Oh dear oh dear, what is Capello thinking?

Featured Replies

You can almost hear the wingers and strikers of other countries cheering. The squeeky little c**t shouldnt be allowed anywhere near the national team, no matter how he is playing. He retired and should stay f**king retired.

If I were English, I wouldn't want that quitter anywhere near my national team. How can you be sure he doesn't run home if everything doesn't go his way in South Africa?

im irish and i support england in the world cup or the euros, more then ever now that chelsea have a few players in the team. i was in a pub when Lampard scored against france i think cant remember when but when lamps scored i let ou a roar and people where getting on to me,i jus told them to piss of how can you support someone all year and then just stop cause hes playing for england. i wont be supporting england this year because of the way they treated jt. would have loved terry to lifted the world cup as captian. as for the bindipper, dawson should be going to the world cup.

Not being English, I don't care who England pick, but would you want someone playing for your national side who wrote this in his autobiog?

'I confess: defeats wearing an England shirt never hurt me in the same way as losing with my club. I wasn't uncaring or indifferent, I simply didn't put England's fortunes at the top of my priority list. Losing felt like a disappointment rather than a calamity.'

Even if Carragher was committed to England he is nowhere near good enough for the team. Theres 5 or 6 players at least ahead of him.

I've hated Capello with a vengeance since his cowardly act of stripping JT of the captaincy, so this Carragher crap doesn't surprise me at all. Capello is a c*nt, end of.

Same!

He needs to grow a pair, but yet cause someone cheated on their wife hes dropped so what he go and do ...... Put a DRUGGY as captain.

Rio Ferdinand is the most passionless c**t i have ever seen can you really see him lifting the world cup, he wouldnt shed a tear but Lampard and Terry and even Rooney would be balling cause they love their country.

to me this smacks of desperation and/or stupidity on capello's part. carragher at his best was never good enough for the national squad, let alone the team and he knew it - this is why he withdrew his services. this season he's far from his best. even liverpool fans (the more sensible ones anyway) will admit that at times this season he's been a liability.

and now he's back in the england squad.

Didn't he leave the national team because he felt that he would be on the bench - third (if that even) behind Rio and JT?

Surely he's not any closer now? If any I would say he's further down the pecking order.

Anyway, this is just the provisional 30-man squad. I expect him to be dropped after Capello has trimmed the team a bit.

I also agree with Bluebeard. I lost alot of respect for Capello when he stripped JT of the captaincy.

And if he even think about replacing JT with Carragher I will not cheer for England this summer!

This is a complete f*cking joke. You can't pick and choose when you play for England! What sort of a message does that send out to other players? - 'don't worry about playing in the mid-season friendlies or the boring qualifiers in far flung countries, you can just tag back in for the glamour games if we manage to get that far.' Pathetic.

But isn't that what Gerrard's been doing all these years? If it's not a glamour match, he's out with an injury, but fit enough to play for Liverpool in a few days.

I don't think Gerrard or Carragher should get in the squad, especially if you're basing selection rationally on performances over the latest season. Gerrard has the talent (or at least did), but I question his integrity as a player greatly and Carragher goes without saying. Especially when we have better options on the table.

I thought we were moving away from this rubbish, its the same every tournament and we end up shooting our own campaign in the foot. The England Rugby team just got into the habit of dropping established comfortable players living on reputation but not delivering and finally picked some youngsters on merit; and they put in a spectacular final performance in the Six Nations. Capello should take a page out of the Rugby team's book if you ask me, judge players on merit - history doesn't win cups and neither does the press.

I have said it before and will keep saying it. If you turn your back on your country there should be no option to reconsider. Thye likes of Carrager, Scholes and Kris Boyd (and many others) should never pull on an nternational jersey again.

Fully agree, and carjackers was worse beause he wasnt happy not being first choice which is a f**king joke.

The latest reports seem to suggest Joey doesn't even make it into the preliminary squad of 30.

But Owen Hargreaves does?

I thought he was a bit different this Capello, as it turns out, he's becoming Sven Mark II

In fairness, after Liverpool's season, it might be the last time he gets on a plane for a while :D

Hargreaves (who in my opinion is overrated even when he's fully fit) has played just one minute of first team football since September 2008, in which time he had missed 113 matches. If he gets in the squad I will lose all faith in Capello and I didn't have hardly any to begin with.

I agree Bluenut and Waffle, if any of these rumoured selections are true, then Capello's pretty much abandoned all the principles he set out at the start of his tenure, which is not impressive.

It will hurt Joe not to be involved, but it will hurt even more if players like Carragher and Hargreaves are selected and he isn't. Just plain bizarre, and I hope the press have very much got the wrong end of the stick.

Carragher got in the squad. Wright phillips also made it.

Joe Cole made it. Heskey as well. No massive surprises really, be more interesting to see the 23 man squad

Huzzah, no Hargreaves, thank f*ck for that. Not at all happy that Carragher got in but I am glad to see that Scott Parker made it into the 30. The final 23 man squad is announced on the 1st June.
