March 10, 201412 yr Prison Break got progressively worse... Season one was superb though, really enjoyed watching it. I'm almost caught up with season 4 of The Walking Dead now, I think I'm only 2 episode behind. Then I'm intending to watch season 2 of House of Cards, I loved the first season of that. Been watching a bit of Arrow as well but it doesn't really seem to be getting much better. I am really loving Always Sunny In Philadelphia at the moment, I watch an episode in bed each night on my tablet, really funny, appeals to my sense of humour. Has anyone watched the League? It's about a fantasy football league. I know absolutely nothing about American football, so I don't get the player references, but as far as comedy goes, I love it. It's not about the sport, it's about the ridiculous people involved. If you like Always Sunny, I'd suggest giving it a try. Give it a few episodes and see if you get enjoyment out of it. Both of them are FX shows, and air in the same period...I think they might actually be shown one after the other (I'm in Australia, so obviously not shown like that for me). My sister bought me the first 3 seasons when she was in America, because I've never seen the DVD's in Australia.
March 10, 201412 yr Im pleased that freeview have a channel called BONANZA......Old series like Bonanza, Lucile Ball, Beverly Hillbillys etc.....Very nostalgic for me Really? I've never found that - do you know if it's available all round the country?
March 12, 201412 yr When I hear the words, Cult TV, I imagine older shows.. I don't think modern programs like Prison Break and Lost can be classed as Cult shows yet. Anyway, despite only being 19 years old I enjoy a lot of older TV shows from the 60's.. Some of my favourties are, The Prisoner, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., I Dream of Jeannie, The Phil Silvers Show (AKA Sgt Bilko).. I also like a few 90's programmes like Quantum Leap and Frasier.. But I don't really like many modern TV shows.. The last new series I really enjoyed was the BBC version of Robin Hood. Most people who are my age have never even heard of most of these programmes that I've listed, but I think that's their loss.. I'm just thankfully to my parents and grandparents for introducing me to these classic shows.

March 13, 201412 yr I loved the Man from UNCLE (though I hasten to add, I was too young to follow it but my brothers and sisters all watched it) - had quite a crush on David McCallum and got his autograph many years later. We had all the books too which I read avidly - although about 10 years after the series had ended. There was a rhyme we used to say about it too "God made the oysters, the oysters made the pearls, Ilya does the dirty work, Napoleon gets the girls". No idea where that came from! And the Prisoner was also brilliant. Have you been to Portmerion where it was filmed? Seriously weird place! and I also agree with you Moi - Bilko was hilarious.
March 13, 201412 yr Really? I've never found that - do you know if it's available all round the country? sorry dont know the answer to that
March 13, 201412 yr I tried to google it but got bogged down. May just try retuning my box and see if I get any new channels.

Yes I've been to Portmerion three times. The last time I went there was when I was 12. I'm thinking of going back again this year. My mother owns a caravan in North Wales which is fairly close to Portmerion (about 40 miles away). I think it's a really beautiful place, a little weird maybe, but still beautiful.
June 9, 201412 yr Recently I've been watching Rectify and highly recommend it. The first season is a short 6 episode series about a man who has just been released after spending 20 years on death row for the rape and murder of a minor when new DNA evidence casts doubt over his conviction. Many people in the small town where he lives refuse to accept his innocence (actually it isn't made clear in the first season whether he really did it or not) and the series focuses on his struggle to readjust to society and all the changes that have happened since he went inside, and the difficulties he faces forming new relationships in a somewhat hostile world after 20 years with no real social or physical contact. It's very much a character driven story so don't watch it expecting to see loads of naked boobs, beheadings, explosions, etc. The second season airs this month and I'm looking forward to it as the first season had quite a surprising ending.

Game of Thrones is great but I agree the nudity often feels tacked on. I guess they're aiming to please the adolescent male target demographic that traditionally goes in for that fantasy stuff but might get bored with all the talking and complicated interwoven plots. That said, a naked Daenerys Targaryen is a sight for sore eyes.

(says the very much post adolescent female)
June 9, 201412 yr I can assure you there is just as much sex and nudity in the books! Not enough male nudity however! (says the very much post adolescent female) Ah well... my point still stands, it's just the blame lies with the author (and he does look like a bit of an old perv to me) rather than the TV people. By the way, did I mention how I enjoyed Rectify recently? It's a really good show but I don't think many people are watching it.

June 10, 201412 yr Ah yes, I have often suspected that old George stops writing every now and then to have a ...k! I have never heard of Rectify - where can I find it? I don't think it's available outside North America legally, which is daft. I downloaded it off of one of those torrent things.
June 10, 201412 yr Rectify sounds like it could be decent. I think im one of those who wont watch GoT because of how popular it actually is...that and once i tried watching it for 5 minutes and i saw some little dragons so i flipped the channel...i hate fantasy crap..lol
June 18, 201412 yr The origional ...LOST IN SPACE SERIES.......................................OH THE PAIN THE PAIN!!!!!!...........Remember sometime in the early 70s (must have been coz i remember wearing rolled up RUPERT trousers) being on waterloo stn either going or coming back from a match and meeting a fellow from america. We got into talking LOST IN SPACE (dont know why) and he said he knew of the fellow who played DR ZACHARY SMITH in the series....Said he was one of the most flamboyant gays in Hollywood.................OH i said
June 23, 201412 yr Sergeant Bilko was hilarious! I also like Frasier - mostly because of Niles. There's an episode where Frasier and Niles end up drinking a glass of wine from a bottle the dads new and loud girlfriend has brought round. Their snobby reaction was the best.Love Red Dwarf, series 2 - 5 only though. Edited June 23, 201412 yr by Mr Pink
June 29, 201412 yr For me being a teenager at that time, for me miami vice was and still is the coolest show ever made. Fantastic 80's soundtrack and don johnson was cool as sonny Crockett. Back then I had the hairstyle but I doubt the pastel coloured suits and t shirts with slip on shoes minus the socks would have been a hit!! I havve the boxset and watch it a bit...
July 1, 201412 yr Can i recommend 15 Storeys High written and starring Chelsea fan Sean Locke. It was put on at ridiculous times and never got the audience it deserved. All two series are on You Tube or it's about a fiver to buy online. Favourite episode is series 1 episode 5 with the late great Felix Dexter. But if your sort of comedy is The Vicar of Dibley or Keeping Up Appearances this won't be for you.
July 1, 201412 yr I've the DVD of that, its a bloody brilliant show, such a shame its so underrated. Loved the blue rat episode, and the one where Errol has to fight the ladies of.
July 1, 201412 yr I loved 15 Stories high, it's been a few years since I watched it but the episode where Vince has drunkenly wrecked the graveyard by dragging a stolen plough home from the pub comes to mind.
