lauren Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 and on to the next game, at home and at 3pm Saturday (10am for me).
HazardsLeftPeg Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Thought we'd finally have a full strength line up for this one. But looks like Lamps is still out? :(

Cam Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 The shame for Lampard is that this injury is likely to mean the end of his 20+ goal season streak
Scooby Blue Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 It'll be interesting to see how McCarthy approaches this. In the past he's as good as admitted defeat before away games against the top sides by resting his better players for the relegation battle ahead. However after the slap on the wrists he got from the FA last year following Wolves trip to Old Trafford, I suspect he might just play the strongest line up possible and attempt to 'park the bus'. One change he will obviously have to make is to replace Mancienne. As far as our line up is concerned, it will depend on whether Carlo wants to rest anyone. Also who's going to be back from injury?
yorkleyblue Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 The shame for Lampard is that this injury is likely to mean the end of his 20+ goal season streak Weren't people saying much the same this time last year when he was having a bit of a slump in form, too?
Cam Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Weren't people saying much the same this time last year when he was having a bit of a slump in form, too? I hope you're right.
PloKoon13 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 The shame for Lampard is that this injury is likely to mean the end of his 20+ goal season streak As long as he's not injured for the spring, I'm not overly worried. The spring is usually when he gets a bit mental.
The Moos Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 It's a bit strange to see Lampard out this long. He's usually the guy who is never injured or sick. And it feels odd that he had the same surgery as Drogba when the latter was back within days and Lampard's not been out for over a month I think. Must have been complications, but it's strange that we haven't heard anything about it. Oh well, I hope to see him back soon, even if we are doing well without him. McEachran will have to enjoy his time now, because he won't get as much time when Frankie returns.
Bobbywoodhogan Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Frank's still out? Jesus christ At least Drogba's back
andy Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 3.00 Saturday kick off ................. waaaahooooo ! at last .... lager,lager,lager
54veteran Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 McEachran will have to enjoy his time now, because he won't get as much time when Frankie returns. I'd rather see Josh in the side than a half fit Lampard. Last night proved we're ready to start practicing some real squad rotation.
Spiller86 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Was reading earlier that Steven C*nt will be making an appearance for Wolves, his first apparently. Let's hope he has far less impact than during his first game for Hull. http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2010/10/20/stephen-hunt-in-line-for-wolves-debut/
Kalou Time Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 My team would be ===========Cech============ Bossman ------Bruma------Terry----------Zhirkov ==========Mikel============= -----------Essien-----------McEachran------------ =Kalou================Malouda= --------------------Drogba--------------------------- I feel we need to start giving Bruma more playing time, easier home times are the best chance now. McEachran has earned a chance to start by now. We should beat wolves with that line up comfortably. Anelka needs a rest i feel, hes played pretty much every game in the last month or so. Plus we will have a solid bench to call upon if needed
ozboy Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Carlo nearly always starts the strongest team he has with players coming back from injury and young players getting limited time. That likely means Paulo, Ivan, Terry Ashley Mikel Essien Malouda Kalou Drogba Anelka ------------ Bench of: Bossy, Kakuta, Bruma Would like to see Ramires back on bench if available.
HazardsLeftPeg Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Carlo on Bosingwa last week: "He will be out for the Champions League game because it is not good for him to play on the artificial pitch, but he will be involved from the beginning, I think, against Wolves."
mad_mac Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 3.00 Saturday kick off ................. waaaahooooo ! at last .... lager,lager,lager 7am for me...... lager, lager, beer, whatever
sizzler85 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I think this is a game where we can afford to play with a right mix of youth and experience . Wolves play it hard but we can always try to beat them with skill . My team for the match against Wolves ---------------- Cech ------------------- Bossy ------ Bruma ---- Ivan ------ Van Aaholt ------------------ Mikel ------------------------- ------Essien ---------------------- McEachran------------- Kakuta ---------- Drogba ------------ Zhirkov This team looks good to me .. we need to rest the likes of Terry , Anelka , Malouda , Acole . They have been playing regularly and if Ramires is not fit , lets start with Mceachran ... Its high time Bruma got a start . He must be given a chance to prove himself .. More trust on kakuta , plz .
bennyboy1976 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I think the way that Carlo has be using the youngsters has been superb this year and he should continue with the same mentality. Get the game won first with the strongest team, then blood the youngsters in when the game is safe.

Get the game won first with the strongest team, then blood the youngsters in when the game is safe. But do they gain much from playing 10-15 minutes as a sub when we're already 3 or 4 up? Most instances like that we just kill the last few minutes passing the ball around defense/midfield taking it easy and they dont get the chance to contribute much. We have already played west brom and blackpool at the bridge, so were running out of the 'easier' home ties. I dont see any harm in starting 1 or 2 of the kids in an otherwise full strength line up. Id rather we play them at home then away to Villa like was the case with Kakuta, i think they'll be more at ease with the stamford bridge crowd cheering them on all the way and in a game we control. Mikel was thrown in the first team mix very young and while he made a few mistakes he has developed into a quality player. Every player makes mistakes, we cant let that fear hinder their development
rahul Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 (edited) If we win this, it'll be a huge bonus as 2nd and 3rd are also playing in the same weekend and any result in that game would be good for us. Edited October 21, 2010 by rahul

Every player makes mistakes, we cant let that fear hinder their development No one cares about them making mistakes at this stage of their careers ( Josh at Villa) and they will definately not be coated off for it by me. I do care that there is still 3 huge points to be won and you can not the way the EPL is at the moment say that any team is EASY. Blackpool have already beaten Liverpool away and gave Man city a mighty scare at the weekend, West brom beat Arsenal away and drew at Old Trafford which should illustrate my point. We are Chelsea not Man U and we are not as arrogant like they are when calling teams EASY as it kind of belittles our achievements thus far this year. Arsenal play their kids alot but there is a reason for this (i don't give a f*** what Wenger says) they have to because they have no squad depth, we don't have to and we can choose when the time is right to play ours as, Carlo is proving.
sizzler85 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Right point about giving the young players the last 10-15 mins of playing time in home matches when we are already 3 or 4 up . All we do is end up passing between the midfield and defence and most times we are ready to soak up the pressure . This leaves the young players very little time to show their quality . I believe the last 10 mins for a young player is not going to help him much if we are not ready to pass the ball forward enabling the young player to show his potential . No one wants to be arrogant in judging the quality of the opposition but we can always think about starting with the young players when the whole world knows or atleast have already seen / heard of the player's potential . Kakuta has been a star in the U-19 Euro , Josh in the U-17 euro , Bruma has debuted in the Dutch first team etc
Mikstaw Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I'd like to see Kakuta playing in the last 10-15 minutes. Any news about Kalou? Will he play??
Bobbywoodhogan Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 As far as I'm aware Kalou is fit, he played on Tues afterall
