Last Movie You Watched

Featured Replies

Are you talking about The Collector with Terence Stamp and Samantha Eggar? Or has someone had the temerity to highjack the title for a different film?

I loved that movie, and had forgotten all about it until you wrote this post, Moi. Samantha Eggar was a beautiful woman, and played this role really well. Interesting movie, and I only have vague memories of it now, and will have to watch it again sometime soon, I hope.

I've just got back from seeing When You're Strange - a documentary about The Doors, narrated by Johnny Depp. It uses footage (some of it previously unseen) from the band's formation in1965 till Morrison's death in 1971. I was mesmerised by it and could easily have stayed in my seat and watched it again. Indeed I may go back on Moday!

I went to see it today and it was a bit of a letdown. It was refreshing to see a music documentary which didn't have "old talking heads" reminiscing, but Johnny Depp's style of narration made it quite dry. I think I'd need to see it again to make sure, but I got a feeling that they could have been a bit more economical with their use of narration, because at times I felt like the narrator wasn't satisfied to just tell a story, but he wanted to tell me what I should think about the story and what I should think about the music as well. I wasn't too impressed with the way they'd edited some of the concert footage. There was at least one scene in which the we were being told about some particular incident, yet the sequence was built by mixing footage from various different concerts. I know how hard it is to get archive material and some of the material that they would have needed doesn't even exist because no one filmed that particular concert or that particular incident, but I just didn't like some of those "live sequences". Even with these "flaws", I thought it was pretty decent documentary, but after some of the praise I'd read and heard, I was expecting more. Especially as I've always liked their music.

Last night I watched an old favourite of mine - The Guns of Navarone.

There was no need to post the youtube link. All you needed to do was to write: "You now have the theme from Guns of Navarone playing in your head." :laugh2:

Watched Time Cop last night (I'm not entirely sure why... my friends insisted). I wouldn't advise it. Suffice to say that it stars Jean Claude Van Damme as a time-travelling cop.

At what point did you think watching that would be a good idea? You must have been really bored.

Luckily I had some 'assistance' to make it more interesting. I'm not sure what I would have done otherwise...

Ahh, pissed then eh. Good thinking.

Twilight: Eclipse. Avoid at all costs. I rather enjoyed the two preceding, but this one is seriously, seriously dire.

I've heard that it's supposed to be the best Twilight-movie. Though that doesn't mean much since the first two are absolutely abysmal.

Percy jackson and the lightening thief

i quite enjoyed it, the acting was a bit poor, but there was some good special effects and it had an original story to it

So I was home alone last night and fancied watching a film. Picking one was a nightmare on sky, it was a magnificent line up of oldish classics. Tango & Cash, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Rock, Under Siege & V for Vendetta all on one channel or another. Went with The Rock, belting film (only after watching the cake bit in Under Siege obviously, ooohh baby)

Clash of the Titans, loved it, really enjoy these movies and the effects were real nice.

I wasn't expecting to see a masterpiece, but I expected to see some brilliant effects(at least), but most of the time they weren't all that impressive. Some the effects looked like something out of a video game.

The Scarface Mob (1959)

this was actually the cinema release of the first two episodes of The Untouchables TV series, the one with Robert Stack as Elliot Ness. i'd seen it before but having recently bought series 1 and 2 on DVD wanted to start again from scratch. it starts off a little slowly by today's standards, but improves dramatically in what what would have been the second episode.

overall a very good start to an excellent series.

Just watched the "Slammin' Salmon" last night. From the same guys that made Super Troopers, Beerfest, Club Dread.... not bad at all!

Some dumb yet funny parts

My friends and I decided to watch the first Star Wars film (later "A New Hope") last night. It's always fun to watch these old films from childhood again.

What version? The original or one of them special editions?

It was the DVD version where they add the scene with Jabba the Hutt, Boba Fett and Han Solo in the Docking Bay, and also where they attempt to resolve the 'Greedo/Han shot first' situation by having them shoot at the same time. Not quite as good as the very original, sadly. :P

I wish they would just release the original versions on DVD.

They did. The new updated DVD versions of the original trilogy include the original theatrical versions. At least I think so.

Oh, I didn't know that. I thought Lucas wasn't going to release the old versions anymore. I'll have to look into it then.
