Hello ! I have question for you.

Don't you think, that it's time to search a substitute of Lamps.Yes, it's unpleasantly, but hе is 32 years old and play 40-45 games per season. He is the only player in the team without substitute. :)

Ramires is set to come in, nearly 10 years younger. Although he isn't going to be pissing on Lampard's boots, he plays centrally too.

Lampard is never going to like being substituted . He is one player who would want to play the entire time in every match of the season . Unless injured , there is very less chance for lamps to be substituted .

I think it's fair to say, most players would like to play every minute of every match - Lamps is not alone there.

Over the seasons, he does seem to have reached the position of being almost "unsubstitutionable" (such a word? - there is now!!). Obviously his fitness and goal scoring record from midfield have the large bearing on that. I guess if you have a player who has that knack of finding the back of the net, you tend to keep him on the pitch for the duration, but there have been times where he has been lucky not to be subbed in the past.

I just hope we haven't come to rely on Lamps too heavily as who knows how long he has left to perform at the very top? He isn't the sort of player you can replace. Whoever eventually fills that No 8 shirt will never be able to score the amount of goals Frank has, but they will probably have other strengths - whether it's a Kakuta, McEachran, Ramires or whoever......

20 goal midfielders don't grow on trees and Frank is truly fit for his age, (lucky he met Franco when he did).

I think we're looking to either Kakuta or McEachran as a long-term replacement by that's a couple of year off.

Scouser on a wind-up :scouser:

Don't think he's a native scouser. I think he's a foreigner.

I don't think he is a wind up at all. He joined in March so Joe would have been a Chelsea player then. I also don't think he is having a pop at Lamps 'getting on', just that nobody at the moment can compare if Frank isn't playing.

Aye, agree on both points (McEachran, not Kakuta). The next player who gets that number 8 shirt is gonna have some super blue boots to fill.

I am willing to wager a substantial part of my pocket money that he is not a native English speaker.

No, we don't need a replacement for Lampard. He's still a very important player.

Well if he was scouse then he wouldn't be a native English speaker would he?

As for Lamps replacement? We may already have him and with Ramires joining it just may free him up to start getting more goals (providing his knees stay healthy). Who? Michael Essien that's who

It's certainly something that we have to start asking sooner rather than later. I think we have a crop of very talented cetral midfielders, and an amazing amount of young potential suitors coming through. However, none of them do what Lampard does; nor do I believe they ever will be able to. As someone else just stated, 20 plus goal scoring midfielders don't grow on trees, and it's not as if he's only been doing this for one or two seasons. Lampard has been a 20+ goal scorer per season since he joined us (other than his first season, I think, where he scored 19)!

It's the same with Terry, how long do we continue to play them, hold them in the stratosphere of "unsubstitutional" and let them play week in week out even if they would be sustituted if they were any other player performing sub-par. Lampard, last season, went missing for a large number of games. Thankfully they seemed to be when he was played out of position at the tip of the diamond.

I don't think we'll ever have a true replacement for Lampard, but I'd certainly like to see him be subbed if he's not performing (not that this is a common issue), and have one eye on who will ultimately replace him.

Lampard is certainly not without his flaws but he is a great player and I don't think making him a substitute would prove a benefit really. I'm not sure his weakness are related to fatigue. Terry is much closer to becoming a sub then Frank is.

Only a couple of players in the World that you could even put in the same sentence as Lamps would be Sneider or Schweinsteiger- and they're not going anywhere...

I hear what all are saying- think about a player in the World who has played more minutes than Frank (CL,PL,FA,WCup,Qualify,EURO)...not many-

But can the young bucks coming up fill his boots....? Only time will tell

Tough problem to solve- although don't mind having Ess back to help in the middle

Lamps is irreplaceable. The man hardly ever gets injured and scores and creates goals at every level.

Wesley Schneider is the only one who could even slot into his postion and perform a similar role; he still wouldn't do as well for us. He'd also probably cost us about a billion pounds.
