You've done yourself proud with all those pictures DD, well done mate. 12 hours ago, Boyne said: Thanks for the information. I'll look out for DJ's book. Another to add to the list of books to read. On youtube the other day I found the goal he scored against Wales in 1978. A cracking header. I'd forgotten how good a goal it was. 13 hours ago, erskblue said: I think he worked hard at training under Wallace. Very few players didn't! However,by his own admission (in his autobiography) he was gutted when Wallace left in summer 1978. In his book,Johnstone states that he really enjoyed his time with us. By all accounts he was a bit like Shearer- strong, quick, clean feet, good in the air. I know he signed in 84 and didn't make an appearance- did he hang around all year in the Ressies or did he bugger off? 2 hours ago, Carshalton Blue said: Chelsea at Wembley v Luton 94, notice the dj Trevor Nelson on the right. August 2, 20178 yr Ewell: Regarding Derek Johnstone. Think he made 2 appearance for us in his two years ay The Bridge. He moved back up to Rangers in February 1985. I'm sure he has stated that he really enjoyed his time at Chelsea. He was at his peak a brilliant header of a ball. Good with both feet on the deck. Not that quick by his own admission. He played centre half for Rangers for a fair part of his career. He actually played for Scotland at centre half v England at Wembley in 1973. Then 3 years later came on as a sub at Hampden v England and played as a striker alongside Joe Jordan and Kenny Dalglish. He never took a single penalty in all of his senior career. 1970-1987.
August 2, 20178 yr Derek Johnstone brief career with us. 4 matches. He only started 1. 1. Carlisle Utd on 25 Feb 1984 0-0 draw at The Bridge. Div 2 match. Sub. 2. Blackburn Rovers on 16 Mar 1984 2-1 win us at The Bridge. Div 2 match. Sub. 3. Sheff Wed on 8 Dec 1984. 1-1 draw away. Div 1 match. Started. 4. Stoke City on 15 Dec 1984. 1-1 draw at The Bridge. Div 1 match. Sub.

I was at Carlisle and Blackburn games don't remember him coming on, but hey it was over 34 years ago, remember the Blackburn game being on a Friday night and there was a live game on TV saints v Liverpool at same time, danny Wallace scored an overhead kick for saints, we got a crowd of 19k which in those days on a Friday night and with live football which was unusual was terrific, traffic horrendous round bridge, remember old man parking near Wandsworth bridge and running to ground to make ko, I was dressed in my finest pink Lyle and Scott jumper and electric blue Lois cords, I would dig em out for Burnley next week but the size maybe an issue now!!
