MKBlue Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I tried to think of a few so as to ensure I picked the right one but couldn't get past the Wayne Bridge night at the library. 9 years without a win against them, League Cup excepted, coming from behind twice in the tie and best of all knowing that because of the away goals that Bridgey's goal had won it 3 minutes before the game ended. Best Chelsea night ever.
mad_mac Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Assuming you're talking about during my lifetime, I think that has to be up there too. however, I'd loved to have been at Wembley and seen Robbie D's thunderbolt in the 97 FA Cup final
bluegraham Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 fa cup in 1997 chelsea 4 the dippers 2 2 nil down 4-2 up liverpool are out of the fa cup.
BlueBeard Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 May 1971, European Cup Winners' Cup Final against Real Madrid in Athens. Unfortunately this was a year before I officially left school, and my paper round & milk round money just couldn't cover the cost. Obviously my parents would never have allowed me to travel overseas alone at 13, but I'm sure I'd have found a way if I'd had the dosh.

shedhead Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 (edited) May 1971, European Cup Winners' Cup Final against Real Madrid in Athens. Obviously my parents would never have allowed me to travel overseas alone at 13, but I'm sure I'd have found a way if I'd had the dosh. I think I will go with that. Same age. Went completely mad and ran out into the street screaming Chelsea over and over again. All of North London must have heard me. Bolton 2004/05 springs to mind of more recent games. ManU last season which I missed because they moved ko to an early. All of those mentioned above. Edited August 3, 2010 by shedhead
Bovis Messroom Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Unfortunately I was just a bit to young for the finals in the early 70's. Have though been present at all the major semi finals and finals since including every game, home and away, to the '97 win. I too missed out on CL game at the library. Couldn't get a ticket despite travelling to Zilina and Lazio earlier in the competition. But the one that still rankles is missing my train up to Bolton in '83. To this day, my mates still go on about being amongst the 5,000 blues there in the pishing rain to see Flashers goal keep us out of the old third division. And I can only smile grimly.
Barn Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 A strange one for me, Wolves in the quarter final of the FA Cup I think it was 1994. I nearly cancelled a trip to Prague for the game - it was a really exciting cup run and that was the only game I missed that year.
geezer Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Bolton away when we won the league. I'd been offered a glimmer of hope by Just of having a ticket for the game but the guy who initially said he wasn't going decided he was at the last minute so I missed out and had to watch it on the box.
Tim Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Where IS Just by the way, did I miss something? His posts were always well thought out and a good read.
magoo Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Milan away in Champions League. 1-1 "that" Dennis Wise goal. Couple of my mates went and had a great trip. Was probably between jobs and with babies/young children. So finances would have been the reason for missing it. As with most Euro games it was the trip (and tales of fun had)that I regret missing more than the game itself. Oh well.

Bobbywoodhogan Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 I missed the greatest game of all against Barcelona 4-2, My father had died not that long before and I had a hard time watchong football after he has passed on.
secbastia Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 i missed the final against boro in 97, missed only three games home and away but not being a member or season ticket holder no chance, and i was not going to pay 200 quid for a ticket like three years earlier Big mistake !!!
Chelseaboy Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 There are several now, but 2 stand out. First Austria vienna away, all booked up ,ready to go for my first chelsea euro , 3 day trip. Mates came over the evening before and left a note on the door saying they were down the pub. Unfortunatly for me a burgler read the note before me. And not only had a good rummage through me valuables, decided to nick my passport! Gutted was not the word. Cup final 97. Missed out on a ticket, still decided to go to the Globe for a bit of atmosphere. There saw an old chelsea travelling companion (were talking old division 2 early 80s, all the sh*t grounds here) He was going and had brought some scouse bird along who also had a ticket. She had never been to chelsea and supported Liverpool! I thought the deal would be done. Offered her £300 to go shopping while i went to the game, but she wouldnt have it! TBH i was expecting him to tell her to give it to me ,but he must have been on a promise. Still find it hard to believe that i missed our first FA cup win for 27 years, but with hindsight im glad i kept the dosh in my pocket and anyhow i had a great time watching it down The Gunter Arms anyway.
