Saudis are offering for Osimhen. There were those 'angles' for Werner and Havertz as well and we see what happened with them because they were young and had resale value.
  13. Completely agree. And just to be clear, patience, support, and understanding does not equal blind critique. The conversation you've quoted relates to performances of Santos vs Carney+Casadei. They've all made mistakes, Humphreys made some in the last match including one for the goal. It's okay to mention these, to understand that's a part of their process, and won't necessarily define their career trajectories. Anyone drawing a conclusion after one game is a moron.
  14. What's been impressive about him isn't defined by a patch of form. His work rate, speed, technical ability, positional awareness will have him doing a good job regardless - as you've alluded to. And given the striker options available on the market, I'd also be happy to see him stake a claim. The new recruitment team are really doing a fine job. .
  15. Same. Would've loved to see him stay for the effort and commitment alone. But I had a feeling the recruitment team + Pochettino would come to this decision after the Brighton game. Because he falls a little short with his level, he is competing with backup players for game time but taking a senior slot that unfortunately needs to go to another cm after Caicedo.
  16. No need to bow, just wink and a nod will suffice. A suggestion if you're keen to improve your understanding - put down the foam finger and watch the game critically. Rewatch the first half, keep an eye on Carney, take note of the number of times Brighton exploited his space, being in the wrong position during build up, how many times he over and underweighted his passes. And who knows, in another 55 years you could even be classed as a novice.
  17. Not bad. Midfield scares me though. I'd probably bring in another senior option and then either loan out Hall or *big gulp* sell Gallagher. We desperately need more physicality and technical proficiency in there. In no way should we be relying on 18 year olds or Gallagher if Enzo or Caiceido pick up a knock. I would also look to bring in Kudus as well, Olise can cover centrally and then Pochettino can slowly phase out Sterling and his crazy wages.
  18. Strange. They were both comfortably worse than Santos in the game and made numerous tactical and technical errors. I think at least one of them will leave on loan. I don't think there will be room for both AND Gallagher.
  19. I feel what isn't appreciated enough, is that even while traveling at that speed, he gets in a near perfect cross with his weaker foot. His potential is quite frightening.
  20. I think 2 seasons in a row with the highest injury count in Europe's top leagues says there may be some issue... Although part of that is addressed just be getting rid of Kante, Kova, and Pulisic.
  21. He's shown that dimension before. It's incredibly difficult to dribble at that speed and spot/execute a proper reverse pass in the final third - he's done that in a few games last season. You see the pace and dribbling - but Adama Traore does that and we know how 'useful' he is. It's the other stuff in combination that makes you realise why someone so raw sold for 60m+.
  22. Not the same but similar. Salah didn't have the vision and technical ability that Mudryk has, but his runs and timing were very good even at 22. Mudryk seems like an attacker you'd want to create in a lab or Fifa - lightning quick, excellent close control, can spot a pass/run and execute with proper weighting. And now needs game time, consistency, and good coaching.
  23. Those are great positives to appreciate....what about Mason Mount's though?
  24. Look, I don't think anyone can argue that is definitely not the case - but it's waaaaay too soon to tell. Coming to this conclusion after 1 manic year of ownership with a boatload of changes is nonsensical. At this point, I'm happy with most of what I've heard and seen - even the risks that never panned out. So we should simply wait and see if the club can actually match the ambition they've claimed.
