Neither of the remakes of the Titanic (i.e. the Kenneth More one and the puke-making Leonardo di Caprio and Kate Winslet one) came anywhere near the original 1930s (?) version.

The King Kong in the 70s was awful. The 2005 one was amazing though.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake was fairly dire. Took all of the implied horror and true suspense of the original and turned it into a parody of the Scream franchise

oh...my...god. I'm intrigued to watch the whole film now purely for the comic value. Was there need for Cage to punch that woman in the face while dressed as a bear? Seriously. :D

The Day the Earth Stood Still - just saw the remake on dvd: Club Keno is probably about the best thing going for it - I kid you not! Jennifer Connolly just comes across as pissed off all film (probably realized too late what a woeful script/direction/other casting etc). Kathy Bates is hilarious without meaning to be. Whole film had us in stitches. Original, of course, a classic.

is that the keanu reeves one? ive saw adverts for it and it looks utter garbage, unsurprisingly. i also watched the new time machine film last week, the one with guy pearce and samantha mumba. good god, it was horrendous. it had almost nothing to connect it to the original.
