Went for Bos. To be honest i didnt count the first half because no one turned up. Thought when Bos came on we looked a lot better, although obviously this wasnt all down to him.

Cech did quite well as well. Couldnt blame him for the goals particularly the second.

I probably hate losing to that lot more than any other side so with that, I can't give a MOTM to any of our players.

Disappointed with the starting line up and I also think Carlo got it wrong by bringing on Bosingwa - waste of a sub IMO. Bad day at the ofiice for all concerned and a good weekend for Manchester.

At least we're still looking down on them.

Voted for Cech for that worldy save...

Mikel for a mention, how he managed to carry Ramires & Zurkov for 46 minutes shows how far he's come.

Alan

Hopefully that's the arrogant 'we can stroll about in our own half for the first twenty minutes' attitude has been well and truly kicked into touch

I honestly can't pick a MOM from that as first half was so bad that the second half performance looked quite impressive in comparison, it obviously wasn't as we had no real cutting edge but the cross from Drogba to Maluda that should have been a goal bar Reinas chest was superb.

on another day that could have gone in as could Anelkas shot that hit the bar, we certainly had them under the cosh second half and I think it was more our change of attitude than what the commentators would have us believe (Liverpool shutting up shop and letting us try to score).

I can't make up my mind if Drogba being there raised the team or Carlos half time talk but giving it 50-50 I'd give my vote to Drogs just for his cross and his presence on the pitch, he was obviously suffering after his Virus..he looked the coldest on the bench and if he had have been fit surely he would have started so thats how I mitigate my decision.

Now this is a ongoing bug bear of mine, if Drogba was fit enough for the bench then in my mind he's fit enough to start. Imagine if Anelka had got injured in the first 10 minutes or so (barring his late shot he played like it today), would Carlo have not put Drogba on then? I'm inclined to think he would. So Drogba starting on the bench hamstrung us from the start today and I'm sure it would have given Liverpool a massive lift when they saw that was the case.

Totally agree with that, I said those exact words at half time, but...if he wasn't feeling right as he likely wasn't then Carlo had the decision to make if to have him on the bench in case he was needed badly and the other strikers who had managed without him before were not doing it this time, to start him and hope he got us in front then rest him if he tired or second half if we were in front or to leave him out altogether?

I thought about it and had to honestly say in my mind he made the right decision, I think had he have played from the off we would have won it but the questions remain, would he have lasted/ would he have had the same attitude as the others started with or was it being 2-0 down and coming on with a chance to save the day after hearing Carlos half time talk that got him like the rest a bit more up for it second half?

I don't know but lets hope somethings been learned by all.

Mikel. Amazing display from him.

what a ludicrous statement. Though I couldve predicted that statement from you whatever his performance and whatever the score.

Mom is a very tough call. Might just give it to Cech for that save keeping the store from being horrific.

its intersting that on another chelsea website it was pointed out that out of 60 passes from mikel 7 were misplaced, and although thats not a huge percentage of missed passes, its not good enough to give him motm imo,a needless yellow card, and some lucky situations where going back to sticking his arse out to put his opposing player off, probably has something to do with it also.second half jt was on a mission(maybe trying to make up for his howler that let in torres),so by default i guess my motm goes to him.

MOTM between Cech, Terry and Mikel. Gave it to Mikel as he had to carry the useless pair of Zhirkov and Ramires(talking about this game) against a strong Liverpool-midfield. His passing is excellent and 60-7 is not a bad statistic consindering that he actually had the be the one with the breakthrough passes, aswell as everything else in the midfield. Cech with an amazing save on that Kuyt shot, and Terry was good aswell although he did loose Torres on the first goal.

Looks like I'm out of step here, but I thought Malouda was our most dangerous player.

Our midfield was disappointing and Anelka is not the sort of player who can have a big impact against teams sitting deep. We lacked support going forward from our midfield and even when we got some good crosses in we didn't have the numbers in the box.

We sorely missed Frank and Essien to give us more bite and drive.

Having said that, I prefer to regard it as one of those days. Opposition played well above themselves, some important players missing, not much luck and the second goal which was just a bit of genius from Torres.

A win on wednesday and a draw for City and Utd and we can consign this game to the history bin.
