How Many Points Do We Need From The Last Five Games?

Featured Replies

I think United will drop 4 points by drawing twice. Therefore we could afford to drop 6 if our goal difference holds up, and still win the whole thing. So a draw at Anfield would probably not be a killer if it happens.

We need 15 points to cement the title. :D

Agreed! Even if the Mancs slip up, we shouldn't be looking at what the least amount of points will secure it - but look to the maximum each time.

I think we can afford one draw but must keep the Goal average up.

I can see UTD winning all but one and that one being a loss at City but if they do get all the points the Goal average will be Key.

I think Arsenal will drop 2 to 4 points as they are struggling with injuries and would do well to do better even with their easier looking run in.

I think City will nick fourth spot and be irrepressible in the transfer season..

Without sounding arrogant and disrespecting Stoke, Wigan and Bolton im sure we are going to win our home games - bar the Man City circus we have been solid at SB all season and i just cant see that not continuing.

Therefore the defining game for us doesn't actually involve us. That will be Man City v Man Utd. If City can stop Utd winning we may just get away with 3 wins and 2 draws as long as Utd do not rack up cricket scores in their other games.

Failing that to win or be sure of the title i think we are going to need to win one of the games at WHL or Anfield.

Me too and i think that be the start of a real new dawn for them, and possibly the Premier League.

I think we should be looking to win all of the games, seeing how we been playing the last 3 games im not the least worried about going to whl and anfield.

Title is ours to win now, and I hope and pray that we will claim it.

Can't afford to mess around now.. it's clear that we have to go out and win all our last 5 games and I for one don't give a crap how we go about it..

Nothing less than 15 points will do and if our opposition drop points along the way then so be it...

i thing Ferguson has a a bit of a blind spot that will keep him picking Scholes, Neville and Giggs. I think he has better choices, and that this will be thier downfall. Hope so, anyway.

I thought that Scholes and Neville looked their age out there today.. passes going astray and lunging in on one or two tackles where the legs couldn't take them anymore.. Giggs is a more creative player but even he played poorly today..

I would have just stuck someone on them just to keep them wound up.. neither one of them can hold their tempers when the stress is on.. luckily we remained calm throughout and the cool heads won it on the day...

5 cupfinals 15 pts needed , but wouldnt it be nice to cement the title at Anfield if a couple of results could go our way.

No, it would be nice (for a change) to 'cement' this premiership trophy at the Bridge.

I think we'll 13. Manure should beat Blackburn next weekend, and after that Rooney will be back which will give them a great lift against City.

That for me is the defining game, City are very good on their day (as we found out twice). Add to that the fact that they'll be stinging from the injury time debacle at OT earlier on and Tevez's continued attempt to prove a point to Sir Rednose, and I think it'll be a really tough game. If they drop points at City then I'd suggest a point at Anfield will be enough provided we win our other games.

Obviously for us all the matches are important, and ideally we'd like to win them all, but Spurs looks to be the defining game for me. We play after Utd play City which could be a good or a bad thing I'm not entirely sure. My take is that if we got a result there and Utd lost points to City then that would put us four points clear of Utd with three matches to play. A position from which it would take an almighty collapse to lose from.

careful....Bolton and wigan have been a pain in the arse at home recently...remember 2008? we drew both games at the end of the season and lost the title by two points...stoke are no pushovers either...basically every game is tough at this stage of the season...the only consolation is it will be the same for the others...arse may look to have easier run-in, but Blackburn and sunderland are no pushovers right now, city are in form and they've got the S***s, who are also going for fourth...utd have some hard ones too

Imagine the scenes at Old Trafford if their goal had been disallowed. It wasn't, probably for the simple reason that the ref knew he'd already screwed up by allowing our second goal.

It's becoming clear that we can actually do very well with second string players in defence, and that squad rotation has to be the way forward next season. A fit Zhirkov or Ferrera is better than a below par Ashley Cole. Whether any PL manager is going to have the courage to do that early on in the season is debatable, but the sight of Fabregas breaking a bone by simply taking a penalty shows how fragile these star players have become by April time. The way the game is played in this country is just unsustainable over a whole season.

I think we can afford 1 slip up in the next 5 to win the league. I don't think United and Arsenal win their last 5 with the problems they got. I hope the manager and players not counting the points like us in this thread, the team is in good touch, just go out their and play our style of football one game at a time, we should walk the title home. Cliche, but it's true.

Looks like it's between Spurs and Man City for fourth then. That could go to the wire, so it's nice that ManU have to play both of them.

Bolton and Stoke look safe from the drop, but Wigan on the last day could be the sting in the tail. Let's hope we're home and dry by then

if we win agains spurs

99 title is us

i thing we are strong to beat bolton stoke wigan at home

spurs and liverpool away are strong but we can do it

good news is that by the time we play the bin dippers their dream of making top4 should be gone so they wont be as motivated as they may otherwise be.

Of course they could be fighting to get a europa league spot at this rate...
