Posted January 6, 201114 yr P45: Kalou Ferriera Bosingwa Anelka Contract: Luiz Schweinsteiger Aguero Suárez Ivan for right back.
January 6, 201114 yr Hasn't Ivan (or his agent) said that he doesn't want to play right back, and he thinks his best position is in the centre? And has he signed a new contract yet, anyway?
January 6, 201114 yr P45: Kalou Ferriera Bosingwa Anelka Contract: Luiz Schweinsteiger Aguero Suárez Ivan for right back. Can i have what you're smoking?
January 6, 201114 yr P45 Ferreira Kalou (Though he won't leave) Anelka Contract Aguero Any half decent defender under the age of 27
January 6, 201114 yr P45 Ferreira Kalou (Though he won't leave) Anelka Contract Aguero Any half decent defender under the age of 27 this, can sell Zhirkov too
January 6, 201114 yr P45: Kalou Ferriera Bosingwa Anelka Contract: Luiz Schweinsteiger Aguero Suárez Ivan for right back. Easier said than done! Possible in football manager maybe, but we can't just cherry pick the world's best players anymore. Carlo is going to have to be clever with his signings - provided he stays in his job.
January 6, 201114 yr If we're talking about in the summer as opposed to Jan: OUT Hilario Ferreira Benayoun Kalou Anelka Drogba SQUAD FOR 11/12 Cech Turnbull Walker Cole Van Aarnholt Terry Alex Bruma Luiz (£30m?) Bosingwa Ivanovic Mikel McEachran Essien Lampard Ramires Malouda Kakuta Sneijder OR Aquilani (£20m?) Zhirkov Adam Johnson (£18m?) Augero (£40m?) Sturridge Borini That gives us a squad of 24 players. With a cost of about £100m on new players. Edited January 6, 201114 yr by BlueSkies
January 6, 201114 yr Will we have £100million to spend though? Cos the way Roman has been in recent months suggest he isn't going to be digging deep into his pockets anytime soon - very worrying!!
January 6, 201114 yr Will we have £100million to spend though? Cos the way Roman has been in recent months suggest he isn't going to be digging deep into his pockets anytime soon - very worrying!! Course not, but no-one said anything about being realistic... If you want realism, maybe we'll get rid of Ferreria and bring in someone like Cahill. Apart from that we'll be the same as this season.
January 6, 201114 yr Im at the point now where i honestly dont know or not if people are taking the piss with these threads or not
January 6, 201114 yr Im at the point now where i honestly dont know or not if people are taking the piss with these threads or not I know what you mean, bjd. My heart nearly stopped when I saw BlueSkies' post and I thought he'd suggested that we sign Andy Johnson. Clearly I don't know him from Adam...
January 6, 201114 yr If we don't end up in the Champions League, Gourlay, Buck and co. Should walk the plank. Self sufficiency will then be an impossible dream and Roman will have to put up or sell up to get us back where the money is! P45 Gourlay Buck Ferreira Kalou Anelka Hillario Turnbull Depends what money is available ...and who is spending it But we need a keeper, centre back, right winger, goalscoring midfielder and a striker ! No different from the summer IMO but we need a Centre Back

No different from the summer IMO but we need a Centre Back Do we though Star ? Bruma looked ok to me on Sunday, a few more games and a bit more experience gained and looks like there could be a good player in there. Isnt it worthing giving him a few more games before spending 15 million on someone else ? Agree with everything else. Top priority has to be a right sided midfielder/attacker and a striker. Ideally a proper right back too.
January 6, 201114 yr Im at the point now where i honestly dont know or not if people are taking the piss with these threads or not I had the same reaction when I saw some of the names mentioned, but frankly Zola is right. If this gets our minds off the vultures currently swirling I am all for it. Frankly, id rather be reading through these threads than hearing people say "I told you Carlo was no good" over and over. Caveat: I would only sell in the summer. Only. To do so now would be just insane. Thank and sell -Kalou, think we could get about 5-7 million for him -Ferreira, think he would go back to portugal, or maybe to a smaller Spanish club, for about 3 million and if we find out more about Gourlay and Ray Wilkins, then sack his ass too Buy (with a self imposed budget of 35m. I know that is double what we have spent in most summers, but I think at this point alarm bells must be rining with management. If we raise money from sales, that can go back into it. Hopefully they decide to spend even more.) -a defender in the summer -a winger now -a no. 10/AM now -a cheapo utility attacker in the summer We dont need to get world beaters. Just guys who can chip in with 20-30 quality minutes as subs, and and maybe they are young and have the potential to grow into first team places. In the immediate, they can give guys in the starting 11 a break, and keep the whole team fresher. And maybe, if we have some decent options to bring on in close games, we can save brining on youngsters for games in which we are comfortable (if those games ever come again)
January 6, 201114 yr Do we though Star ? Bruma looked ok to me on Sunday, a few more games and a bit more experience gained and looks like there could be a good player in there. Isnt it worthing giving him a few more games before spending 15 million on someone else ? Agree with everything else. Top priority has to be a right sided midfielder/attacker and a striker. Ideally a proper right back too. You are right. That injury crisis is over, and we seem to be a bit more solidified at the back. But if Ivan's future is at RB, and we know JT and Alex are gonna face more injuries in coming years, it may be something to keep an eye on, even with Bruma's development. I dont think its something we need to spend money in that position immediately, but once we have a clearer idea about what will happen at RB it should clear up alot of things about the CB rotation.
January 6, 201114 yr At this point I actually wouldn't mind getting someone like N'Zogbia for 7-8m, if the rumors of his availability and relatively low fee are true. He's a bit inconsistent but is still young and has played in the league long enough to dismiss any fears over his adaptability. Considering the age and a fee, he'd be a low risk. Perhaps it's high time for that marquee player that Bruce Buck has been spoon feeding us for years, to arrive? The question is who that is and will he make that much of a difference in a squad that has plenty of holes to fill. Another Frenchman, Sessegnon, who we've been linked with in the past wants out of PSG and is comfortable as a right sided attacker. Will probably cost a few million more than N'Zogbia. Mata would have been a very exciting potential acquisition but after losing Villa and Silva I don't see Valencia selling him any time soon, and he'll probably cost a pretty penny. Darijo Srna is few months away from ending his contract with Shakhtar, at the current moment he'd be a fine upgrade over both Ferreira and Bosingwa, and can even be used in the advanced attacking position on the right. Given the contract situation, he can probably be had for a small fee if we offer him decent wages and a chance to start. There are obviously other, better players out there, but they'll cost significantly more, especially now, in the middle of the season when the clubs aren't in a mood to sell. January 6, 201114 yr All good names, abra, and youve hit it on the head there. Wigan are embroiled in a relegation dogfight, PSG pushing for the title, Valencia pushing for top four. We would have to overpay to get these guys away from them. But at this point it has to be clear even to the board and front office. Something has to change, now, or we are screwed. Forget the Marquee player, and take some of that money to improve us in a few areas. I would settle for alot less right now, just show some sign of intent.
January 6, 201114 yr Out Ramires - no strength in midfield - Brazillian Z list Kalou - The Chelsea Pavlyuchenko Mikel - Doesnt mind miss placing a pass and picking up a yellow Ferreira - Looks suspect to the more agile opponents In Van der Vaart - great playmaker and goal scorer full of endeavour Hernandez - always a danger when he is on, able to loose his marker often Vidic - solid at the back and a couple of goals in him on set pieces Hart - Englands number one without any doubt, superb positional play between the sticks
January 6, 201114 yr We cannot afford to wait till summer. Finish outside the top 4 and we'll be looking at players of the calibre of Poulsen and Konchesky. Couple of signings are needed in January to secure top 4: Charles N'zogbia-£ 8-10 million Steven Ireland/ Charlie Adam-£ 6-8 million
January 6, 201114 yr Sooper blue must have done well to write that with fergersons cock in his mouth! Out kalou anelka ferreira hilario turnbull zhirkov 30m? In lukaku hazard aguero hamsik David luiz begovic 100+m to dream the impossible dream!
January 6, 201114 yr Summer: Sell Paulo to free up a foreign spot and bring back Mancienne On a realistic budget of £20 million In: Pirlo and Elmander on Bosmans Eden Hazard- £20 million.
January 6, 201114 yr Holy sh*t, I didn't realise Pirlo's contract was up at the end of the season. It might be worth it just to see him in a Chelsea shirt.
January 6, 201114 yr Another 30+ player though... Although I suppose if he's on a free and we don't pay ridiculous wages, we could sign worse.
