Last Movie You Watched

I watched that and blimey I can't believe what gos on in peoples imagination...how do you come up with that storyline and then think you're onto a winner...depressing as reading half the posts in here.

Dam it, I thought it looked a bit whacky, it was the first movie that Nick Frost has had a big hand in writing with Pegg, looks like he should just stick to the comedy acting, let Pegg do the writing, but saying that I think they are a great comedy pairing, Hot Fuzz will be a cult classic if it hasn't become one already.

Mate I think you missed something in that post, we were talking about Never let me go, a dismal film about kids growing up in a bording school being bred to give their Major organs up for transplants, horrible idea pretty well acted which made it all the worse.

I haven't seen Paul yet if thats what you're thinking of but whatever they get involved in is usually pretty funny, I'm just about to watch Burke and Hare

I have just watched "Dogtooth" on the recommendation of KrazyTea. He did warn me it might not be to my taste! The cover describes it as "Disconcertingly funny" It is certainly disconcerting, but funny? No! It is bizarre, and very thought-provoking. I can't say I enjoyed it, but at the same time, I didn't want to switch it off. Awfully glad I watched it alone, though! Certainly not a film you want to watch with your children, however grown up they may be.

Tonight I watched Harry Brown with Michael Caine, who just gets better and better as he ages! A very dark and sadly, I think, very realistic portrayal of inner city drug gangs. I don't want to give away any of the plot, but you have to ask yourself at the end whether Caine's character did the right thing. I wish I could say no, but... see it for yourselves.

I must admit, my favourite film of all time, and one which i've watched more than any other is Jaws.Yep,i know its that rubber shark old s**t,but i watched it first time round as an eight year old,(my folks coundn't/or were to tight to get a baby sitter?).Bejesus,no film ever has given me a six week nightmare, the part of the film where the guy in the dinghy gets his leg bitten off, and you see it sink to the floor, still sticks in my mind. But before you laugh,it had a great cast, superb direction,a memorable opening,no dull parts,a soundtrack that lasts to this day,and if nothing else,it's brought an awareness of sharks/sealife that has been with us ever since. What more could you ask of a film but to stick in the memory?.

P.S I loved star wars too.

P.P.S And close encounters of the third kind.

Saw it awhile back and it's really good. Caine is one heck of an actor. He's like a fine wine - gets better for each year.

And as for what he did was right or wrong, I'm in two minds.

Jaws is a real classic. I think I saw it when I was about four years old, sitting in my fathers lap one night. Can't remember if it scared me much. Perhaps I was too young to get scared ;)

Seen it dozens of times since then. Last time was last summer I think and it's still really good. The shark might not be the most realistic, but considering that they didn't have the same special effects then as they do now it's still quite good. And the acting and the script lifts the movie. And of course the theme. It's amazing how someone can make something that simple, yet so brilliant.

Oh, and I never go swimming after dark...

Steven Spielberg deserves credit for the film, but I would recommend the book by Peter Benchley which seems overlooked and was, I think, even scarier.

My memory of the book (admittedly from a long time ago) is that there was a greater emphasis on the greed of the town's shopkeepers and hotel owners who put pressure on the police chief to keep the beaches open because they didn't want to lose money, and were prepared to accept a few deaths to keep their profits up. For me that made it a) more interesting and B.) more scary because the real shark was only doing what came naturally to him whereas the sharks in the town were making a considered choice.

P.S. when you do little b bracket you get a smiley face!

I saw Black Swan last night and it's probably my least favorite Aronofsky movie. It's quite intense and visually impressive, but I thought the ending was a bit too obvious and that made Nina's "journey" less interesting. Great performance from Natalie Portman, though.

I'm currently studying "Celle Qui N'Etait-Plus" for my literature module in French, and after reading that I was advised to check out the film adaptation, Les Diaboliques. And having only seen quite literally a handful of black and white movies in my time, this one definitely tops the list, it was fantastic. The ending took some time thinking about, as when it ended, I was just confused. But I re-watched the last 5 or so minutes maybe 3 times, and though it is as ambiguous an ending as you're ever likely to see, I loved it. Ambiguity is brilliant.

Watched 'Elizabeth' last night, with Cate Blanchett. That's to say Cate Blanchett was playing the lead role, and not sitting next to me on the sofa, more's the pity.

It was a decent film, and the scene where the heretics were burnt was great (I just imagined they were scousers). Unfortunately, yet again modern filmmakers made the mistake of letting leading actors keeping their modern hairstyles, which I'm sure would have looked totally out of place in the 16th century.

Just seen Takers (2010) with Chris Brown, Hayden Christensen, T.I, Matt Dillon and more.

Got bad reviews from the so called critics but I learnt over the years to ignore what them people say, this was a really really good action movie and surprisingly good acting from Chris Brown and T.I.

I recommend it to everyone whos been waiting for a good action flick involving robberies and crazy police chases, it will keep you interested from start to finish. Trust me on this one!

The Human Centipede - very messed up!

Isnt that one of them, oh no our car stopped working in the middle of nowhere, lets go knock on this door for help, surely it wont be a crazy man living here! Add some rain on top of that with some fit girls.

Was it any good or just disgusting?

The Human Centipede - very messed up!

I saw a youtube advert for that and that was enough for me, just so very wrong.

It was one of those films you want to know what happens at the end, so you stay with it. I wouldn't say it was very good at all, they obviously just wanted to push the shock factor in which gave it (some) popularity. As far as that sort of film goes, it could have been so much better.

"The King's Speech"

The movie deals with the king's speech impediment. In the final scene they did an excellent job adapting the 2nd movement of Beethoven's 7th Symphiony to the king attempting to give his speech without stuttering. The music adds to the tension as it builds throughout the speech. Beautiful piece of music. Excellent acting.

Just watched Drive Angry...Nicholas Cage, Some lovely old American Cars in it and a lot of action (and Amber Heard which helped a lot).

Agreed, it's just the premise of the whole film that drew so many people in. It is a disgusting idea, but I didn't think the director took enough risks when making it. He gave it a disgusting idea, why not make it an actually disgusting film, rather than the drivel it actually was?

There was some consolation though RBJ!

If you think Human Centipede wasn't disgusting enough to stomach, go try 'Slaughtered Vomit Dolls', it is the most f**ked up film ever!

Haha, I am on my girlfriend's computer or else I would totally look that movie up right now.

As for Human Centipede, I passed on viewing it, as I did with the Hostel movies and other "torture porn" movies.

Didnt think Hostel was that bad, I can actually take a lot of gore and sh*t in movies but I hate The Ring, The Grudge etc.

Anyone else waiting for Scream 4, should be good as I love the other ones.
