May 4, 201313 yr I would second Suits, it's fantastic. I also recommend Chuck for something light (especially first 3 seasons)....I can't help but recommend Chuck though, because I enjoyed it immensely (not everyone will feel the same about it)
May 5, 201313 yr If anyone fancies watching something light hearted then go for Arrested Devlopment. Absolutely hilarious, quickly becoming one of my favourite comedies!
May 6, 201313 yr Started watching the new Sherlock Holmes show, Elementary. I found some episodes online and I must say it's really not too bad at all. The storylines get fairly repetitive but Jonny Lee Miller's acting in it is well worth the watch alone. Edited May 6, 201313 yr by Teritus
May 9, 201313 yr I would second Suits, it's fantastic. I also recommend Chuck for something light (especially first 3 seasons)....I can't help but recommend Chuck though, because I enjoyed it immensely (not everyone will feel the same about it) I thought Chuck was brilliant until the last season (4 maybe?) that I couldn't finish because of how disgustingly cheesy it became. The story did get a bit silly towards the end of the good seasons, which is a shame because I loved it at first.
May 10, 201313 yr I thought Chuck was brilliant until the last season (4 maybe?) that I couldn't finish because of how disgustingly cheesy it became. The story did get a bit silly towards the end of the good seasons, which is a shame because I loved it at first. Last 2 seasons (4,5), lost momentum...I can get through a little bit of cheesiness, and long as it doesn't become cringeworthy (which it didn't to me). But the first 3 seasons are amongst my favourite things I've watched on tv. It's the only show I own on dvd I continue going back to watch. Probably because it's just a pretty light show.
May 11, 201313 yr Tried watching 24, think I stopped on season 3. Just got boring afterawhile and could sort of tell what was going to happen. Girl gets kidnapped, girl escapes, girl gets kidnapped again and so forth! haha
May 11, 201313 yr Tried watching 24, think I stopped on season 3. Just got boring afterawhile and could sort of tell what was going to happen. Girl gets kidnapped, girl escapes, girl gets kidnapped again and so forth! haha I think the first few series were the best thing on TV at the time but there are only do many times you can re-work the same scenario before it becomes a handicap. I don't think I've watched it since season 4. I do think that the early seasons did a lot to raise the quality standard for TV series though, and we've been benefiting from this ever since.
May 24, 201313 yr I watched all of 8 seasons. After 6 seasons, it really got old and predictable, and producers decided, I quote, "to completely reinvent the show". In my opinion, they succeeded. Seasons 7 and 8 are probably the best of all series. I'm currently watching Person of Interest. Great show, much like 24 but with a more character development.
May 24, 201313 yr I made it up to about half way through season five of 24 but it was exactly the same as a previous season except they swapped Arabs with Russians as the threat.
June 6, 201313 yr I only watched one season ever, I think it was 6 or 7. It's a lot of fun for one season, but I don't think I could do multiple seasons. Looking back on the season, so many stupid plot twists lead me to believe that if this next "24" is actually more like a "12", that could be good for the show's quality.
June 6, 201313 yr arrested development is quality, never seen it until I heard they were making a come back with a new season so decided to watch it from the start and I have to say its one of the best shows I've seen, hilarious
June 8, 201313 yr Been watching Doctor Who lately....Never seen it before now (it finished up when I moved over to England, not that I would have been old enough to watch it anyway, and it didn't start up again till I'd been long back in Australia). I'd heard a bit about it, and decided, why not. I like a fair bit of sci-fi. Started with the 2005 series (not the early stuff). It was ok...bit underwhelmed at times too. Some of the alien races seemed a bit too cheesy. I assume it's not a big budget show, because some of the costumes and effects are a little silly. The Slavines are the worst hahaha...absolutely terrible. But it started sucking me in, despite still having moments which made me get close to laughing out loud at it. I'm in season 3 at the moment, and it's interesting. I have got to say...David Tennant makes a fantastic doctor. He seems to carry the show very effectively (I'll be interested to see how Matt Smith is). Not looking forward to season 4 that much, because I think the companion is the woman who was in the last christmas special I watched...the character of which had grated on my nerves for an hour (plenty of time to hope she'd not be in it again). Anyway, hardly a spectacular show, but strangely captivating, it at times, a tad ridiculous.
June 10, 201313 yr Spartacus, Game of Thrones, Falling Skies just to name a few. Oh yea, The Big Bang Theory
June 11, 201313 yr Suits, Game of thrones, Dexter also a fan of supernatural, not for everyone but if you keep following it's actually quite interesting, also quite light hearted and pretty damn funny as well
June 12, 201313 yr Minder has just started on a new TV channel down here, as has The Sweeny. Enjoying both thus far. The channel also screens Dad's Army which, needless to say, is a comedic behemoth.
June 14, 201313 yr The Sweeny - I was a lad of 9 and I'd sit, very quietly, out of my Dad's line of sight, hoping he would forget that I was in the room. Dad always remembered (usually as Regan picked up an air stewardess, etc) and I'd be packed off upstairs...damn. I got the boxed set of Dad's Army last year. It's brilliant and so well acted that even though we know what will happen in each episode, it remains fresh. Is there much Uk programming on Kiwi telly?

It's brilliant and so well acted that even though we know what will happen in each episode, it remains fresh. Is there much Uk programming on Kiwi telly? Plenty, free-to-air telly has a bit, the likes of Corro (which I refuse to watch!), the occasional documentary, and contemporary comedy series such as Not Going Out and Miranda. On Sky there are two channels which solely air UK content, BBC Knowledge, which is predominantly a documentary channel (Theroux, Wonderland, Child of our time, et al) but also features Top Gear and the occasional reality series (Helicopter Heroes, etc). The other channel, UKTV, is fairly broad in scope, and features everything from Soap Operas to Dramas and Murder Mysteries. I've been an avid watcher of The Bill on UKTV for the past four or five years, it's been screening on a daily basis and I started getting hooked on the early 90's episodes featuring the likes of Burnside, Roach, 'Tosh' Lines, and Viv Martella. A year or so ago I decided to get a DVD box set of the first three series when the show was made in an hourly format, and was blown away by the quality of the writing and the depth of the storylines and characters, DI Galloway in particular. Sadly it's slowly but surely drifting away from being a Police Procedural at the moment, and entering the realms of Soap Opera far too often for my liking. The Police work is often periphery to the personal lives and affairs of the characters. Time Team is also a favourite of mine on the History channel, particularly the earlier episodes featuring Carenza Lewis.
