The greatest centre-forward in the world

Featured Replies

Two words. First word.... Didier. Second word....Drogba.

Fernando Torres. Good player like him alot. Could possibly wear the crown........... when Drogba retires.

David Villa. Seen him up against Drogba live. There is no comparison. Villa would be a huge step back. Another good player but not in Drogba's class.

I loved Kerry Dixon. Still do. But he wasn't Drogba. My old dad saw us win it in '54/55. He saw Greaves. He saw Tambling. He saw the young Osgood, and loved him. But even he admits we have never had a player who is a one man forward line.

Greatest centre-forward in the world.

Greatest centre-forward Chelsea have ever had.

Didier Drogba.

fantastic today, and in general since hiddink took over. we are so much better with him fit and on form.

but he has to come back and do it over a full season again before I'd think about putting him back up there.

Absolutely agree . Ossie is my all time favourite player , i adored the guy but Drogba has it all and he's capable of winning games on his own. He's a complete centre forward and im happy to say, i only ever slagged him off once on here , while a lot tore him apart [ for good reaons ] but i looked back on what he helped us achieve and that was generally good enough for me .

Its a pity other fans wont give him the credit he deserves , he'll always be knon as a cheat , a diver and a big girls blouse to the scousers and mancs but thats jealously and bitterness .

Legend.

As long as his mind is on the job, he is the best , the most scary centre forward in the world. Even on a bad day where he miss easy chances, he can create 4-5 chances for himself and others, e.g. first leg against Liverpool. Great finisher like Villa can have a quiet day if you cut his supply. Drogba on the other hand, will be a constant threat even on the receiving end of a long punt from Goal keeper.

when he is up for it he is simply unplayable I think he has aleast two more great seasons in him so if he can stay as hungry as he is right now I would love him to stay and score lots of goals ::ChElSeaFLag::

Looking for a replacement for him right now is imposible becuse every1 would be a step back right now

If Drogba has the motivation he is indeed the best forward in the world, the problem with Drogba is we are just sometimes unsure of which Drogba will show up. The way he has been playing the last few months has been outstanding, averaging a goal a game since February 25th, that's more then you could ask for.

on his day no-one can handle him, hes an incredible footballer. but hes alos a horrible sod and earlier this season i would gladly have seen him go simply because of his attitude towards the club and therefore the fans. theres still every chance we will have the ridiculous will he wont he sh*te we get from him every transfer window. love him as a player, cant stand his attitude towards us.

On form he's unplayable. Terrorises defences - centre halfs must hate to see his name on the sheet. Hope he stays with us until he retires as I'd hate to play against him.

There's times when you want to kick him up the arse, but when he's on top form no defence can handle him. Drogs' current form shows just how significant Big Phil's failure to win him over was.

sums it up well for me. Right now, he looks like he is on a mission and absolutely nobody can stop him from scoring. I wonder if, by some miracle, Hiddink ends up staying if he will keep this level of play. I think its pretty obvious he is elevating his game with the possibility of trophies still in store

Have to agree, pound for pound the most complete striker in the world right now but something ive been thinking about, is what does that say about the forwards in football right now.

How does drogba compare with the greats over the years, Ronaldo and shevchenko in there prime, is he in there league, going back a bit more shearer, klinsman, vanbasten, weah, even Henry at his best, not to mention cantona bergkamp and zola who while not as prolific in frount of goal as the others mentioned still ever bit as important

those some of the best strikers i have ever seen play would you put drogba in with that lot, on top of the heap or is it a case of there not that many stirkers around at the moment on top of there game

I think there has been an emergence of smaller, more technical strikers, but Drogba shows us what strength and speed can do.

it's funny, really clear to anyone who grew up watching throughout the nineties... in 95' there must have been 10-15 great strikers in the world...

I think it's cyclical- since 2000 there haven't been as many great strikers, but there have been loads of great central midfield players, probably more than 10-15 years ago.

Love him. He strikes fear into opposition defenders and fans alike. His attitude at times is questionable, and there have been times such as the 3-0 drubbing at Old Trafford in January when I could have cheerfully throttled him!

Apart from that, he's been a fantastic player and as I think i've said in another thread, I could not bear it if he pitched up at the Bridge playing for someone else.

Drogba is completely unplayable when he wants to be and right now he wants to be. I like how he's not above digging in and he's a good defender. This is all when he's up for it though and thats not all the time which spoils him a bit.

I liked Sparky (the goal v Vicenza is on youtube for just one example)and JFH was handy to bring on as a sub when you were looking for three goals.

Didier Drogba with his head on is simply unplayable.

Even in his early days at the Bridge, when he was ridiculed by many Chelsea fans, both on these forums, in pub's close to the ground and indeed on the terraces, I knew this was a player that would deliver on the big stage.

Many people didn't give him enough credit when we won the league two years on the bounce, an only striker on many occasions with Duff and Robben providing the width.

For me pound for pound he's been the best striker Chelsea football Club has ever had. The way he ended Sendoros's career at Arsenal is proof that Centre Halves can be judged at the top level against him to prove their worth.

When we needed a striker back then I was in the South of France on vacation, my mate took me to a Marseille game and he scored two goals and ran the opposition ragged, their fans chanted his name constantly throughout the game, he thrived on it. In the pubs afterward fans told me he was their best ever player and no defender in France could handle him.

I wanted him out after the Man Utd game away this season, his body language said he wanted out, his antics when getting sent off in the Euro Cup Final angered me, maybe he not JT should have taken all the press flak.

But now, the Drog is back and like his days in France he is getting plaudits again, this surely is the key to making him tick - support !!!

Scolari never did, Hiddink like Jose has got him going again, great players deliver in BIG GAMES, the guy always shows up when it matters and that should never be forgotten.

If you ask any centre half in the world what Centre Forward they hate facing, the name of Didier Drogba will come out of their mouths.

BRING ON BARCA !!!!!

he's regained a lot of respect has drogba since guss took over

he looks like he's up for the challenge, and doesnt seem to spend as much time on his arse moaning

long may it continue

Never doubt his strength, ability or quality, he had a dodgey temprament after Jose left, but didn't we all?

I have stuck up for Drogba more than most on here, and never wanted him to leave. On his day he is unplayable and has seen off almost every decent centre half the premier lauge has thrown at him.

Big games - Drogba always turns up!! and usually scores.

Well done DD
